Pumpkin
01-28-2015, 06:40 PM
I can manage that

Oh yeah I just want to go through a few things first

-Firstly, I have no problem with people disagreeing with my opinions and placement. Chances are you will, I have terrible taste in games! Feel free to post why you disagree and discuss it with me all you like. But also keep in mind I'm a person with feels so please try not to call me names and such. The difference between "I didn't like that game because" and "You're an idiot for liking that game". No one likes a poo poo head

-About spoilers. A lot (A LOT) of games on my list are either RPG'S or story heavy games. That means spoilers. I'll do my best to keep them in spoiler tags but I might miss some, especially since some of these games are older than I am so what even counts as a spoiler anymore? But I'll do my best!

-About the way the reviews will be formatted. I have two types of reviews. Story heavy games and other games. For the story heavy ones, this is how the review will look:

First paragraph gives general details about the story
Second paragraph gives general details about the gameplay
Starting after those two will be my opinions on the story, gameplay, characters, and world. I'll also have a general impressions bit at the beginning (stuff that doesn't fit in the other categories and my general experience with the game) and a few sentences at the end to sum up my opinion.

For the second type it will look like this:
General story info
General gameplay info
General opinions

Also I will link to each review in my first post up there so you can just skip to the ones you want to read :D

I'll also be posting these up at about 3 per day because I have almost 100 and I don't feel like taking forever to do this

97. Grand Theft Auto (Series) (PlayStation 2)
62284

I'm lumping together GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas because honestly they're all interchangeable to me. I'd like to give you a story but . This was never a game I played for the story. I think it involves crime. It might be a crime story.

62285

This is how I played the game. Steal someone's car and go around the map, obeying all traffic laws. Might go for a walk sometimes. I'm pretty sure there are missions you can do to progress the story and stuff. I imagine they'll tell you what you need to do.

62286
Yes, apparently there are indeed missions

If you're thinking that I'm the most boring GTA player ever, then you are correct. But that's why I like this game. I can just grab a car (and another one when I see one I like more) and drive around and see the sights and the people. Everyone hated taking turns with me because they'd be blowing up helicopters and getting arrested and I'm taking a nice stroll through the streets at a moderate speed and not doing much else. For me, this is my fantasy type of driving. Not having to worry about getting in to a legitimate car crash and dying. There are no consequences, I don't have to worry about other drivers, I can just drive. And for me, that makes this game fun in a really odd sort of way.

96. Family Feud (Nintendo DS/Wii)
62290

Yep this is on my list. Don't even care. It's a game about... competing families playing a game show for money. But the video game versions don't actually let you win money.

62291

The game is played like the game show. Pre-show they survey 100 people and ask them a question. Then you have to find the most popular answers for that question to score points. There's also a type of speed round at the end.

62292
Coke?

I love the Family Feud. It's the only game show I actually go out of my way to watch. I don't know why, I just think its fun and silly and I like trying to guess what type of answers other people have come up with. Some of it is pretty surprising. So because I like the show, I like the game! Its fun to play in groups or just by myself if I don't want something more serious.

FYI the basic requirement for a game to make this list is that I liked it enough to want to replay it

One of the funniest experiences i ever had with just cause 2 (an open world game kind of like gta, at least with regards to this story) was when a friend in college refused to break the law while he was playing. We already stole the car for him. He was going at a moderate pace in his lane, stopping at stop signs, etc. At some point there was a fire truck which we kept begging him to steal, but he'd keep responding with "I don't have the qualifications to drive that thing." eventually he hit a loop and he was very frustrated that he couldn't leave it because he didn't have a turn signal. In the end he accidentally ran over a guy and refused to play the game again.

You should have told him to hold out his arm. Hand signals are perfectly acceptable, legally, in a car which lacks light signals.

I think someone did point that out, and his point was that his character couldn't do that, so it wasn't something other drivers could see. It's one of those you had to be there moments to understand why it's so funny (mainly, you'd need to understand the personality of the person). Or at least just being able to hear his reactions. The whole point is that following the rules of the road in these games can still make for a humorous thing to watch!

Family Feud is an interesting and ballsy choice especially placing it higher than gaming darling GTA. Bold move Pumpkin. :hattip:

Thinking about it, there aren't many games better than GTA for how Pumpkin likes to play. I was thinking she should try Need For Speed or some other game which has a greater focus on driving, but most of those are built for cruising and racing, and you lose the busy city atmosphere and traffic laws.

I'd say Saint's Row IV is superior, though. If only because you can listen to Zinyak read Pride and Prejudice while driving around (which I have done plenty of times).

I used to work 12 hour shifts in an area that didn't have much going on, and I worked nights. So to stay on schedule over my weekends I played a lot of video games. Also working out and books, but video games.

I played so much of the first GTA on the PS2 that it became a compulsion. I'd fire up the game, and spend 2 hours mindlessly causing chaos around the city. No missions, just chaos.

So at one point I walked out of my apartment (IRL) to go somewhere, and saw an ambulance sitting in the parking lot. I naturally took a few steps towards the ambulance because I was so used to stealing them before I reminded myself I wasn't in the game. My brain just saw the ambulance and said, "Welp! There's my ride!"

I decided it was probably time I take a break from GTA for a while.

For your reading pleasure, Pumpkin, someone actually wrote a 'Pacifist Niko' guide (http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps3/933036-grand-theft-auto-iv/faqs/53480) for GTA IV.

For reference, Xbox 360/PS3 generation only:

1. Saints Row 2
2. Saints Row 4
3. GTA V
4. Sleeping Dogs
5. Saints Row 3
6. Saints Row
7. GTA IV

GTA Rankings:
1. San Andreas
2. Vice City
3. V
4. III
5. 2
6. London
7. 1
8. IV

IV obviously not the worst from a technical standpoint but for its time, the writing and low level of freedom to complete your objectives. "Chase this car and blow it up, but it can only take damage after you've seen the totally dramatic (but scripted) truck swerve out of its path!!!" Though that said, its DLC was a vast improvement.

Thinking about it, there aren't many games better than GTA for how Pumpkin likes to play.

I'm glad you mentioned this Skyblade because it brings us to the next entry on the list

95. Driver (PlayStation)
62302

Driver is a game about a uhm driver. Once again, never played the story. Although I did attempt it, but could never get past the training parking garage. So I just used the save file that was there (more on that in a minute).

62303
This is your car on drugs

So once again I couldn't tell you what the objectives of the game are, but they have some story separate sections you can play. My personal favourites were free drive, because I could drive around freely, and crosstown checkpoint. I never did the checkpoints, I essentially used it as a cop free version of free drive.

62304

Is Driver by any means a better game than GTA? No, not at all. Not even close. But it ranked higher because of my memories with it. I moved around a lot as a child and one of the houses I stayed in, I was stuck in the basement a lot. But the basement had a PlayStation, and Driver. (And some other things but those don't pertain to the story). The person playing only had Miami and San Francisco unlocked, but boy did I have some fun in those two areas. I would spend hours playing this game. San Francisco was harder because you'd get bumps on your car just from the hills, and in free mode the cops would start chasing you and smashing you up for barely any reason at all. And you couldn't get out of your car, I don't think. But I still had fun doing the same thing I essentially did in GTA. I'd pretend I was commuting to work and then going home. And parking lots, I LOVED parking. Overall it was just such a fun experience when I needed some fun. I never tried the other areas, but its one of my goals to go back and unlock them all some day.

Indeed, the scripting ruined that game. Total freedom outside of missions, zero freedom within missions. V is guilty of this too. "Burn this house by spreading this fuel and setting it on fire, but don't stray from the path we've set out for you otherwise mission failed!" I'm playing a psychopath, I want to set it on fire while I'm still in the middle of living room darn it! Let me do what I want :shifty:

94. Pokemon Leaf Green (Gameboy Advance)
62316

Pokemon Leaf Green is about the trainer (the player) going off and catching Pokemon and defeating Gym Leaders so he or she can one day defeat the Elite Four and become the Pokemon Master. There's usually a side plot involving some evil organization, but I can't remember this one.

In Pokemon Leaf Green, you have the choice of three Pokemon at the start, Charmander (Fire Type), Squirtle (Water Type), and Bulbasaur (Grass Type). Then you go out and battle pokemon for EXP to level up your Pokemon, who can sometimes evolve in to stronger Pokemon. You can also catch wild Pokemon and add them to your team. You can bring 6 with you at a time. Pokemon have types associated with them and each type is weak or strong against other types. You challenge gym leaders, who usually specialize in a certain type, and if you defeat them you win a badge. After getting all of the badges, you can challenge the Elite Four for the title of Pokemon Master.

I'd always wanted a Pokemon game but I wasn't able to play any until adulthood because I never had a handheld system when I was younger and people absolutely hate sharing their Pokemon games. This wasn't the first one I got my hands on, it was the second, but it was still a lot of fun. These were the Pokemon I knew from the show and I got to use my favourite Pokemon (Squirtle) and catch all the cute ones I'd seen on TV and wanted. It was worth the wait and I had a lot of fun with it.

Yeah I know. I go the opposite way now because I know how it feels. Someone will be like "Can I play? I won't save or anything?" and I'm like "Pssh go for it. I'll just play one of my other Pokemon games."

Normally I'm pretty free with sharing, but I am incredibly, incredibly paranoid when it comes to save data. Fortunately, I almost always have a spare Pokémon game lying around should someone ask. But if someone wants to play anything that is hooked up to my actual save data, I get incredibly possessive and will watch them like a hawk.

I'd rather lose a game than lose a save file. I can replace the game. Save data is gone forever.

In a world where allowing multiple save files is the norm, only Pokemon stands out as still insisting that you only have one save file damn you replayers.

