PM me some nominations! For the sake of simplicity, throw in which Final Fantasy it's from, too. We have actually quite a lot of ground to cover, so I'm not going to limit nominations! Send me literally all the musics you like! 10 is a good number if you want/need a suggestion.

Anything less than 200 candidates is gonna be underwhelming, and also that's a lot of candidates so I'll hold a qualifying round between nominations and eliminations to weed out the jerks who just sent me entire OSTs. I have a plan, do not fear!

As a huge, huge FF music fan, I definitely need to get together a nomination list for you. But as a huge, huge FF music fan, I can't imagine it being less than 200 songs long.

EDIT: Do you have a plan to take care of the songs that appear in multiple titles? I mean, I hope we don't end up with two (or more) different Final Fantasy Theme songs in the later stages. Would be good to just figure out which is best early on, and then use that as the only one that goes into the knockout stage (assuming there is one).

Not that it seems like its going to happen, but my reasoning is that each iteration is its own entity for the sake of this competition. Ergo, if both nominated versions of Battle on the Big Bridge (which may happen) or the victory fanfare (yeah right!) get through, they'll take up a single entry each.

Are you still thinking you're going to cut it down to like... 16 entries? Because I hope this one drags out a little longer, I like the idea of cutting it to about 50-70 (can be multiple choice at this stage still) and then having to make a lot of hard decisions on the way to a final. :D

At this point I'm struggling to normalise the votes while maintaining the obvious outliers. Case in point: To Zanarkand in the first poll, which outperforms every other song in every other poll. Problem is, Poll 1 had 18 voters and most have only 12, so when I normalise the votes it does pretty poorly, which is a bad outcome.

I've got a week to work on it still, though. Maybe I'll have to extend the field a bit!

I suggest going by percentages instead of quantity of votes.

Then the polls which had a lower turnout (which I personally correlate with lower interest in that particular round's offerings) get higher representation! Bad outcome!

I don't think it's to do with them not having any interest in any of the songs, more to do with people being lazy and participating less as rounds go on. This is a normal thing with these sort of events. You could of course try an "and/or" thing, where either x many votes OR x percentage means they qualify.

I think I've solved my problem. I'm going to invert the votes - ie subtract how many votes each track has from the total voters. That should solve my issue - popular songs get lower scores (good) and it doesn't matter how many people voted.

"Liberi Fatali" is the second-best track in the series. Objectively. This bracket means nothing.
