Everyone complains about Vaan being the main man, so who would you have preferred.

I'd say Ashe fits best

Not sure why you put in "someone else" when adding one more option would have been enough for all 6 party members :p

but ashe is the only sensible choice anyway

Voting for Ashe. She's who I controlled outside of towns.

There's a reason why Vaan was chosen as the 1a protagonist in this game. He's supposed to represent the n00bz "wide eyed view" of the world outside of his little one.

I always considered Ashe the main character, really.

Same here, and it doesn't disrupt the flow of the plot at all by that point, which is why I voted for her here.

Balthier would be a close second because he's cool.

I always thought it should be Basch. But looking at the voting, apparently not. I don't know why, but I guess it was just his story that held the most depth. My second choice would be Ashe.

Vaan would have been a fine protagonist if they had remembered he was still there after the first portion of the game.

Other than that - Basch or Ashe are the obvious choices.

Definitely Ashe. Though really, if you had just Ashe, Basch and Balthier you could probably make the game with just those three characters. As much as I love FFXII, they didn't really think things through with Vaan, Penelo or Fran.

I liked Basch the best of the characters, but I always imagined Ashe would be more fitting.

I consider Ashe to be the main character. It is her story after all. Her choices, her home, her people.

Vaan and Penelo are just along for the ride.

You could really boil it down to just Ashe and Basch.

Agreed with this. I thought Vaan was fine until he became obsolete in the second half.

I always felt that Ashe was the protagonist and she was always the one I used (along with Balthier and Basch).

You know what, why not? FF needs more playable moogles.

The poll think it's Stone Cold.

The poll think it's Stone Cold.

Are you saying Stone Cold should've been FFXII's protagonist?

HELL YEAH! It would have been the best game in the series. Stone Cold would have walked right up to the Emperor, give him the middle finger, Stone Cold Stunner! Empire defeated.

Vaan as main character is like Watson telling Holmes's story. I always believe that Basch and Noah are the strongest character (I mean strong in conceptual) and I guess that's why the logo is Gabbranth with blood stained on his left. in the end, Basch is Noah, and Noah is Basch, both become an individual named Gabbranth. it's Basch and Noah's story.

But ...

Ashe is the central of all characters around. Vaan and Penelo are her people, Balthier and Fran are from opposing country who knows much about nethicite (something she after), and Basch is her bodyguard.

But, I personally prefers Balthier. as Vaan, he's the Watson in Holmes's story with more character depth.