I remember Driver. I remember how odd it was a premise of a game: just drive around, being chased by cops. I mean, it doesn't really sound that exciting, but if you threw in some gunfights and walking around and you've effectively got a GTA game.

Talking about GTA, the thing that nearly ruined me for V was just the amounts of mini-games there was. You couldn't get past the mini-map without first having to peer through map icons from everything to golf, yoga, tennis... it just seemed like padding. Say what you will about IV, at least it made the game relatively simple; too simple, really. The only bugbear I remember was getting a friend's approval up, but even then at least you could hear the in-car banter.

Fantastic list so far, keep it up!

93. don't take it personally, babe, it just ain't your story (PC)
62324

This is a visual novel about a school teacher who starts teaching a new class and has access to the students computers through his own. The story is largely told through the social media they use and their status updates, which is one of the major plot points.

62325

Since it's a visual novel, it's basically like an interactive book. You get some choices here or there which will affect certain scenes. This game also allows you to take a break from conversations and read the student's social media stuff as well.

62326

I liked this visual novel because of its commentary on not just social media, but on visual novels in general. I do enjoy them here or there but some of them are just so overly dramatic and it gets really weird. This one had a part where it seemed like it was going the very dramatic route, only to turn around and show that things were blown up to be a much bigger deal than it actually was. It also gets a little spooky at times, but in a good way. Overall it was amusing and a bit of a breath of fresh air.

I've actually heard a really good explanation once for why the Pokémon games came in two varieties when the original games came out. Though I sadly can't find it anymore. Now it's just half money-grabbing, and half "tradition". The GTN and Pokebank pretty much eliminate the original reasons.

The single save file thing is easy to explain: To keep legendaries and event Pokémon rare. It's annoying, but they have no reason to stop at this point.

Not sure how many people have played this entry but here we go. Also, I've played none of the sequels

92. Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy (PlayStation 2)
62329

Jak and Daxter is about two friends, some bad guys, and one of them being turned in to some weird orange otter/weasel creature and them trying to turn him back. There's some sages that pertain to the story as well.

62330

This is, I'm told, a platforming game. You play as Jak and go around swirling and jumping and defeating bad guys through many levels which include things like lava and other such things trying to kill you.

62331
The motorcycle thing was amazingly fun

Jak and Daxter was one of my first PS2 games ever and I played the crap out of it when I was younger. I sucked at it and it took me forever, but I still had a lot of fun. There were some genuinely interesting areas, some really fun spots, funny moments, and some good characters. It'll never be my favourite game, but I look back at my hours spent with it and I regret nothing. Would play again happily.

62332

Fun game. Silly, mindless fun. It had a fair amount of humor to it. It also had the typical "go collect these random colored balls/diamonds/orbs/pendants" style quest that were typical platforming fair.

I played it, beat it, liked it, and never got another one. The sequels looked like they were trying to make it too dark and serious after the first one.

Shauna

Ottsel.

And I really like this game. Jak II did become a bit more dark, and a huge amount more difficult. Jak 3 eased off that a bit and went back to a happier more fun sort of thing. All in all a pretty fun series.

Good news, everyone! Thanks to one of the things I needed to do, I can now post 3 entries a day. So now this list will only take a month instead of almost 2! yaaaay!

Second and last visual novel on my list:

91. Hakuouki ~Demon of the Fleeting Blossom~ (PSP)
62333

Hakuouki (or Hakuoki with an accent over the o that I can't type) follows a young woman as she goes out in search of her father. Along the way she is attacked by crazy men, saved by more crazy men, who she forms a bond with, and eventually learns that some strange stuff has been going on.

62334
I tried so hard to get this guy's route
He never hugged me like that ;__;

Hakuouki is a visual novel, meaning it's basically an interactive book with branching paths. There are several paths involving the main characters depending on your choices during the story.

62335

You can ask sharky about this one, I had my face in my PSP almost non stop when I started. The story really grabbed me, it was weird, but still sweet and touching. Some of the art and writing was beautiful, and most of the characters were interesting. It has a lot of drama and some twists and turns, but I never felt it was overdone. It was a bit creepy at times, but it added to the overall atmosphere, which I really enjoyed. It wasn't very long, but there are a lot of different paths and it's easy to replay. Overall great story and atmosphere.

Now this one I haven't ever heard of. But you make it sound interesting. I don't have a PSP, but it seems there are also English releases on PS3 and Android, so I might just go and check it out. I don't see too many visual novels with a female POV character.

So that's all the visual novels. I almost expected Phoenix Wright to pop up given that it's quite easily the most well-known Japanese visual novel(though it borders on being an adventure game) in America and Europe. Oh well, it seems a couple of great visual novels are coming to Steam this year so I'm hopeful that the medium will get more exposure ^^

With that out of the way, let's see how many of the next 90 games I know or have played...

90. The Promised Land (PC)
62340

The Promised Land is about a group of settlers. It's not a super deep story. You're basically colonizing the land and searching for some things and making the place a nice little place to be while fulfilling your goals.

62341

In this game, you will receive goals you have to fulfill and also some little people that you will assign tasks. Each person has something they love and hate doing. Putting them on a task they hate will make them much slower, and putting them on one they love will be faster. Eventually they will become specialists in a certain area if you keep them there long enough. There's lots of things you need to make sure they do, like gather food, lumber, ores, research, build houses, etc. You also have to make sure they eat, and heal them if they're sick. One you assign someone their task, they will continue doing it until they break for food or until you switch them or until they run out of supplies. A few other reasons but you get the idea. There's also an angry birds type mini game with the ships.

62342
This is Mark. He likes to work at the Metal smith's shop
because he knows his wife won't find him there.
He suspects his co-worker Martin is a stoner

This is the only Steam game I've bought that I am actually happy I bought. I mean the others I'm okay with, but I barely played them and moved on. This game is super fun, though. You really start to care about your little worker bees and I started assigning them personalities and back stories. It's kind of addictive. I'm always like “10 more minutes” and I'll be playing for an hour and then I HAVE to stop because my computer sucks and it will shut down the game after too long. I'd say a fault is the difficulty. Not that it's difficult, but just that there will be certain points where things will get really hard and then suddenly they will be too easy and you kind of have nothing to do. But overall a really fun game and I'm glad I got Steam just for it.

62343

Later today, we will get in to the 80's :jess:

Pumpkin

89. Pokemon Stadium (Nintendo 64)
62356

I don't know what the story is here. Is there even one? You're apparently battling Pokemon in the Pokemon Stadium.

62357

This game centers largely around the Pokemon battling. You can enter different tournaments, which will allow for different types of Pokemon. They also have a mini-game section and some other stuff. There are a wide variety of mini-games involving different goals.

62358

This was actually my very first Pokemon game. I really enjoyed it. I liked having to choose different teams for different tournaments and pretending I was the awesomest Pokemon trainer ever. But the real joy came from the mini-games. I could waste HOURS on those things. The Rattata run and the Lickitung ones were my favourite, but I enjoyed all of them. Some were hard on the hands though and the game has given me a fair amount of finger blisters. Still, not the best Pokemon game I've played by far, but so much fun and lots of good memories.

88. Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage (PlayStation)
http://i.imgur.com/6HenWEW.gif

This Spyro game is about how poor Spyro can't even take a vacation without having to defeat comical, dragon hating villains.

62366

This game plays similar to other Spyro games of the time. You can leap, glide, breathe fire, and headbut things. You go through portals in to other worlds which have different environments, you collect gems and talismans and orbs. Certain levels also have little mini-games in them as well. Your dragonfly acts as your life bar, turning from yellow to blue to green and then disappearing. If you're attacked after he has disappeared you'll lose a life.

62367

I had a lot of fun with this game. I love going in to different worlds (especially the underwater ones) and seeing the different little creatures who lived there. The series has (had?) a good sense of humour and were generally just a joy to play. I always got excited for the new worlds, and this is one of the few games I try to complete to 100%. Spyro is a pretty likeable guy and although the story is pretty shallow, it's still entertaining.

87. Princess Debut (Nintendo DS)
62378

Princess Debut is a story of a regular girl who looks exactly like the princess of some different world of sorts and as such is asked by that princess to take her place in the other world for a while because there's a ball coming up and the Princess totally can't dance. Of course our heroine agrees to this like any sane person would.

62379

The game is kind of a point and click almost visual novel dating sim with some dance parts during which you slide your stylus as instructed. A large part of the game is finding the perfect prince to dance with, which leads to multiple available endings. You also gain magical accessories which give you different dance outfits and you unlock new dances and songs as you go.

62380

Yes, this game could possibly take the crown for girliest game on my list, but whatever it is super fun. It's very campy, very safe for kids, although there is a disturbing scene where two women practically force themselves on one of the princes, although the game doesn't go in to much detail about it (it is a kids game) and instead just shows that they aren't very good people. But overall it's silly, it's fun, it's got cute art. I loved collecting accessories and seeing what the new outfits would look like. Some of the dances were harder, but still a pretty easy and short game. Good for something more lighthearted.

86. RPG Maker 3 (PlayStation 2)
62383

It's an RPG maker! You make the story whatever you want it to be! Sharky and I made one about going on an epic quest to bake a cake, which required traveling across the world for ingredients. It may or may not have been a commentary on Suikoden's “soap” mission.

62384

This game is fairly easy to understand once you get more familiar with everything. That isn't to say there's not a lot to keep track of, but the game does a fairly good job of making things clear and easy to understand.

62385

I tried the first RPG Maker, but I couldn't figure it out. Luckily this one was much more straightforward. I had a lot of fun and I loved having that kind of freedom to make my own game. It's not perfect by any means, the character selection for example is limited, as is the number of characters you can make, but for what it is, it was a lot of fun. I definitely intend to play again!

