I wish Materia had been better implemented, seeing as it has a lot of potential to combine character roles with open advancement. In addition, there are stretches of the game that can drag like crazy. Plus the writing and translation are kinda awful.

The lack of dual-wield. Being forced to hold weapons like Ninja Swords w/ two hands, when the characters clearly use one hand to use them. The lack of water, air & earth spells.

How Garnet is pretty much an entirely useless character. Unusable for an entire disc, and at that point you have Eiko who's better a better healer with much more useful summons anyways.

Everything about Amarant. He feels completely tacked on.

FFT: How Gained JP up became almost mandatory for most of the game, eliminating 1/4 of the character set up variables you have to play with.
