I have no idea why. It just speaks to me! My husband's favorite is 9 because it's the largest digit.

21, 11 and 9. Odd numbers are so much better than evens.

I'm quite fond of the number 10. Nice and even and round and the basis for our entire number system.

Every number is special in its own way, though. I really like this story that GH Hardy tells about Ramanujan, the last great mathematical genius:

I remember once going to see him when he was ill at Putney. I had ridden in taxi cab number 1729 and remarked that the number seemed to me rather a dull one, and that I hoped it was not an unfavorable omen. "No", he replied, "it is a very interesting number; it is the smallest number expressible as the sum of two cubes in two different ways."
The two different ways are
1729 = 13 + 123 = 93 + 103.

I'm the only one who doesn't have a favorite number. To me numbers are only a way to track things.

I like money, though. So my favorite number is an absurdly high one representing dollars.

Integers? 4. I like even numbers and symmetry. 4 divides evenly, it's square root is 2 which is also a fine number, and it doesn't make my skin crawl to think about it for too long.

Despite my penchant for even numbers though I am very fond of the Fibonacci sequence and π.

Most people like the number in which they were born. For instance, if they were born December 10th, they'll like the number 10. I was born August 17th, hence my fascination with the number 17.