85. Soul Calibur II (PlayStation 2)
62387

It's a fighting game and I've never cared about the stories in these. I think it's about an evil sword. There's a good sword too, I think. I don't know. I just beat stuff up.

62388

Soul Calibur is a fighting game, so you get in to fights and beat other people up. Characters also have different types of weapons. For this game, pressing triangle will execute a vertical strike, square a horizontal, O will do a kick, and X will guard. Pressing the buttons in different orders at different times will result in combos (which you can see and learn in each characters command menu). Aside from the usual fighting game modes like arcade, time attack, etc, there's also a “mission” type mode where you move along tiles on a map and fulfill certain conditions in each corresponding area.

62389

This was my first Soul Calibur games, and I had a lot of fun playing it! I liked the aspect of using weapons, which is something I wasn't familiar with after being a Tekken fan (except for that cheating Yoshimitsu!) so that was pretty unique to me. I also liked the creative levels, like bouncing people off of things or fighting in heavy winds. It had a great character selection and some beautiful levels as well.

Favourite character: Talim 62390
Honourable mentions: Xianghua, Seung Mina, Sophitia 623916239262393

Talim is my favourite fighting game character to use ever. She's quick and he moves combine really well. I essentially suck at fighting games (and all games) but she's really easy to use and I can use her well. More importantly, she's fun to use. Xianghua is my second favourite to use and I got pretty good at her. I like Seung Mina and Sophitia a good bit as well, although not quite as much.

I've always loved Soul Calibur II. I'd play it pretty often with some of my high school friends. I did enjoy the character creation in later entries, especially with regards to just doing quick randomly generated characters. I'd often get some hilarious results. These games are coming thick and fast!

I adored Pokemon Stadium when it came out. I too spent most of my time on the mini games. I actually used to play my gameboy pokemon games on the N64. What of it?

84. Soul Calibur III (PlayStation 2)
62409

Same as the last game. Evil sword and a good sword maybe? What little I know about the game is all thanks to what I've heard and not actually from playing the game multiple times. It's a fighting game, I'm just there to beat people up in impractical battle arenas.

62410

Same as the last one for the most part. Characters have weapons. Triangle performs a vertical strike, square is horizontal, O is a kick, and X guards. Each character has their own moves list and own set of combos. This game also has the added create a soul section where you can create your own character.

62411

This was my second Soul Calibur game, and although I don't have a huge preference for it, I did like it a bit more. I found some areas and characters looked a little more polished, and I liked some of the available outfits more. Sounds silly, but that's something I enjoy in fighting games. I still really enjoy the character selection and the play style. The game is easy to get in to and a lot of fun. Mostly what pushes this one slightly above the other one is being able to create my own character and have them get their own unique story mode. That was something I really liked.

Favourite character: Talim 62412
Honourable mentions: Xinaghua, Seung Mina, Sophitia 624136241462415

TALIM IS MY FAVORITE TOO! I kick so much butt with her! Then they took her out in the newer one :(

Ahhh I missed so many

I loved the pokemon stadium mini games. I also would play my red, blue, yellow, silver and gold through the extra pack thing on stadium. I thought it was so cool to play it on a tv.

Ripto's rage is still, to this day, the only game I have gotten 100% on.

Oh good! It's my first time doing one of my long reviews and its for a game everyone hates. Yay!

83. Final Fantasy XIII (PlayStation 3)
62421

Final Fantasy XIII follows a group of people who were part of a “purge” which led them to being turned in to l'Cie. As l'Cie, they have two options: Find out what their 'focus' is and complete it, living eternally as a crystal, or don't complete their focus and turn in to horrible monsters.

Final Fantasy XIII has a unique take on the Final Fantasy battle system. It has the ATB bars once again, but this time there are several, they fill up quickly, and different actions use a different amount of the ATB bars. You can also allow the computer to decide for you which actions to take. You'll only control one character mainly, although later on in the game you can choose who it is. The Paradigm system is an important part of gameplay. It's a system that allows you to assign roles to your characters (almost like job classes) and you can switch between them in battle depending on your strategy. It has 6 main playable characters, 3 playable in battle at once, and 2 guest characters.

62422

General impressions:
Final Fantasy XIII was not what I expected out of a Final Fantasy game. It was very linear, had no conventional towns to explore, very little downtime, you could only control one character at a time, the ability system sucked, and if your main character died it was game over even if everyone else was fine. I was disappointed. This wasn't what I wanted in a Final Fantasy. BUT, once I looked past the title, I realized it was a game I genuinely enjoyed. Was it my favourite? No, I mean look it didn't even make it out of the 80's and it certainly isn't without faults, but I do have fun playing this game. I love the paradigm system, some areas are gorgeous, I like some of the characters, the story is interesting to me, and I just enjoy it. It will never be my favourite game but I'd certainly play it again.

Story:
The story, I will say right now, did not live up to its potential. It was not well told. But aside from that, it actually was very interesting to me. The whole l'Cie thing kept me on my toes and wondering what I would do in that situation. Turn in to a crystal and practically die that way, or turn in to a monster? Running away from your home, being called traitors when what happened was through no fault of your own. The touching moments with Sazh, the touching moments with him and his son, learning the truth about Vanille. It was all good. If it was told properly it would be one of my favourites in the whole series. Overall I really like it.

62423

Gameplay:
Some positive and negatives here as well. On the one hand the game is too linear and the battle system goes too fast for me to do anything but select auto battle. On the other hand, the paradigm system I absolutely adore and it added a lot of involvement. Learning what paradigms to use when was the difference between a swift victory or an utter defeat. Learning the ins and outs of each paradigm, what they were good for, when to use them, was very exciting and I loved it.

62424

World:
The world was absolutely gorgeous. It's just a shame it wasn't more explorable. There were some beautiful locations, but my favourites would be the Sunleth Waterscape and the frozen Lake Bresha. Lake bresha especially takes my breathe away every time I see it.

62425

Characters:
The characters I am torn on. I actually really like Sazh, Fang, and Vanille. I wish they'd kept Fang and Vanille as a couple because they make one of the better couples in the series. I didn't like Snow although I can appreciate that he was a great, loyal, and caring guy. Just a bit enthusiastic for my tastes. I hated Lightning and Hope. Hated. The chapters where I was stuck with them were the worst. Like both of you stop whining my goodness.

Favourite character: Fang 62427
Honourable mentions: Sazh, Vanille 6242862429

I actually didn't like Fang my first time around. Now she's my favourite. Heck, I would date her if I was single and she was real. She's strong, confident, no nonsense. Sazh has some of the most touching scenes in the game and I didn't find Vanille annoying at all. Seeing her struggle was really touching to me.

Overall it will never be my favourite game or the best example of the series, but it's still a fun game, it had an interesting story, a great almost-romance, some touching moments, and some beautiful areas. Some definite potential here.

62426

My next FF game will be much more popular, don't worry :bounce:

I liked Fang right up till the end. The scene in Orphan's Cradle was just so preposterous and annoying that I lost all respect for the character.

Also, I liked Fang and Vanille's relationship just the way it was. Not every relationship has to be romantic. And for me it was the closest FFXIII ever got to not being melodramatic. Their relationship was the closest the story ever got to feeling true or honest. In real life, they wouldn't be a couple. They'd be best friends who maybe hooked up once but then decided it was a bad idea and went back to being good buddies.

The sad thing about the best thing about the game (the world being gorgeous) is that it's in some ways the absolute worst thing about the game. It really is gorgeous, but all that beauty is wasted because of that shitty shitty shitty camera, and because of the way the levels are laid out. All of that beauty and you spend so much time in boring hallways. All of that beauty, yet the last few areas are not engaging at all. (The Tesseract is a lazy-ass cop-out of a final stage.)

Pumpkin

I see what you're saying about their friendship. I just find them to be very sweet together and I think they would have been a really solid couple, but I hadn't thought of it the way you put it

chionos
02-02-2015, 07:45 PM
Don't mind me, though. I might just be jaded against romance in general. Who knows. Whether it was romantic or not, it was definitely the best relationship of FFXIII. Except maybe Sazh-Dazh-Choco-Chick. I almost had a feel at the end when Sazh sees Dazh again and little baby choco goes flying to Dazh. Almost had a feel, but I choked it back cause this horrible game doesn't deserve my feels.

82. Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies (Nintendo DS)
62435

Dragon Quest IX follows the player character, who is an Angel guarding over a certain village. By helping out the villagers, who can't see him or her, they can receive benevolessence which is given to Yggdrasil, the World Tree. The World Tree finally gathers enough benevolessence and is producing fyggs, a sign that the angels can move in to the Realm of the Almight, but something goes very wrong...

Dragon Quest IX plays similar to the whole other two Dragon Quest games I've played. Battles are somewhat in first person perspective with parties of four, although in this game you can make I think eight characters. You can control all characters or set up a strategy for your other teammates who will act on their own. After certain level ups, you will get points to distribute how you want towards weapons and other things, which will also let you learn new abilities. In DQIX, you create all of your party members and assign them different roles, kind of like job classes.

62436

General impressions:
Dragon Quest IX is technically the first Dragon Quest game I owned and played, but due to some circumstances I didn't get very far. But I liked it enough that I gave it another shot! I loved the character creation part and choosing the job classes. The story is charming, but paced a bit oddly, there are some endearing characters, and when you change armour the outfits actually change!! More games need to do that!

Story:
I overall like the way the Church is represented in DQ games. For once they aren't the evil organization. Mostly they're just save points. But in this game they do take on a bigger role and I do enjoy what they did with it. You have some bad people, sure, but you also have some really good people who are trying to do good things. The story was very interesting and touching to me, and I think it was pulled off well with a silent protagonist. The pacing itself was a bit odd. You get a bunch of story at once and then for a while you get a lot of side story before you get a bunch of the main story again. But overall it was good and I enjoyed it.

