Did you Collect all the Tetra Master Cards?

FFIX was clearly the best game in the series, despite the result of EoFF ranks Final Fantasy which I totally rigged. As such it has the best card game in the series.

Did you manage to collect all 100 Tetra Master cards?

I find the PSOne saving process slow and tedious and then it's ten times worse when I have to save after winning every couple of cards so I don't have to play extra hands to win my cards back if I lose. Same in FFVIII. I was not disappointed to see the card games disappear after FFIX.

Tetra Master is annoying where Triple Triad required skill and knowledge.

The power numbers that appear when a battle is initiated between two cards fluctuate wildly, and there is no way to learn what will happen when a card is placed short of hacking into the game's code and looking at the algorithms yourself, provided you have the knowledge to do so or understand, even understand what you're looking at.

Tetra Master reeks of an ill-conceived marketing decision based on the popularity among test groups (for FF8) of Triple Triad.

I hate it when production companies base their decisions on test data, but it often happens, and I can't imagine everyone being happy with the decision to include Tetra Master in FF9.

It seems like a dodgy compromise of some sort, kind of a "oh, you liked FF8? Remember the cards? I'm sorry this game is so different! Play cards, it's like FF8 see?"

FF8 and 9 are far from perfect, it's true, but after FF7, they had a nightmare of an act to follow. That's like somebody playing Crazy Train and then breaking into the Carpenters before finishing the evening with Stravinsky.

I got them all, but I never managed to fully max out my rank. That just takes way too much luck and grinding. And there is basically 0 reward for doing so, anyways. Just 1 special line of dialogue with Alleyway Jack.

Doing a playthrough without collecting all the cards is simply not acceptable.

I maxed out my rank once but I'm not doing that again.
