Using the first time you started gaming as a starting point, what's the longest period of time you've gone without playing a video game?

I went about a year once when I was working/travelling, a couple of years back. I remember the first time I played a game when I came home, I busted out a 12 hour session on Command and Conquer: Red Alert on the PS1 with a friend using a LINK cable. It was awesome.

Maybe a week...? When going hardcore on a writing project or something.

That's pretty rare though.

Uh like... a week or so, when I get my cluster headaches and I can't concentrate or think?

Are we not counting like mobile apps? Maybe 2-3 weeks if not? But if so, Terra Battle (http://www.terra-battle.com/en/) is my current addiction. Dat Sakaguchi.

According to my parents, when I was only 2 years old, they found that I had managed to sneak out of my room, get out the NES, and hook it up to the tv. At that age, I'd play games as often as they let me, and that's never really changed. I'd say the longest I've gone without gaming would be a week, and that was because of going to church camps in high school.

Probably a few months.

Aside from age 0-6, probably just a few months. In recent times, it's not been uncommon for me to only play maybe a 2-4 hour session about once a month or so, depending on what my life obligations are like at the time.

Several months, though I don't remember an exact time. I just know for a while I spent more time role-playing on forums than playing games.

About a year after Michael was born

No wait, who am I kidding

About 10 months after Michael stopped sleeping all day

Probably a month. I'm not exactly sure, I usually game a little bit daily here and there.

Studying for the bar exam, so about a month or two. It's in July, so I remember bitterly clicking away during the Steam sale like, "I am going to play the trout out of all these games when this is over..."

post-7, I doubt I've ever gone more than two weeks without some sort of game.

About 3 or 4 years? I don't think I played a game from about 2006 to 2009?

Broke my right arm and was in a cast for six months. It was torture, especially since I was going through the hugest Street Fighter phase during that time frame. The worst part was going to a laundromat where they had an SFII machine, and having to watch other dudes do touch of death combos on each other, instead of playing against them myself due to my arm still being broken. :(

Four months during my senior year of uni. I was interning, going to classes, working and doing a thesis. There was no time for games or sleep.

Not long. I'm always dabbling in something so make a week at most like if I'm on Holiday.

Within the past decade or so I suspect my time without playing games has never been longer than a weekend -- if there are no video games to be found, I'll very often come up with some form of paper based game to play.

Probably a few months to a year or so. I don't know.

There was a time period of about a year or two where I lost interest in games. I was unable to find that "it" game to recapture my attention. It wasn't fun. I felt pretty empty. But the games just weren't there for me. And I imagine it wasn't abnormal for me to go a month or more without touching a game during that period. Fortunately I have a lot more access to computer and web games and such, and almost all the newer consoles available (I had mistakenly locked myself into the 360 at the time when surely Naughty Dog games and the like would have suited me far better than Halo and Gear of War)

Boy am I glad that time in my life is over. I'm still really picky and its still hard to find a good game. But there's always something. The holiday rush these past few weeks have been killing me. Long hours at work, and feeling to exhausted at home to get too into a game. Fortunately I have a few short days coming up and a weekend off. SLEEPING AND PERSONA 4 *glee*