62437

Gameplay:
I'm split on the gameplay. Overall I like it. I liked being able to create my own party to suit my needs, that was cool. It wasn't too difficult, it was fun, and there was lots to do. Like I mentioned, I love that the clothes actually change with the armour. I'd say the biggest fault with this game is how little money they give you. It takes so long to raise enough funds for better equipment for a full party. It gets tiring after a while.

62438

World:
The world I don't find is anything special, but it isn't bad either. It's got some cute locations, a few interesting ones, and there is some diversity. The towns actually have life to them, which is nice.

62439

Characters:
The good thing about this game is you can make your own characters! I made a party of four girls named Emily, Amber, Millie, and Beenie. As far as NPC's go, there were a good amount of interesting and well written ones as well.

Overall it's not my favourite DQ game, but it was a lot of fun. You get to customize your own characters, there are so many silly puns that it becomes groan worthy and then loops back around to funny again, and it has a strong story.

81. Harvest Moon: Sunshine Islands (Nintendo DS)
62444

On Sunshine Islands, you are a farmer working on an Island. Eventually you start seeing little gnome people through not fault of your own and need to start collecting Sun Stones to raise some sunken islands. While farming. And maybe getting yourself a wife and kid. And possibly participating in events.

62445

In this game you have several things to do. Time passes, with every few seconds equalling about 10 minutes. There are four months representing the four seasons, and this affects which crops you can grow and which events take place in the village. You grow crops and tend to them, and also raise several different farm animals to get stuff like milk and cheese. You can also expand your house to include things like a kitchen where you can make dishes with your ingredients. By fulfilling certain things or just looking around, you can find Sun Stones to raise different islands, which will give you more stuff to do. There's also a dating sim aspect where you can choose a wife or husband, depending on what gender you're playing. You have to court them by giving them presents and such. There are a variety of events, from fishing contests to cooking contests, to just hanging out with the community.

62446

I really like Harvest Moon games, I think they're cute and sweet and fun. I did enjoy this one, it had some fun events and some interesting characters. But it isn't the best example of the series. It's more difficult to play and less intuitive. A lot of stuff costs a lot of money. And time goes by very quick leaving you to struggle to do everything in one day. But it's still a lot of fun, even if it is less polished for the series. The dating sim is actually easier than in some games, which i could really appreciate, and I loved seeing the love events, not just with my character, but with other couples too.

Favourite character: Julia 62448
Honourable mentions: Pierre, Sabrina 6244962450

I like Julia because she's sweet and she loves animals, although I may be a bit biased since I saw more of her scenes than anyone. She just seems like a really kind person. Sabrina is adorable with her giant glasses and she's also just super nice. Pierre emotes like no one's business and I love the faces he makes.

80. Doki Doki Universe (PlayStation 3)
62459

Doki Doki Universe is about a robot named QT3 who needs to learn about human emotions or else he'll be scrapped. He also has his balloon friend and a little girl he misses and wants to see again. So he'll travel from world to world in order to find out about human emotions.

62460
In case it wasn't clear, you are talking to sushi

This game has two parts. The first part is traveling to the different worlds and helping out the people you see there. You can do this in numerous ways, depending on what they want. You have the ability to summon certain objects, move people around, and even greet them in different ways. Each world has a general “theme” to it to help QT3 learn about different emotions. You'll also get presents with which you can decorate your home world, change your robot's look, and also the look of his flying space steed. The second part is personality quizzes that you can take around the planets to get a sort of personality profile.

62461
I picked the one on the right

First off, I love personality quizzes. Love them. And there are some really fun and silly ones in this game and I had so much fun with them. The main game itself is very sweet and touching, but also humorous. Overall the game is very easy and good for something more relaxing and sweet. But what I didn't like was that you have to pay extra for a complete game. Not all of the worlds and quizzes can be unlocked unless you pay more, and that really bothered me. It would be one thing to pay for just extras, but I don't want to pay more just to get the full game. If it wasn't for that, this game would have ranked much higher. But it's still good fun and even with the extra, it doesn't cost all that much.

62462

And that wraps up the 80's! This evening I will post up the first of the 70's!

Smurfing yes! That's my favorite Spyro game in the series.

Sorry to come in so late but SPYRO :omgomg:

So, Spyro 2 is easily my least favorite of the PS1 era (the only ones I've played), namely because even though it has the fewest MacGuffins (orbs, in this case), some of them are SO INSANELY HARD TO GET. I did it...once...many, many years after first getting the game. But even YotD's 150 dragon eggs were easier to round up than those freaking orbs. But I really hope Spyro 1 and 3 show up on this list because they're both AWESOME.

79. Tekken 2 (PlayStation)
62464

Tekken 2 is about a fighting tournament. Another fighting game that I don't pay much attention to the story. There's a devil and an angel that can shoot lasers out of their eyes though!

62465

Tekken is a fighting game, so the goal is to beat your opponent up. As with a lot of fighting games, you can also play different modes depending on what you want to play. In the Tekken series, the triangle, square, O, and X correspond to left and right punches and left and right kicks. Combining them will create combos and throws. I always set throws to the shoulder buttons because it was easier.

62466

Tekken 2 is the first game I played. No, not the first game in the series, the first game ever. And I loved it. I had thumb blisters for a good long time. I sucked at it, I still do, but it was fun. The game hasn't aged well and later entries have done what it does better, but it was still a very popular game when it came out and it did bring in a lot of fans. And it's hard to tell now but it was quite an improvement on the first one. But even though it isn't the best in the series, it's still a good game, and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Favourite character: Jun 62468
Honourable mentions: Anna 62467

I liked Jun because I thought she was pretty so I got more familiar with her move set. Fun fact: I learned a few of her moves in real life because I was such a fan. I used to like her second outfit more, but now I much prefer the first one. Although her fighting style is no longer my favourite, she was my first ever favourite video game character so that's pretty special. Anna has been a long running favourite of mine. She was basically a Nina pallet swap in this game but I still enjoyed using her a lot.

78. The Sims 3 (PlayStation 3)
62473

The Sims 3 story is whatever you want it to be! It's a life simulator, so you make some characters and give them a purpose and then see what happens.

62474

In the Sims, you make a character (or several) and then you can either build them a house yourself or move them in to an existing one. You can make friends, get married, raise kids, get a job. You also need to make sure their basic needs are taken care of. This entry is better about not having to micromanage them, but you still have to make sure they have what they need.

62475

I've never played a PC Sims game, although I hope to one day, because it will probably take out some of the limits from the console version. But even with those limits, this game is still great fun. I liked making all different types of families or households and seeing where they went. My favourite was a family that wanted to raise four kids, so they had four boys and a girl and raised them from little babies in to adults. It was so much fun to see them grow up and see where life took them. I also had a party house of six teenagers with purposely annoying personalities, and it was really funny to watch. The game is a great time sink, and the house building is awesome. There's a fire limit on the houses, which could get annoying, but I liked coming up with all different types of homes and stuff.

77. Final Fantasy VII (PlayStation)
62479
FF7 at number 77
That's a lot of 7's

Final Fantasy VII follows our hero Cloud who is hired on to assist an eco-terrorist group called AVALANCHE as they try to stop the evil Shinra corporation from destroying the Planet. Eventually their journey takes them well outside of the city of Midgar and Cloud learns a bit more about himself than he could have imagined.

This game is similar in some ways to the FF series. The battles use the ATB system and a menu to select Attack, Item, or other such commands. In this game, abilities are used by equiping Materia to weapon slots. Each Materia has its own use, such as allowing the character to use Fire or Ice, or other effects such as allowing the character to target all enemies or allies. There are a total of 9 playable characters, 2 of them being optional, with 3 being usable in battle at a time.

62480
This part was really fun

General impressions:
My opinion of Final Fantasy VII has changed over the years. This was the fourth Final Fantasy game I ever played. The three I played immediately before it (I got them all at the same time) I absolutely adored. But this one for some reason I did not. I made it about halfway through Disc 1. A few years later, after hearing more about it and learning how much people love this game, I gave it another shot. Made it almost through Disc 1. A while later I tried again, this time forcing myself over the Disc 1 hill... and then stopped. It was only within the past 2 years or so that I finally set out to finish this game. I pushed through that Disc 1 that couldn't keep me invested, and... I liked it a lot better. I think it greatly improves after the climax of the first disc, and I think a large part of why I didn't like it was because of Aeris. With that being said, I still don't like it nearly as much as a lot of other Final Fantasy games, but it is a solid game and I'm glad I stuck it out.

Story:
The story I think had a lot of potential. I always love stories that add in some psychological aspect and especially one about learning one's own identity. But sadly for me it fell a bit flat. A large part of it might be because I wasn't given a cast of characters I actually cared about, but some of it was just poor story telling. I understand the general story, but some of it just still won't stick in my mind. I have no trouble following some more complex stories (Xenogears) and they get me invested and interested but this one just wasn't told in a way I could follow, understand, and sympathize with. But it was still a good overall story and it dealt with some interesting themes, which I appreciated. It also had some beautiful and touching scenes that really stuck with me, specifically Dyne committing suicide and Red XIII and his father shedding those tears.

62481

Gameplay:
The gameplay I overall enjoyed. The controls were clunky and uncomfortable, and I didn't like losing Materia slots when changing equipment (I liked to keep the same Materia on my characters at all times) but other than that it was pretty fun. I liked being able to customize my characters, the Limit Break system was pretty well done, it had a wide variety of side-quests and mini-games to enjoy, and it was easy as all heck, which I really liked. Overall pretty fun.

