What's this all about?

Each participant of the tournament receives six Pokemon eggs (bred by the ever-devoted Skyblade). Once all the eggs hatch, we will spend a pre-determined amount of time raising the critters so that we can later battle with each other using only those six.

How do I sign up?

So first, you need a 3DS with a compy of either Pokemon X/Y or Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire. Then, either in the thread or through mognet, give us your friendcode and Pokemon trainer name (also, optionally, you can tell us whether you're up for voice chat communication during trading and battling). Signups close on June 20th, Saturday.

Wait, why so soon?

Because so far, we have about 110 eggs (that's enough for about 18 people), and we need the additional time in case we get more contestants.

Okay, so what then?

Then, once we're certain we have enough eggs for all the contestants, the distribution begins! I will be distributing eggs starting June 20th, Saturday - that is exactly in two weeks. I will also then start a new thread devoted to the "raising" stage of the tournament. Once everyone has their eggs, we'll start hatching them and share who got which Pokemon. We can also share our training progress and share tips. Skyblade will also serve as our resident Pokemon professor, providing advanced tips for proper Pokemon training, including advanced tips such as those regarding move tutors! UPDATE: The signup period has been extended to June 20th.

So what else are we gonna do with this thread?

Those thread will be devoted to both sign-ups and determining some of the details of the tournament. We'll need to decide some things about the battling stage so that we know how much time we want to devote for the raising stage. Do we want to allow everyone to reach level 50? Or are we using the rules that will allow all the Pokemon to be level 50 in battle, so that we can move on to the battling stage quicker? You decide!

So what's in it for me?

All contestants get to keep the Pokemon they catch. Additionally, the winner will receive a super fabulous reward Pokemon from Skyblade!

Note to All Battlers: You will need 6 Pokémon to trade away for the Eggs. Go catch some junk Pokémon to trade away.

For those who don't know, the first route with catchable Pokémon (Route 2 in Kalos and Route 101 in Hoenn) have 100% catch rates in Generation 6. So just buy 6 Pokéballs, and throw them at the first six Pokémon you see there.

Don't be nervous, Pumpkin. These matches are more silly than serious. Your team is random. Some teams will just have pretty weak Pokémon. Others will have no synergy between the team members. You may get incredibly unlucky and get all Bug Pokémon. Or you may get a ton of really powerful beastly Pokémon.

The random distribution is going to play such a huge factor, that you should be able to relax and just have fun with it. Don't worry about winning or losing. Just enjoy.

2. Let's discuss the raising period in general! How long do you think is enough for us to raise our Pokemon properly? Do we want to have enough time to reach level 50 with everyone? Is a week, two weeks, three weeks enough?

Also, everyone - remember to catch six junk Pokemon by Saturday. Like Skyblade said - you can do that at the first route with tall grass no problem since it has a 100% catch rate.

I don't know where everyone is in the game at the moment, but I know it takes about two~three hours for me to EV train and level a Pokemon to 70 in Y, so I'd say about a week should be fine. :)

Go to Restaurant Le Wow. Turn on Exp. Power 3, enter one of the battles.

Since you go straight from battle to battle and never get a chance to pause, the Exp. Power has no chance to turn off until you complete all five battles. Since they all carry Pokémon around level 65, you get huge Experience from these fights when they're all under Exp. Power 3.

Then you just reap the rewards.

If you have Prize Money Power 3 on and a Pokémon with the Amulet Coin, it will actually more than pay for itself without even needing to sell the Balm Mushrooms you get, so you can ignore the Turn Goals, if you want.

...Which is why I now have 999 Balm Mushrooms.

O Powers in XY are obtained from Mr. Bonding. He's usually located in the hotels you pass on your journey. Exp. Point Power is obtained from the Anistar City Hotel. Prize Money Power is obtained in the Cyllage City Hotel. In ORAS, you get them all from the Pokémon Center in Mauville City if you talk to the NPCs inside after major story milestones.

O Powers are used from the PSS. They take a self-renewing resource called "Energy" to use. Energy replenishes naturally over time, and the rate at which it replenishes increases based on the step count of your 3DS system. So walking around with your system makes it replenish much faster. Before you take any steps, Energy replenishes at a rate of 1 Node every four minutes, I think? While if you've walked around at least 4000 steps that day, it's 1 Node every minute, which is much better.

To level up O Powers, you need to use them a lot. 15 uses gets you to level 2, and 30 gets you to level 3. It's cheaper to use lower levels, but not as Energy efficient, and not as strong. It's also cheaper to use them on other people than to use them on yourself.

as for the training: i will not get it done within a week. i dont know all the tricks and i dont have that much time for it.

I thought I'd have time for it but it doesn't look like it. Finals are this week, and I need to grade them by next friday, on top of reading 7 internship reports, 4 project reports, attending 10 internship presentations and 8 project presentations, preparing report card templates, preparing files for the end of year commission and jury (but wait! there's more : I also have an archery tournament the weekend after so I need to get some practice in, my sister's birthday tomorrow evening and a dinner with friends sunday).
