So apparently, the leaked emails that were hacked from Sony also revealed that they have gained the rights from Nintendo to make an animated Mario movie. What are your thoughts about this revelation, and how excited would be knowing about this?

Let's just hope this turns out better than the last movie Mario was in. :D

Only one thing would save such a project, and that's Shigeru Miyamoto writing the story.

It wouldn't hurt to have Charles Martinet on board. But...what's Sony's animated feature history like?

Looked at this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Pictures_Animation#Filmography). Outlook not so good.

That's a weird choice. And a weird wording. But I think Dreamworks or Pixar would have been better. And I'm sure either would have been happy to oblige as well. It's easy money, and 90% of the story can write itself. Then they just fill in for actual real characters and a couple of things for adults to enjoy and you have yourself a movie

Nintendo probably just wanted to keep it in Japan, rather than ensure it's good >.>

That's hard for me to believe that Nintendo would do business with Sony.

It would take zero effort to do better than the original Super Mario Brothers movie. Let's see if Sony rises to the occasion, or falls in this case.

Strange to see Nintendo and Sony mentioned in the same breath again.

That is true, but as Spooniest pointed out, Sony doesn't have a great reputation with their animation department. I guess we'll see when this comes out.