62482

World:
This world was pretty forgettable to me, save a few areas here and there. Most of it didn't get me excited, and I need to see a world map to remember most of it. But I did really like Cosmo Canyon for the story and the awesome music, and also Icicle Inn because it's pretty and snowy, which I really liked.

62483

Characters:
Overall I'm not a huge fan of the cast. I really like Red XIII, I don't mind Tifa, Cait Sith and Yuffie are kind of meh, Barret has grown on me, and the rest I pretty much hate. But I do like the amount of development they get and also some of the relationships between them. Like the friendship between Barret and Tifa I find to be really well written and under appreciated.

Favourite character: Red XIII 62484
Honourable mention: Tifa 62485

I like Red XIII for his attitude and maturity and the scenes with his father were heartbreaking and touching. I'm just sad he gets so little relevance in the story. Tifa is a sweet and caring woman with some great scenes, so it's hard to go wrong there.

Overall the game is fun and easy with an interesting story and some well-written characters. For the most part I did not appreciate it's sense of humour, but I could appreciate that it actually had one. It has a great number of sidequests and mini-games to enjoy, the characters can be personalized, and it's just a fun game when you get in to it.

76. Dawn of Mana (PlayStation 2)
62487

Dawn of Mana is about Keldric and Ritzia as one day they go investigate something and before they know it, there's a small fairy, a mysterious sword, some giant crab, and then oh no Ritzia gets captured and used for her special powers...

Dawn of Mana is a very unique game in terms of gameplay. Each chapter you start back at level 1, and obtain stat boost from defeating enemies and stunning them by throwing or pushing things at them. The levels are very interactive, allowing you to grab items with your weapon or push them or even push enemies in to other enemies. Magic can be used after finding certain spirits.

62488

General impressions:
I got this game when I saw the cute character arc and wanted to give it a try. After I'd bought it, I realized it had terrible reviews and a lot of people kind of hated it. I was worried I would regret my decision to buy it and put off playing it for a while. But eventually my backlog was getting smaller and smaller and it was time. Luckily for me, I was pleasantly surprised! The game is by no means without its glaring faults, but overall I had a lot of fun and I found it to be a very charming and endearing game.

Story:
Definitely the highlight of the game. It's very short, but it still has an impact. The ending made me cry so much and it was so beautifully told, especially accompanied by the wonderful music this game has. Seriously, it's quite possibly my favourite video game soundtrack ever. But the ending was just so touching, after spending the whole game trying to rescue Ritzia just to have to fight her at the end. It would have been better if the game was longer and more fleshed out, but it still had a big impact and caused some waterworks on my part.

62489

Gameplay:
By far the weak point of this game. While I like some of the ideas in theory, having to pay attention to your surroundings and use your environment, the controls were wonky, the boss battles absurdly hard, and the gameplay overall was just frustrating and unintuitive. It was a lot of work to get it to do what I wanted it to do.

62490

World:
There were some very pretty locations and the best part was how interactive they were (although the concept failed, see above paragraph). It was fun to think that those scenic and pretty pillars could be dropped on an enemy head. I wouldn't say it was anything special, but it wasn't boring either. There was also some beautiful artwork of some areas when introducing the chapters.

62491

Characters:
I found them all very charming and likeable. Not just the main characters, but also the spirits like Undine and Salamander and them. I always got excited when I would see them. The relationship between the main two is just great, one of the best things about the game.

Favourite character: Dryad 62492
Honourable mention: Ritzia 62493

Dryad was just so cute and charming and sweet! How could I not like her? I didn't use her magic much though. Ritzia was a huge part of why I like this game and as I mentioned I found her story was beautifully told. She was also such a nice sweet girl, which added to the impact of what she'd become.

Overall if you want a short, and touching story and can forgive awful gameplay then this game is worth checking out. However, the gameplay is quite bad and frustrating, but to me it was worth suffering through.

It is a very pretty game

In all honesty, it is extremely short, so I'd recommend watching a LP of it. Very pretty, beautiful music, good story, gosh awful gameplay. People can try it for themselves and see if they can deal with it but it's pretty bad and it would be a shame to let the rest of it go to waste because of that

75. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (Nintendo Wii)
62499

Twilight Princess follows our hero Link, who's peaceful existence in his little village is abruptly interrupted by unknown intruders one day. Suddenly he finds himself somewhere unknown and somehow transformed in to a wolf.

The version I played was on the Wii. To slash Link's sword you need to actually move the remote in different ways for different attacks. Different objects could be set to the arrow buttons and set to B for use. Aiming would require pointing the remote to the screen. In this game, Link will also turn in to a wolf, where he will gain different skills such as being able to use his senses to see things he normally wouldn't, as well as being able to dig.

62500

General impressions:
This is actually the last game I played for my list. I'd tried it briefly before but I wasn't too sure what to expect. Although I like it, it is by no means my favourite Zelda game. A lot of it had to do with the difficulty and my lack of skill with the Wii remote. The game was also straight up creepy at certain points, but I did like the way they used it and it gets better as it goes. It was a very solid and decent game and I'd recommend it to any Zelda fan, but to me it doesn't stand out in the series. I will say its reminds me a tremendous amount of Ocarina of Time, from locations to pacing, especially in the beginning. So that was really interesting as well.

Story:
The story is very interesting and my favourite part of the game. It told a very interesting story and it told it well. The game really had me invested to see what would happen next. It had a good amount of suspense which I really enjoyed and I didn't always know where the story was going. There were a few obvious things, like when Midna calls Zelda the Twilight Princess and I was automatically thinking "I thought she was the Twilight Princess?" but in general I wasn't always sure what would happen next, which was a positive. Overall it was really interesting and it had great atmosphere.

62501

Gameplay:
The gameplay was the hard part for me. I'm just not good with the controls, so even weak enemies could prove to be a challenge. Not to mention I'm not always the best at puzzles, but this one wasn't one of the more challenging ones in the series as far as that went. I do think some of Link's gadgets become more useful and interesting, such as the boomerang and the iron boots.

62502

World:
The world was very interesting, especially since it had two parts. The world of light and the world of twilight. The world of twilight was creepy as all heck, especially early on in the game, but the world of light was kind of darker and more drab on its own. But I did enjoy seeing the differences between the two and the effects that each one had.

62503

Characters:
It's a Zelda game so there isn't a large importance played on characters. But Midna was certainly an interesting sidekick and I grew to like her more as time went on. She certainly occupied a bigger role than most sidekicks in the series. There were a few characters who stood out here and there, but it was nothing special.

Overall a strong game in the Zelda series, but a bit too difficult for my personal tastes. Still, it had an interesting story and it conveyed a great tone.

Twilight Princess is my favourite 3D Zelda actually. I loved the more mature look of the game as opposed to Ocarina of time and definitely Wind Waker. I had a much harder time with the dungeons in it too. A couple were particularly frustrating and not enjoyable but overall I enjoyed the challenge.

Only A Link to the Past and Link Between Worlds are better Zelda games in my opinion.

LttP is the best Zelda ever, and that's certainly not pure nostalgia talking. :shifty:

Link's Awakening is the under appreciated gem. People hated the ending, but I think it's earned more appreciation over the years.

I like to think running around with a Chain Chomp (even if it was short lived) made up for any shortcomings the ending had. :)

There should have been an unlockable option to replace Epona with Bow-Wow in later games. >: |

74. Ys Seven (PSP)
62506

Ys Seven follows the hero, Adol, and his friend, Dogi, as they venture to a new land. But being the hero he is, it doesn't take long before he gets involved in a struggle involving the different tribes and the revival of the Dragon Gods...

This is an action RPG. You go up to enemies and hit them with your sword. By attacking you can fill and refill the bar for performing character skills. By performing character skills you build up your bar to unleash the powerful special attacks. There are also different types of attacks that are effective against different enemies, and the player can switch between part members depending on the type of attack needed. There are 9 total playable characters, although some are temporary, and 3 are usable in battle at a time.

62507

General impressions:
I'd played one Ys game before but it was a long time ago and I didn't remember it. But for Christmas from sharky I got the special edition of this game with a little art book and everything, so of course I had to give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised. It was easy to get in to, it had a variety of playable characters, and an interesting story with an ending that made an impact. Overall it was a really fun game.

Story:
The story is actually very strong I find. It kept me interested the whole way through and the plot twists actually did surprise me and weren't very obvious. I liked seeing the internal conflict of the nation as an outside observer and I was always curious as to what would happen next. The ending was incredibly sad and touching, especially when you grow to care about the characters and what's happening to them. It's also got a good sense of humour, which I could appreciate.

62508

Gameplay:
The game was pretty fun and straightforward and also not too difficult. The negatives I can think of are how often you get your party swapped around for the first half of the game, but that's a pretty minor complaint because it mostly fit the story. The other complain being that they give you the super useful teleport option and take it away shortly after. But other than that it was really fun, and even things like swapping party members was made very easy and fluid.

62509

World:
This game has a vast world to explore with many different areas to provide different sights, which I'm a big fan of. Obviously some I liked more than others, but I did get excited to see where I would be going next and what the area would be like.

62510

Characters:
The characters were a pretty strong point in the game and I can't think of one character I disliked. They were all well written and interesting and provided something unique for the party. Even the non-playable characters were some of the best written, and all of that led to a very touching and emotional ending segment. Even the silent hero managed to have some personality, which isn't always easy to pull off.

Favourite character: Cruxie 62511
Honourable mention: Mishera 62512

I like Cruxie for how strong of a person she is. Despite her illness she never gives up, she stands up for herself, and she keeps fighting. I think she might even be the strongest attacker of the playable characters. I just admire her strength so much. Mishera is just so refined and sophisticated and wise despite her handicap, which she actually uses to her advantage. She's a great source of wisdom for the party.

