Have you ever given your character(s) dumb names because it amuses you?

I am eight years old:

While not dumb per se, I did name Cloud Tori in my last FFVII playthrough, so when I got to the part where Aerith calls him "Miss Tori" I got a good chuckle out of it.

i nickname my guys all the time. Edward was called wimpy in FF iV. i called quina Licky in ff ix. Cait sith was called puffer ( though i just called him that because of the moogle. didnt think about it sounding like he smoked weed or anything until after he died lol )

I once named the hero in DQVIII "Titmouse" because he had a pet mouse & it had the word tit in it.

I once named Gau "Gay" just so he could say "I'm Gay, I'm your friend!".

Oh immaturity...

Fire Emblem already used that one.

Suddenly I feel compelled to play all of Fire Emblem.

I had a friend in high school who I was doing a playthrough of VII with just so we could catch all of the weird, silly things in the game. I feel like we did this a couple of times and both times we gave the characters silly names just so that it would make for amusing dialogue. I sadly cannot remember them though!

I also like giving Tidus names such as "Boy", "You", and "Him." That way people refer to him by name occasionally.

I always name Vivi after myself and my boyfriend/crush at the time Quina because they are the two best characters and also they get married

sharky wasn't as happy with being Quina

I give animal party members like Red XIII pet names. Like the last time I played VII, he was Buttons. And I named Freya, Scabber.

No, but my friend in high school sold me his copy of Secret of Mana where all the characters were named DIKHED, DIKFET, DIKNOS or something like that on one of the files. I've never erased it either. My favorite was when we played Worms and he had a team called Jesus Christ's Best Friend League and proceeded to name each Worm something like Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Mao... you get the picture. ;)

All... the... time...

It makes reading the text much more fun.

Go ahead and play FFVII and name everyone "Sephiroth."

I dare you. :colbert:

Would that constitute a lexical ambiguity or just straight insanity? xD

I rarely rename characters, though I did see a Pokemon video in which the guy playing called himself "I never". So, "I never used a Poke ball" and so on. Quite enjoyed that!

I named Shadow Ryu. That's a much better name than Shadow.

Name your Pokemon 'oh shit', let the madness ensue. (http://1.media.dorkly.cvcdn.com/29/54/c5e653ec9244638453ad24ceb56d385c-the-best-name-for-a-pokemon.jpg)

"Nobody gained a level!"
"Who gained a level!"
"Building gained a level!"

I liked to name characters twisted things.

Cloud went around as "Not Zack" for a while.

I recently played Double Dare on the NES & named my team :bou::bou::bou:hole.

"Congratulations, :bou::bou::bou:hole!"

Everyone calls Barret "Mr.T"
I called Cid "F&^% YOU" or something like that

There is a point early in disc three where Cloud Addresses Barrett and Cid by name. So I get "Mr. T. F&%^ YOU!"

The friend who introduced me to Final Fantasy IV was naming characters after all his friends and Sabin was named after me. Ever since I've always been fond of that character. I've done things of that nature before but nothing more. I don't think I could enjoy a game if I did that personally. But I am amused watching others do it

I named Aeris 'Bumface' in my more recent FFVII runs. Not that she has a face like a bum - I just don't like her much. xD I like her in Crisis Core though. Ah well.

Beyond that, no silly names. A few references here and there.

I do this sometimes, but can't think of anything too funny.

I did watch part of a Let's Play FVIII years ago where the person named Rinoa "A Whore" and Angelo "Anal".

While also being incredibly mature, it also served to rename the different limit breaks to things like "Anal Strike", "Anal Search", and "Anal Cannon".

I laughed. I laughed really hard.

That either was, or was inspired by, Spoony and his riff on FF8 in general which is like 2.5 hours of rage at the game in half hour videos. And was one of the things that originally got me into his videos in the first place :3 But someone may have been inspired to use it in a real lets play, instead of the rage review Spoony was doing

I generally give strange names to things more often than funny ones, like calling my character Bucket in Pokemon Pearl and Socks in White. I did name a Chansey 'Babyslayer' once though, and 'Doofass' has been a running name for my Bidoofs for a while.

I like to name Zelda's Toon Link incarnations "Raisin." It just seems to fit.
In Twilight Princess, I once named Epona "Dinner." That's just so I could read "Hey Link! Where's Dinner?" "Go get Dinner!" Sadly, the only time the horse's name is ever mentioned in conversation was the beginning.

I thought I was the only one who named my Bidoofs "Doofass."
