View Full Version : Did you get Knights of the Round?

The needlessly long summon that does tonnes of damage from FFVII. You know the one.

04-27-2015, 05:38 PM
Yes. And I exploited the glitch to get the golden chocobo to get it. :D

04-27-2015, 06:58 PM
Yes I got it, and I bred a Gold Chocobo fair and square

(says this as he holds R1+R2 to recover chocobo's stamina)

But either way you slice it, Ultimate End is just the mother of all summons.

Interestingly, they hacked the chocobo racing so that if you finish first, the other racers speed up, and you don't have to wait as long for them to finish...if this was possible in the original I don't remember.

But they didn't change the speed at which the KOTR summon animation plays...

I guess it just seems a lot more ULTIMATE when it takes 4 hours.

Off course!

04-27-2015, 08:35 PM
I only had two Sense.

04-27-2015, 08:46 PM
Well of course, yes.

04-27-2015, 09:38 PM
I did get it on my last playthrough. It was the only playthrough where I beat all the weapons and got the Gold Chocobo. Lots of hard work, that was.

04-27-2015, 09:40 PM
Never got it and never cared to get it.

04-27-2015, 09:42 PM

04-28-2015, 03:26 AM
Yes. Also, if you know what you are doing it really doesn't take up much time at all. W-Item glitch, yo.

04-28-2015, 06:42 AM
Yea but I cheated with the w-item glitch.

04-28-2015, 09:31 AM
Yes, I did. I only generally use it on a few occasions though as it takes the challenge out of the game a little. I use it against Sephiroth's first form as it's a pain in the arse otherwise. If I'm lazy then I'll use it against Proud Clod as well but that's it.

Obviously I'll use it against the Weapons as well because they're pricks.

04-28-2015, 04:33 PM
Ludicrously long summon is ludicrous. I exploited this and so many other things with the mastered Mime materia.

04-28-2015, 07:22 PM
I used to, but don't usually bother any more. Takes too much time, and nowadays I generally limit myself from using all the strongest moves in order to keep the game interesting on my ##'th playthrough.

04-28-2015, 07:26 PM
What's timewasting about it? Getting a gold chocobo is easy. You're not scrubs, are you?

Ha, I cast it three times every Sephiroth battle. W-summon/mime, beaches!

I just read a book until it finishes. :P

04-29-2015, 12:40 PM
I never got it and I never planned to get it.

04-29-2015, 06:45 PM
I had 8 of them :P

06-04-2015, 03:12 PM
I got it last play through, Still got another few steam achievements before its at 100% :P

I dislike the wording of the options. I was in high-school when I played FF7. Getting Knights Of The Round was a better use of my time than pretty much all of the alternatives at that age!

06-12-2015, 03:11 AM
I did it the long way once with all the racing and training chocobos...generally I do it in a condensed way where I get the required chocobos and play roulette with soft resets until I get the desired bird.

06-13-2015, 04:19 AM
Yes, but only with cheat codes. Though I did get it with a gold chocobo at least once (but I got said chocobo via cheat codes, as you get the Desert Rose via codes as well). I've never gotten it legit.

I remember the first time I got it - I used it in pretty much every battle, long before it was even needed because I sucked so bad at FFVII back then.

06-16-2015, 01:38 AM
Yes. In fact, not only did I get it; I mastered it eight times. That is, legit, without a cheating device.

I was so insane and gullible as a teenager that I found some FFVII fansite with an elaborate "Revive Aeris" rumor when I was 13 and using the internet for the first time, and my 13 year old brain said "I SAW IT ON THE INTERNET, IT MUST BE TRUE!". One of the requirements of the rumor was to master KotR eight times then equip them all on Cloud's Ultima Weapon.

When I got to the point where you're supposed to fight the "Holy WEAPON" well, needless to say I was disappointed.

06-16-2015, 01:56 PM
I did. I couldn't not!

06-17-2015, 01:49 AM
I do it every time. I spend far too much time on the game when I play it. Level 50 by the end of disc 1 XD

06-18-2015, 09:16 AM
No, I never did.

In fact I only watched the summon sequence for it on YouTube about 3 weeks ago.

Wait. I assumed that this was the only way to do this. Are there actually people who accept the birth of crap birds and just move on in the game? Are there people who exploit the W-Item glitch to obtain multiple Carob seeds just so that they can breed multiple birds until they get the one they need without having to reset? Sounds like a huge f-ing waste of time considering you have to wait for the "parents" to "recover".
I usually initially capture four chocobos. Getting the recommended birds and raising their rank to S makes it nearly impossible to get an ordinary bird, but the second bird may not be what you want when compared to the first. If the first is a male River, then the second may end up being male (you can't make a baby chocobo with gay sex), or it may be another River chocobo (which is just pointless... much like this post).

It's a lot easier to get Knights of the Round than it is to defeat Emerald and Ruby Weapon, I imagine it isn't that uncommon to get them. I've done all three of course.

06-22-2015, 08:38 AM
I suppose it all comes down to how much you enjoy chocobo racing. If you like doing that, some might see the Gold chocobo as just another part of that.

07-04-2015, 05:34 AM
Yes I did. The long way too. I also defeated both Ruby and Emerald weapon. Go team!

07-04-2015, 06:25 AM
Every time. Can't help myself.

07-04-2015, 01:25 PM
Yes. I'm currently trying to max out the APs on it.

08-14-2015, 07:31 PM
Yes. I have more free time than sense.

08-16-2015, 05:12 AM
YES, every playthru. There are people who voted NO?!?!?!?!

You guys are crazy. I'd rather sit thru the summon animation and do a smurftonne of damage.

08-16-2015, 05:21 AM
I've always found it funny that every strategy I've seen throughout the years for killing the Ruby WEAPON required casting KotR, but the prize for killing Ruby WEAPON is...a gold chocobo.