Overall it's really fun to play, easy to get in to, and it has a touching and interesting story and great, likeable characters.

73. Xenogears (PlayStation)
62518

Xenogears is a story about so many things, so little of which I can tell you without spoiling it. It starts out with our protagonist, Fei, in his peaceful little village, with little memory of when he was young. It doesn't take long before his village is attacked by giant piloted robot things called Gears. Fei then has to make a decision to save his friends lives.

Xenogears has some unique features for an RPG. In battle, there are three types of attacks, each of which uses a certain amount of points to execute. The weaker attacks use less while the stronger ones use more. When all the points are spent, the turn ends. Characters also learn Deathblows by combining the different button combinations. A second aspect of the gameplay is the Gears. The gears follow a similar battle style, but they also use fuel for each action. There are 9 total playable characters with 3 usable in battle at a time.

62519

General impressions:
I'd wanted to play Xenogears since I first heard about it while playing Xenosaga, but at the time I couldn't find it in stores and I didn't have the means to order it online. So I did the next best thing and read the whole game script. It was long, and it was complicated, but the story was very deep and interesting and I very much enjoyed it. So much that I wanted more than ever to play it. Eventually I got it as a very thoughtful birthday present and I got to try it! Unfortunately I was a bit let down. The controls are clunky and I just don't find it fun to play at all. But it was still a great story with good atmosphere and interesting characters, and that's good enough for me.

Story:
By far the best thing about this game and one of my favourite video game stories ever. I enjoy reading psychological theory, one one of my favourites was the ID, Ego, and Super-ego, and here is a game that largely revolves around that. I think it did a good job of exploring different mental issues faced by the characters, it had some interesting religious references, and it had some moments that kept me at the edge of my seat wanting to know more. Excellent story if you enjoy that type of thing, but be prepared to do some reading on the side to fully understand all of it if the subject matter is not something you're familiar with.

62520

Gameplay:
The worst thing about this game to me. I did not enjoy playing it at all. The controls were clunky and awkward, they do a very poor job of explaining some important things you should know for battles, and the gears. Oh gosh the gears. I hated them with a passion. Not only did I not enjoy using the big ugly noisy gears in battle (clunk clunk clunk) but they also have fuel you need to keep an eye on. Not fun for the marathon of bosses they like to throw at you. Oh, limited fuel? Here, fight five bosses in a row. And the jumping. The jumping was tedious. As much as I'm bashing on it, it did have some neat features like the combos and such, but overall it was not a fun game to play.

62521

World:
The world is kind of depressing for the most part, although that's kind of the point, so good job to them on that one. Although I did really love Nisan and the beautiful cathedral Church it had, as well as the music and the atmosphere it provided.

62522

Characters:
My opinion on the characters is a bit odd. I think they're well written, have good depth (well, for the most part) but I don't really like or care about any of them. For me it is important to have at least one character I really like and this game didn't give me that, so it was harder for me to be more invested in their individual stories.

Overall it has a wonderful and interesting story, one of the best I've ever come across, but really bad gameplay. Makes for an excellent book.

72. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Nintendo 64)
62536

Ocarina of Time follows our hero Link as he leaves the safety of the Deku Forest and ventures out in to Hyrule in order to stop the evil Ganondorf from getting the triforce and taking over the world.

This is played in typical Zelda fashion. Enemies will usually appear as if from nowhere and you slash at them with your sword. You also get some nifty gadgets like a boomerang and arrows, which serve different purposes. Also different boots and clothes for different situations. Link is the only playable character, but he does get to ride a horse, so yeah.

62537

General impressions:
Ocarina of Time is one of the first games I ever played. The only game I played before it was Tekken 2. So it was certainly my first game with a deep story and long term goal. I do still very much enjoy the game, although it isn't my favourite Zelda game by a longshot. Still, it has a certain feel to it that I haven't found in other games. It does a great job of creating atmosphere, especially in the future where you can see and feel just how desperate times have become, and young Pumpkin often had to switch back to a child just to see the bustling town and get away from the scary parts.

Story:
I would say this is the strongest part of the game. From the first dungeon, it feels like an adventure, it invested me, it made me care about this fictional world. I had dreams about it. I wanted to save it. And I was sad when the time passed and the world was so horrible. I wanted to rush through and beat it, not just to get it done, but so the people wouldn't have to suffer any longer. There are some truly touching moments, which can be hard to accomplish with a silent protagonist.

62538

Gameply:
Zelda games will never have my favourite type of gameplay, but it's fun all the same. A lot of the dungeon puzzles really make you use your noggin. Riding the horse was awesome and a lot of the side quests were a lot of fun as well. The gameplay could be improved, but I still found it enjoyable. There's also some fun mini-games.

62539

World:
The world in this game is great. You get such a wide variety of areas, all interesting in their own way, and all providing their own challenges. After the time shift, the world changes accordingly, and its sad to see what used to be such bustling, happy places turned in to... well. My favourite was Zora's Domain because come on. Water everywhere. I would so live there.

62540

Characters:
This isn't really a character centric game, which might be why I didn't like it as much as some other games. Link is a cool dude, doing all that world saving stuff just because. You do meet some interesting people, like Princess Ruto and Saria. But sadly most of the game is spent alone, and it's very lonely in some cases.

Overall a strong game, especially if you're a fan of the series. The story is awesome, the tone is perfect, and the world is vast and beautiful.

sharky and I have had the discussion of a lot of games not having the same impact on me or even people younger than me. Tekken 2 was my first game and OoT was my second, so I didn't really grow up with 2D games from the earlier generations. I've played them now and I even played them when I was younger, but it wasn't as huge of an impact for me going from 2D to 3D because well... I started with 3D, you know?

Same with CT as will be on my list later. At the time it was a hugely influential RPG, but I'd played it after like 100 others so while I still think it's a great game, it'll never hold the same impact with me as it did with those who played it when it was new. Part of life I guess. Doesn't mean I can't appreciate these games though, just in a different way I suppose

Not sure if I'm making sense xD

71. Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Nintendo 3DS)
62551

In Animal Crossing New Leaf, the player somehow accidentally becomes the mayor of a town they just moved too. There, they build a house, make friends with the villagers, and do mayorly things like build park benches for large sums of money.

62552

Animal Crossing is interesting in that it takes place in real time. So if you make an appointment to meet one of your video game neighbours at 7 PM on Monday, you actually need to pick up your game at 7 PM on Monday. Basically you go around doing stuff like fishing, digging up treasure, catching bugs, dressing your character, and my favourite, decorating your room. You can also get house expansions and customize the town to a certain degree. Random animal people will move in or out of your town as well, and you can try to make friends with them.

62553

Overall this is a really fun game for relaxing and unwinding. I love the personalization of your character and house, even getting to decide where your house is. The main downfall of it is that you get penalized if you just aren't in the mood to play for a while and I always get dejected and just have to start all over, making it so I never make too much progress in the game. But a fun game nonetheless.

70. Super Scribblenauts (Nintendo DS)
62557

Super Scribblenauts is about um.. a kid with a magic pencil or something like that. He goes around solving odd problems.

62558

In Super Scribblenauts, you have a pencil and a notebook, and with them you can summon almost anything. If you write in the word Fish, a fish will appear before you. With that, you go through different levels and use your creativity and imagination to find solutions. One of them might be to sneak in to a party, or to make it to the key at the other end without waking up the dragon, or to find the common thing between several other things. Then you create whatever you need and try to complete the level for the highest of all rewards, the gold star.

62559
This can only end badly

This game is so much fun, and it's actually good brain exercises if you challenge yourself to not use the same items over and over again. Sure, you can grow wings for the 50th time, or you can think of something even more clever. The items you summon also don't just lay there, they actually move around and react to their surroundings. It can get quite challenging if you don't use your noggin, but it's just so silly and fun to see what kind of solutions you can come up with. The levels are also all pretty short, so its a good game to pass the time if you just need something to do for a little while.

69. Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar (Nintendo DS)
62565

Grand Bazaar, as it is a Harvest Moon game, has a large emphasis on farming. But unlike other Harvest Moon games, this one also revolves around selling your hard work at the weekly bazaar and trying to drum up business for the town. As usual, you can get married and participate in events and festivals.

62566

Like other Harvest Moon games, this game revolves largely around farming, with a dating sim aspect. There are four months, each representing a season, and seconds count as hours allowing the days to pass. By growing crops and tending to your animals, you'll have items to sell at the weekly Bazaar, which is where your income will come from. You can also woo the local ladies or gentlemen, depending on what gender you're playing, by giving them gifts and the like.

62567

This Harvest Moon is a bit different from the other ones, but I really liked my little stall at the bazaar, and it had some of my favourite characters of the series, as well as some of my favourite playable characters. Everyone is so nice and friendly and the game is just some good lighthearted fun. It's so easy to lose hours on it but it's also very relaxing and not too serious.

Favourite character: Daisy 62568

I haven't played this one, but I do generally enjoy the series. The Bazaar system sounds interesting, and it makes me wonder if it was the inspiration for the little store minigame in Rune Factory 4.

As for Super Scribblenauts, I felt some of the rooms were incredibly restrictive in terms of how you can beat them, which worked to the detriment of the game. I mean, the fun of the system is in experimenting and playing around with the word system. But there are certain stars in rooms where you have to use particular combinations to fill in a series of rooms, and it can be so particular that it falls into the standard old school adventure game system of having an idea what the puzzle wants, but not what the specific solution is.

The puzzle type: "Put an object in the box! Use adjectives to make it similar to its neighbors!" I remember creating over forty different object combinations for one of those rooms before eventually abandoning the game and looking up the solution. I don't think I've gone back to the game since.

