On labour day my net usage skyrockets.

I havent pirated a new game in a while since it's easier to keep up with updates when I get them on steam.

I dont have a problem with downloading games from the ps1 era and previous.

Ever since steam has had a larger library, I don't. Only time I do is if it's an oldschool rom. if it's not on Steam it's on GOG. When I have somewhere to find things, I will buy it. More industries need to realize this.

No not really. I have but if I like a game I'd prefer to have the real thing with updates and stuff.

If it's available on Steam? No.

If it isn't?

I don't pirate games I can easily get legally. Usually.

No, but I'm awfully tempted by every Ubisoft game, since their DRM makes things so stupid and challenging.

honestly, the only reason i dont do it is because i cant play games on my laptop anyway.

No. Unless you count the emulation and ROMs of 20+ year old games.

I've pirated plenty of things in my student days, but I've got cash now, so usually I just buy stuff.

Except for bullshit DLC, or 2 year old ports at 60 euros. Greedy fuckers can lick the tail end of my pirate ship then.

Piracy seems to be more about finances and availability these days rather than entitlement and greed

That was usually how it worked for me as well. I generally only pirated to taste test a game that didn't have a demo. And if I liked it, I would usually buy it. Eventually. I had Skyrim for like a year before buying it. But then I bought the Legendary edition to make up for it

But yeah. I don't really make a budget for games the way some people do, but I live comfortably enough to be able to afford a few games here and there. So I don't see a lot of reason to pirate these days. So like most people, the only pirated things I play are generally just the ROMs I have on my Wii with old console emulators. And that's just so I have everything in one place. I also have all that stuff on my PSP for good old times on the road or whatever. But I own most of the games I play the most on those anyway so whatever

No.

I've pirated games I own, so I can play them on my PC if that counts. Games like FFVII, VIII and IX, few other games, but only if I own it.

Nice try, Officer Shion, but I'm not going to fall for this one.

I use to do it for some games, but I never ended up playing those games anyway. I've always been more of a console gamer than a PC gamer, so there wasn't a whole lot of incentive.

Not often. I used to, but these days things are so convenient that I very rarely feel any need to. These days I rarely pirate things, pretty much only doing so if I'm genuinely unsure if I'll like it (or in the case of yearly iterative games, to see whether the updates are enough to justify it) - in which case I'll either delete or purchase once I find out, which doesn't take long.

Used to, but not anymore. We have steam sales now.

Only rarely. When I didn't have a reasonably good income, I did it a lot. Nowadays, I buy way more games than I have time to play, so pirating things just seems like a waste cause i'm unlikely to be putting a lot of hours into it anyway.

I never pirate console games.

Oh yeah, where is the "Hell yeah Im a filthy Pirate of games!" option in that poll??.

Not usually. Old games that I can emulate, then yeah, sure, them games are hard to find now.

The only other exception are those blasted Sims 3 Expansion and Stuff packs. I'll gladly purchase the game itself, but I'm not willing to fork over x amount of money just so I can have the rain and snow in my game!

Pirating expansions and DLC I see as less of an offense, but I'm not the law, so eh

The only thing I can think of that I pirated and that I've used a fair bit and not ended up purchasing was the Mothership Zeta DLC for Fallout 3. I had already purchased the game and 2 other DLCs and it was direct dl only. If they sold it in store I would have got it at the time.

The law says you pay 100.000 dollars per infraction/DLC and up to 2 years in prison. So let's disregard the law, because it became silly.

No, games going digital made things so much easier and cheaper.

Mostly old school Japan only titles or old PC games that have dropped off the face of the earth. I've also got some of games I actually own but like checking out fan translations, but again, it's usually old school titles from back in the day when localization was the last thing developers thought about.

I was just saying, with regards to anyone looking down their noses at pirates of games, they can probably look down their noses a little less when it's not the base game. It's just a moral stance. I wasn't suggesting ignoring a stop sign on a country road because nobody is coming. If it were literally up to the law, you can get the same charge for printing up a cover for a friend who lost the case to one of their games, and if they give you a dollar for your trouble you just sold copyrighted material *Massive ooo'ing and aaahh'ing*

I live in one of the world's biggest gaming ghettos. I don't pirate games. I... make do with what I have.

I used to pirate games, but it's been a long time since a good pirate game has come out. Well, a lot of people have said that Assassin's Creed IV was a good pirate game, but III killed the series so thoroughly that I still have no intention of playing IV.

So I haven't pirated games since Sid Meier's Pirates, which was ages ago, and in my opinion, the genre is pretty much dead to me.

Wait, that's not what you guys meant..?

It really shouldn't be illegal to acquire things that aren't even available in your country. According to your government's boundaries, that product doesn't even exist :3
