I think it has been clearly established that SE's teasers are only for games that nobody really asked for, otherwise they wouldn't need to crank up the hype machine. We'd do it for them.

(I'm actually playing the first Star Ocean now and it's pretty fun.)

The only game I've played in this series is The Last Hope, but I only played it for a few hours. Just couldn't get in to it. Might keep an eye on this new one though and see how it pans out.

I only ever played Star Ocean 3 for story, all the others I ended up playing for the sole purpose of that fantastic gameplay.

SO3 was one of the best games ever made.

That said, I'm a big SO4 apologist. I mean, maybe not that big, since I honestly don't remember anything about the game. Pretty weak story. BUT people think it sucked, and it didn't suck. It was fun.

This has actually increased my distrust for SE and their tease sites. They hype me up so much and crush me that now I think they are just playing with my emotions by actually releasing it.