I really, really liked the open parts of the game where there was a star somewhere and you had to figure out a way to get to it. But the more restrictive "box" rooms just utterly killed the game for me, and I felt they were way too common.

68. PokePark Wii: Pikachu's Adventure (Nintendo Wii)
62571

In this game, our hero Pikachu is separated from his friends and has to go rescue them by playing a series of mini-games in the different areas. Because that's how life works.

62572
Not especially

As I mentioned above, this game is basically a series of mini-games. One of the things you do is go around making friends with other Pokemon. You can do this by chasing them or by fighting them or other such things. And then you go to the attractions, which are different types of mini games. It ranges from swinging from rope to rope, to races, to flying through hoops, to sliding down some icy mountain. The player primarily plays as Pikachu, but in the attractions you'll have a variety of Pokemon to choose from.

62573

This game is so much fun and it had so much to do. It did get a bit repetitive by the end, but its a fun game to just pick up and start playing and have fun doing those mini-games. Remember how I said I liked the mini-games the most in Pokemon Stadium? This is essentially a game full of them. They'll also give you quite an arm workout. There were some really pretty locations to. I haven't played the second one but I very much want to try it one day if it's anything like this one.

67. Pokemon Diamond/Pearl (Nintendo DS)
62575

This Pokemon game takes place in the region of Sinnoh. Like all the Pokemon RPG's, you go out and catch Pokemon and try to beat the Elite Four and become a Pokemon Master. Some other stuff happens I guess. I dunno, I was busy catching cute Pokemon.

62576

First you pick your male or female hero, and then you get a choice of three starter Pokemon of grass, fire, or water type. The choices this time are between Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup. I of course chose Piplup. Afterwards you go out and fight Pokemon to gain EXP, which will allow your Pokemon to get stronger, learn new skills, and maybe even evolve. You can also catch Pokemon by weakening them and throwing a Pokeball at them, after which you can name them and train them. Then you go around beating gym leaders and collecting gym badges, with the end goal of battling and defeating the elite four.

62577

You've already heard part of this story. I wanted to play Pokemon games since forever and ever but life didn't let me until I lived on my own. Even when I was younger and had consoles, the man I was living with wouldn't get me a handheld because he said they were a waste of money and you couldn't see anything on that tiny screen anyway. Much sadness. But eventually I saved up and got myself a DS Lite and Pokemon Diamond. It was my first Pokemon RPG and I was super happy with it. I had stopped watching the show by that point so I didn't know who a lot of the Pokemon were, but that made it kind of special because every new Pokemon was a surprise! Overall I've had a lot of fun with Pokemon Diamond.

66. Final Fantasy Theatrhytm (Nintendo 3DS)
62581

Final Fantasy Theatrythm is about the heroes from different Final Fantasy games banding together to defeat Chaos in the name of Cosmos by... using music or whatever.

62582
Good face on Ultros

This is a rhythm game. There are three types of stages. You have battle music stages, field music stages, and event music stages. They each play slightly differently and are set to different Final Fantasy songs. Basically you will slide or tap your stylus in different ways as instructed. You can select different games from which to play the levels, or you can take a go at the Chaos Shrine and try to unlock characters more quickly.

62583

I'd never played a rhythm game before, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but my goodness did I ever play this game. I bought it to save for a road trip and ended up playing hours of it the night before. While some of it was difficult, I did eventually improve with some practice. I had so much fun that the sequel was one of my only first day purchases ever. I loved unlocking new characters, new levels, listening to the beautiful Final Fantasy music. Overall it was a really enjoyable experience and a fun little game to waste time on when you just want something more lighthearted.

65. Tomodachi Life (Nintendo 3DS)
62585

Tomodachi Life basically follows a bunch of people you create who all live in the same apartment building if and until they get married and move in to one of the neighbouring houses. You watch them do their thing, make friends, go on dates, fall in love, and maybe have some babies.

62586

As you're watching your Mii's do all of this, you can also play some mini-games with them, such as putting on a concert, helping them propose, playing guessing games, or just generally offering them advice when they ask for it. You can change their clothes and their apartments as well.

62587

I adored this game and I played it nonstop for a good while, and I fully intend to go back and play it again. Watching the Mii's grow in to people, engage with others, get married, raise families, the epic rap battles, the cute clothing, the funny item descriptions. All of it was great and so much fun. It can be a major time sink but you really grow to care for these tiny fake humans.

64. Mario (Power) Tennis (Nintendo Wii/64)
62589

I'm grouping together Mario Tennis for the N64 and Power Tennis for the Wii. If I had to pick one I'd go for the Wii because you'll actually get a workout. I'm not sure what the story is other than Tennis tournament.

62590

This is a Tennis game. So basically hit the ball when it comes in to your court and get it in to the opponents court and hope they miss it. There's also some gimmick levels, like ones where the fields move or you get stunned or other such things. You can play singles or doubles and of course can have your friends play with you.

62591

Tennis is one of my favourite sports so this game is a lot of fun for me. Especially since you can play whenever and not have to worry about weather or finding a court or whatever. The Wii version especially will give you a very good arm workout if you play it enough. It's just a fun game if Tennis is a sport you enjoy.

Favourite character: Daisy 62592
Honourable mentions: Yoshi, Peach 6259362594

I like Daisy's spunky attitude, especially in a largely male ensemble such as this. Yoshi makes the most adorable noises and I enjoy Peach's effects when she uses her special hits and all that fun stuff.

62. Katamari Forever (PlayStation 3)
62597

Um I don't quite remember what the story is about. I think the King of the Cosmos has lost his memory and there's also a depressed, passive-aggressive robot version of himself who destroyed a bunch of planets and stuff, and they have The Prince and his cousins go out and roll stuff in to a ball to make new planets and restore the King's memory.

62598

In this game, you roll stuff in to a ball. Hey, where are you going! I swear it's more fun than it sounds. You get goals for different levels, a lot of them are to make your ball a certain size, but you also get some like roll up a certain type of item or whatever. And you can also roll up Cousins, which will let you control a different little character. Then you get graded and berated by the King or his robot counter part.

62599

I'm awful at this game and I don't appreciate the remarks I get when I complete a difficult level, but the game is amazingly fun. When I heard the description it sounded like the dumbest thing ever, and it kind of is, but it's actually really fun and pretty funny. You get the weirdest music too and then you roll up stuff like giraffes and people and you can still see their legs kicking. It's so absurd that it just works and it's actually a good mood booster because of how silly it is.

62. Luminous Arc 2 (Nintendo DS)
62602

Luminous Arc 2 is about the Knights and the Witches putting aside their age old racism and feuding in order to join together and stop a rogue witch and her posse who is setting out to do something very dangerous. Our young hero also manages to get a magical device stuck on him by accident which gives him great powers.

This is a Strategy RPG, so every turn you can move your characters a certain number of squares on the battle map, and then act by attacking or using a skill. This game does have some unique features. When you land a hit, you have a bar that will increase. There are 3 total bars you can fill. These bars can be spent on either special attacks or on making regular skills stronger. The main character can also “engage” with certain witches, which will give him access to their skills and special attacks. This game also has relationship meters, and bringing specifically indicated characters in to battles will allow you to have extra scenes with them after the fight is over. The game is divided in to chapters, with each chapter taking a break from the main story to show you a short about “Kopin” (see picture below).

62603

General impressions:
I'd heard good things about Luminous Arc 2 so I decided to give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised, overall. It had a good sense of humour, interesting large cast of characters (I'm a big fan of large casts of characters), and while the story wasn't anything special, it did keep me interested. The game could get a bit difficult if you didn't do a bunch of level grinding so that could get tedious, but overall it was pretty fun.

Story:
While the story wasn't anything special, it wasn't bad either. I'm not sure if it would have had more impact if I'd played the first game, although I don't think they are direct sequels. More like the Suikoden games where you can play them out of order but they are still related? I could be wrong about that so its better to look it up. What was good about the story was the way it was told. The dialogue flowed well and it had some good down time and a really good sense of humour, making it pretty lighthearted. It was kind of refreshing because a lot of strategy RPG's like this one have such heavy stories.

62604

Gameplay:
It could be a bit difficult at times, but overall it was easy to pick up on. Really the difficult part just came from all of the grinding needed. But I enjoyed having character scenes at the end of it if you brought the right character in to battle, and there was a good range of characters to use for different strategies.

62605

World:
Being the type of game it is, the world isn't really explorable in the traditional sense. All you really have is like a background image except for the battle maps. But the map was pretty large and there were some pretty areas. Just not a lot of exploration to it.

62606

Characters:
I'd say this is the strong point of the game. The characters are all pretty interesting, I like their interactions, and they're mostly pretty funny. There's a certain charm to them that I really enjoyed and watching the character scenes was my favourite part of the game.

Favourite character: Dia 62607
Honourable mention: Althea 62608

I wasn't expecting to like Miss Dia that much (it's weird to just hear her called Dia) because she's not my usual type of preferred character. But she grew on me a lot and actually has a surprising amount of depth for this game. She's snarky and self-assured and headstrong, but she's also a bit immature for who she's supposed to be and you can see her confidence wane from time to time. Althea is just a sweet girl and she sticks to her goals and she works hard, which is very admirable.

Overall this game doesn't have the most depth and it has more than enough cliche's, but overall it was a fun, lighthearted experience with some great and funny character interactions and simple, fun gameplay.

Last one for today!

61. Record of Agarest War 2 (PlayStation 3)
A.K.A Agarest Senki and Agarest: Generations of War 2
62611

Agarest War 2 is the story of Weiss, an amnesiac man who killed a God, and has to make up for it by essentially giving his own life and also involving his child and grandchild because this is an Agarest War game and your debts never end with you.

