I know a lot of us here loved him as Spock, but he was a truly wonderful person with a big heart and a lot of great ideas. He's really going to be missed.

No way! I never watched many episodes of the original series, but I've always liked his cameos on Futurama.

I wasn't a huge fan of Star Trek, but I do enjoy the series and have seen the movies and watched several episodes considering my dad was such a big fan of the series. It is still quite sad to see Leonard Nimoy pass away though since I knew he was a fantastic person on and off the screen. :(

Yeah, him being such a great person in real life is part of what makes this so hard.

Those of you who are friends with me on Facebook or follow me on Twitter have seen this, but this was his last tweet:

It's dated four days ago, so he must have know that it was almost over. Still, I think that's such a beautiful final message to leave behind to the world.

Jinx and I seem to be sharing social media woes. I'm glad my social media is also upset as that means he really did affect a lot of people.

I am really upset and sad. I don't get upset over celebs passing but this one has.

Man I'm almost bawling like a big fat baby over here, this news is awful. Not just Trek, but his cameos in shows like The Simpsons and Futurama, and voicework (Civilization IV especially) was also great, and everything points to him being a genuine, decent, moral man off the screen too.

He was Master Xehanort in kingdom hearts as well. :(

Another thing I shared on Facebook. This interview was so important to me at the time he did it, because I was a 16-year-old girl who was battling bulimia because I was bullied for years about my body. I never forgot about it, and it always makes me tear up, but now more than ever.

Very bummed. He lived a good life, though, and touched a lot of people. Can't ask for much more than that.

Dammit, still hurts.

We should all post our best attempts at "Spock Hands" (salute) in homage to the dear fellow. :(

My first introduction to him was as host to a show called In Search Of which was very similar to Unsolved Mysteries (which may also be too old for some people to remember, and also had a host die..)

I was never much of a fan of the original Star Trek series, but I loved the movies for some reason, and I did end up completely adoring TNG so I wholly respect the groundwork he laid both in television and sci-fi. And I too enjoyed a lot of his cameos and voice work

This is pretty terrible news. But like has been said, he lived quite a long and full life. So instead of regretting his passing (which I can't help but do), I shall simply try to be more thankful that we had him, and for such a long time. Rest in peace, Mr Nimoy. You did very well..

Fond memories of singing this whilst drunk with friends. Also, Leonard Nimoy did a better version of The Hobbit in 2 mins 20 seconds than Peter Jackson did in over ten hours.

I was never much of a Star Trek fan but the guy is a legend. Sleep well, man.

Utterly devastated, haven't felt this bad about a celebrity death since Robin Williams. My first thought was that it was a terrible way to start the weekend, but then again...Star Trek TOS best of Spock marathon? I think so too.

Rest in Peace.

Go watch the episode where Spock is horny. That T'Pring. What a tease!

I've been avoiding this thread because I don't know what to say. I have no words to express just how important Star Trek was to me growing up. It absolutely shaped me into the person I am today. I've known the crew of the Enterprise longer than I can remember.

Feels like I've lost a family member. Really all I can say.

Cried myself to sleep last night

It's sad to think people who impacted your childhood so much to die of old age. I guess god finally beamed him up. RIP Mr. Nimoy.

Rest in peace Mr. Spock and Master Xehanort. You have really succeeded in becoming one with the heart of many people to become immortal. Live forever and prosper within them and wherever you are now.
