You all know the game, and you know it well! And, since it seems Quinny was the last to post in the other thread nearly 9 months ago, I figured it was time to strike up a new one. There wasn't a riddle going on, so I guess it's open for me to make one!

the treasure, of the mythic kind.

a challenge; now from there to here.
You cannot win, though you fret;
every success becomes harder yet.

Climb the bell tower, pull the bell's rope to ring the bell (hear a ding) and you find his cards.
Talk to me, and you will hear
a challenge; now from there to here.
Later, you can talk to him again and challenge him to a race.
You cannot win, though you fret;
every success becomes harder yet.
The more you beat him in a race, the harder the races become.
