I'll be very curious to see how this shakes out. While I'm a massive FF fan, I actually prefer CT to any of the games from that era...or most other eras to be honest. It's so good!

i still stick with my oppinion of FFV. however i admit CT is a great game. i liked the music and the robot. but i never finished it sadly stuff happened before i could and my save was deleted. :(
I haven't played CT, so I honestly can't say which one is better than the other.
Smurf it, I'm still voting for FFIV.

Chrono Trigger is beautiful and superbly crafted in every way, but it's a little thin for a 90's Square. I wish the game lasted a little longer.

I had to make a decision without thinking about it, because otherwise I could sit on the fence the rest of my life. CT is genius, but FFVI is something special. One of a kind.

We have been unable to reach a consensus.

For me it is FFIV followed by Chrono Trigger, but I totally admit that my reasoning is purely emotional based. So while I personally think FFIV is better, I would also totally support one who feels CT is better than the three SNES RPGs.

Combined.
It's the greatest game of all time for a reason, people.

CT is really, really great. A truly amazing RPG. And slightly worse than FFVI.
I'm still waiting for my Super Mario RPG option on the poll.

FFV takes the cake for me.
I'm still waiting for my Super Mario RPG option on the poll.
Paper Mario wasn't on the SNES. Silly Pikebot.
You seem to be implying that I played Paper Mario.

I assumed you had good taste :doublecolbert:

I'd say Chrono Trigger takes it as it is a better rounded package than VI overall.

I forget which one I voted for, it's unfair putting a trilogy against one game because the three FFs had something different for everybody. I wouldn't be surprised if there was more or less an even split between the three of them on this forum. For me, it's rough to say whether I personally enjoyed FFV or CT more but I would definitely say that from an objective standpoint, CT is the better game.
I mentioned this when Forsaken Lover made this thread but I would personally put Dragon Quest V and Tactics Ogre at the top of the best SNES RPGs, ahead of CT and FF - by a quite a lot.

I'd say it goes FF6>CT>FF4>FF5
I never really saw what was so remarkable about Chrono Trigger. Maybe it was because I didn't play until the DS version.
While I admired how well it'd been put together as a multi-branched story, I never really identified with any of the characters and the story was fairly traditional.
FF6 on the other hand had a lot of great characters and also a much more gripping story. The whole end-of-the-world thing was done brilliantly and I loved how the pacing and structure of the game adapted to the plot (very linear and structured until the midpoint but then open and messy afterwards)

I enjoy CT a significant bit less than FF IV, V, and VI.
