Ralph Baer, the inventor of the home video game console, has passed away at age 92. (http://kotaku.com/the-father-of-video-games-ralph-baer-has-passed-away-1667980395)

Off he goes, to the great bonus round in the sky...

Thoughts?

Truly sad. But 92 is a long life & what he gave us was a great gift.

Hey, buddy, know where I can score some of those pills Pac-Man eats?

This might be pathetic, but this has got me truly sad. For those who aren't in the know, aside from being the inventor of the first game console, you can easily argue that he is the Father of Video Games, period. He was putting games on TV screens in the 60s. Pong and Nolan Bushnell didn't show up for another decade.

A true legend.

Rest in RIP my friend.

Not pathetic at all. I'm sure he'd be flattered to have such appreciation

Rest in peace old bean. Your contributions will be eternally admired

It's also my understanding most of the pioneers of video gaming had episodes of being accused of being douchey. I don't recall anyone saying an aside that this gentleman was actually a prick behind closed doors. So Yay for also being decent while giving us nerds one of our favorite pastimes

Without this guy futzing around with a bunch of scraps in his garage in the mid 60's, we wouldn't have Final Fantasy. Makes you think.
