i think the best question here is "why is that car"

dang italians with their weird designs

Why?

To meet the needs of people in post WWII Europe, of course. :jess:

Cheap.

Simple to manufacture.

Simple and cheap to keep running. (At the time)

Plus all the performance you could ever need.

This model has:

14hp

78 mpg

0-60 mph in.....probably never. Maybe on a steep hill.

0-53 mph eventually. I'd personally not drive it over 35-40.

Seats two. Supposedly. More like one and 3/4 people.

I hope that isn't one of the ones you have to test drive overnight because it's hideous and nowhere is worth going that much

That is the best thing ever.

I'm not planning on taking this thing on an extended drive. It's 98% of the way to being a concours level show car.

This is just a piece of automotive history that the person wants in fully functioning condition.

The glorified lawn mower is running again. Still have to track down a possible dark current.

If anyone's interested I can do a walk around video of the little beast once it's cruising around again.

I want one. Can I strap a car seat to the roof?

I imagine the owner of that thing is a tall, middle aged British gentleman in a tweed suit. He has a degree from Cambridge in Economics & fought in the Falkland Islands while serving in Her Majesty's Royal Navy.

Well, you see, that's not so easy. The whole front of the car is also the door to the car. So in the case of a front end impact, to keep the occupants from being trapped in the car and burning to death, you're supposed to release the vinyl roof hatch.

Since the roof is just some vinyl and brackets, I don't think the baby would really like it. Maybe try strapping it to the back.

How much is that thing worth?

It's hard to know for certain, with the used market. Plus I'm not an expert on this particular car.

From what I know I'd say it should bring 40k to 50k.

That thing is amazing, please mail it to me.

I can't imagine shipping would be much.

That thing is so small a 30 cal would probably tip it on it's side :p
I'm eagerly anticipating a video.

Okay, I'm currently trying to track down a specific (yet minor) part. The car is 99% there, and in very nice condition.

Here's rough video of us looking at it and driving it around. It really did need to be cranked and driven a bit simply because sitting isn't good for cars. It's probably not super entertaining, but hey. :monster:

"Terrorize the neighbors, German style" has... specific connotations.

Also, gonna need to teach your dad how to use the camera.

Specifically intentional. :p

We've thought about getting temporary signs that say "Axis Automotive" to hang on the front of the building for the days when the shop is full of nothing but German, Japanese, and Italian cars.

Yeah, dad did a pretty poor job. :jess:

Someone can open up a competing shop across from you. Allied Repair. You'll come to work one morning and your shop will be firebombed and the people at Allied will have moved a makeshift office in. Then you'll have to sign a non-compete agreement that says you'll only work on cars in self defense.