The gameplay for this game is pretty unique and complicated and rather hard to explain. The easy part is that this game has a dating sim aspect. The game spans 3 generations. The first two generations can end up with one of 3 ladies and their child will be the next generation's hero. The last generation can be paired with any remaining female party member. One way to improve relationships is your decisions in conversations and the other one is an unspeakable evil that I wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole and also one of the reasons this game ranked lower than its already fanservicy enough predecessors. In this game you can have 4 characters in battle, and your formation will depend on which character you select as a sort of “lead”. Then you'll have different attacks depending on which button you press (Triangle, Square, O, or X), and can also activate special attacks when you build up a certain gauge. I could go in to linking and all of that but just trust me when I say its easier to understand when you play it.

62612

General impressions:
So I wasn't sure what to expect with this one. I loved the first two (yes, Agarest War 2 is actually the third one both in release and timeline) but I'd heard this one switched stuff up a good deal. In some ways this was a good thing because battles in the other two were tedious and this game made huge improvements in that regard, but on the other hand the characters and story were less interesting and this game took it way overboard with the fanservice to the point where I was genuinely uncomfortable. And for this series, that's saying something.

Story:
While there wasn't really anything wrong with the story, in fact some spots were quite interesting, it lacked the same charm of the other two games. It wasn't told in the best way and it didn't really live up to its potential. But it did have its moments and it wasn't a bad story either.

62613

Gameplay:
The best thing about this game and a huge improvement over the other two. You can actually walk around the world map, battles were made faster (but not easier if you're used to the other system), there are a lot more story events and a lot less fights to do. Even towns were made more explorable. It's an improvement on the series gameplay in almost every way.

62614

World:
The world is pretty interesting and it has it's good spots. It's still not graphically the best game but it still had some neat areas and places to explore. The battle maps do get a bit repetitive though. But the best thing is that you can actually explore the map in this game.

62615

Characters:
The characters lacked the same depth as they had in previous games and became more cliche than ever. There were still some good ones but they just didn't have as much personality to them and some of them were just downright unlikeable. But there's still a large cast so there's bound to be someone I like.

Favourite character: Aina 62616
Honourable mention: Fiona 62617

Aina was just such a sweet woman, very soft spoken, very caring. It was nice to see, especially in contrast with the main character, Weiss, and she did soften him up a little. Same thing with Fiona. Fiona also tugged at my heart strings because can you imagine being a kid and suddenly waking up and no one you know is around and your parents are gone and everything is strange and different?

Overall this game is a huge improvement on the series in terms of gameplay. The maps are explorable, battles no longer take forever, there's much more scenes and story. But the game doesn't have the same charm and depth, the fanservice is WAY over the top, and it just isn't as interesting. But it's still a fun game for fans of the series.

60. Xenosaga Episode II : Jenseits von Gut and Böse (PlayStation 2)
62637

Xenosaga Episode II takes place immediately after the conclusion of Episode I, so I would not recommend playing it before I. This episode largely explores the Miltian Conflict, an event that happened over a decade prior to the story and had a large effect on the events. It also focuses a lot on the character Jr. And his past. A good portion of the game is exploring the past and as such there is only a little actual story progression for the series.

This game switched things up a bit from the first one. Characters now have different types of attacks by pressing different buttons that are targeted at a certain “zone”. By finding a “break zone” the player will have an advantage in battle and be able to do things like knock the enemy in the air or on to the ground. Players are free to teach their characters any ability so long as they have the correct points, meaning character roles will vary greatly depending on you you customize them. The big A.G.W.S. mechs have been replaced by the even bigger mechs, the E.S., which are used at certain set points in the game. This game also has combo attacks between the characters, and a large number of sidequests called the G.S. Campaign (Global Samaritan Campaign) where you go around helping those who ask. There are 7 total playable characters with 1 kind of guest character and 3 usable in battle at a time.

62638

General impressions:
I absolutely loved the first Xenosaga game, so needless to say, I was pumped for this one. I watched the trailers so many times. In the end, I was more impressed with it than most people seemed to be. The character design changes were pretty jarring and I was not really a fan of them at all. Also some voice changes to. Especially when a game is supposed to take place right after the first one, those changes have a big impact. But overall I still liked it. I enjoyed the gameplay much more as it wasn't as needlessly complicated as the original, I loved the G.S. Campaign, and it had some wonderfully told story moments. Not as good as the rest of the series, but still a very good game that I've replayed more than once.

Story:
My main complaint about the story is how little it did to progress things overall. Very little happens to move things along and advance things, and that was pretty frustrating because I had left with a bunch of mysteries and questions and this game didn't answer very many of them. But it did a great job of telling some back story for two of my favourite characters, and my favourite antagonist, and some of the moments were really touching and captivating.

62639

Gameplay:
I actually am probably the only person who prefers II's gameplay to I. I liked being able to customize my characters how I wanted them, I liked the simpler battle system, and the sidequests in this game were much more involving and interesting. It had some downsides to it, but overall I thought it was really fun.

62640

World:
There's a few interesting locations but this game is pretty hit or miss for me. Some spots were great and I loved exploring them. Others were drab and boring and I was happy when it was time to move on. Overall I think the world was pretty decent and I really liked Second Miltia because it was so bright and lively and busy, something not all that common in the series. I also really liked the subconscious domain in both spring and winter.

62641

Characters:
The cast is pretty strong I think and pretty unique. They all bring something different to the table and I enjoy their interactions with each other. Unfortunately this game does give a lot of them the backseat for this story, focusing more on a select few.

Favourite character: MOMO 62642
Honourable mention: Jr. 62643

MOMO was my favourite in I and archer characters are my favourite to use in RPGs, so imagine how happy I was when they took my favourite character and made her an archer! From an objective standpoint it was weird for her to go from using a rod to a bow in a matter of hours, but from a personal standpoint I was like HECK YEAH ARCHER MOMO. She was just a very sweet girl and we get to learn a bit more about her... let's say family life in this game. I found Jr. to be one of the more interesting characters and some of his scenes in this game were just really great and helped me like him even more.

Overall this game is quite a change from the first, but it's still a good game, it's fun to play, and it gives some wonderfully told back story for some of the characters. But the changes can be pretty jarring for fans of the first game so it might not be for everybody.

62644

59. Final Fantasy Theatrhythm: Curtain Call (Nintendo 3DS)
62646

Still not sure what the story is other than use music from the series to defeat evil or something. Is that even still the story? I don't know, I play it for the music.

62647

This game is pretty similar to the other Theatrhythm, with a few changes. The EMS seem to have been removed entirely and there is a much larger music, game, and character selection now. There is also a quest medly mode where you move around the map from song to song, getting keys and treasures long the way before finally facing the boss(es). When a boss is defeated it will give crystal shards which unlock a selection of characters.

62648

This game was just as fun as the first one, except it improved it. Mostly. I do miss the event music stages even though I sucked at them. But the quest medley mode was a lot of fun, if not very difficult. There were many more characters and songs, which is obviously a good thing, and overall I found the game easier. Especially in terms of unlocking characters. It's just a good, fun game to play and it's good for relaxing and decompressing and enjoying some awesome music of the Final Fantasy series.

58. Pokemon Snap (Nintendo 64)
62652

Have you ever wanted to take pictures of Pokemon? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then this game is for you! This is about a Pokemon photographer who goes out and... takes pictures of Pokemon, which are then judged by Prof. Oak for reasons I wasn't paying attention to.

62653

In Pokemon Snap, you will go through several levels on rails and take pictures of Pokemon in the wild. You'll also get some gadgets as the game moves along to help you get more Pokemon or to get different reactions from Pokemon you've already seen. The gadgets include things like throwing an apple, or a stinkball, or a musical flute thing. After you finish the level you will report back to Professor Oak and be given allowed to sort through your photos and select one per Pokemon to be graded. You can revisit later and try to top your score. Certain levels will also have conditions on them for you to move on to the next level.

62654

This game was so much fun. Just going around taking pictures of Pokemon. I don't even know why it was so fun. It's very short but it's just so great to play, especially if you want something silly and lighthearted. I loved going back over the levels and trying to get new pictures and throwing apples at them and seeing what new things I could find. There were some good levels and a decent amount of Pokemon as well. The only sad things is I can no longer go play at Blockbuster and print out photos of my Pokemon.

Tekken is a fighting game so you basically fight other fighters with your selected character. Different buttons represent different limbs and you can do throws and stuff. I think there are 21 total playable characters. There's also the super awesome volleyball game that I sunk much time in to.

Tekken 3 was a big improvement on the last two installments. It just feels like the turning point. It introduced a lot of new characters who would become series staples, as well as one of my all time favourite characters, Xiaoyu. I very much liked Tekken 2, but 3 brought things to a whole new level. This is the game in the series that basically cemented Tekken as my all time favourite fighting game series and has made me excited for every game since. While there are some games I like more, this game is really a great moment for the series as a whole.

Ah the nostalgia. I used to play this game with my two older brothers so much. It was such good fun.

I like Ling Xiaoyu. Except as a fighter because a lot of her moves are vaguely defensive so I really struggle to use her well. xD

Question on Pokémon Snap:

Why the heck hasn't it been remade for the Wii U? It seems like a perfect game for use with the GamePad.

Still waiting for the Pokémon MMO. When it happens, I'll jump back into Pokéworld. It's probably the only potential MMO out there that could have a strong chance of knocking WoW off the number one spot.

I think there's a better chance of Pumpkin watching the Tekken movie than Nintendo learning how to use the internet.

I wish they'd do another pokemon snap for the 3DS using the camera, that'd be super cool

Pokémon Snap for the Wii U, with ALL the pokémon and tons of areas, would immediately sell 1 billion copies.
