What is the largest amount of money you found that you pocketed? If it was some huge sum, did you turn it in or did you buy a bunch of DVDs or something?

Myself? Not a very exciting story, but one I feel bad about. My old apartment building has businesses on the first floor, and an insurance office on the second floor. All other units are for living in. Anyway, I found a $20 near the bottom of the stairwell years back. I thought about seeing if it was from the insurance office (though it could have come from ANYWHERE), but I ultimately took it because this was back when I wasn't making a good paycheck. I still feel pretty bad about it, though.

I found £20 in a cash machine inside a local newsagent years ago. I handed it in as I thought it pretty likely someone would come back for it. The shop owner may have just pocketed it but I like to think most people wouldn't.

If I found money in the street though and there was no-one around... that's definitely going into my pocket.

I found eighty bucks outside my high school once. I started spending it almost immediately. No remorse.

My first job was at a movie theater and you would usually find a dollar or two while cleaning after a show. The most I ever found at once was a $20 bill. I took the shit out of it. That was like 3 hours of work right there.

I think the most I found was around 20 dollars. It's the one I remember anyway. It was in the middle of a parking lot, and there was no way to really tell who it may have belonged to. The wind was already blowing it along, so who knows where it was dropped? I just counted myself lucky.

Money on the ground without other persons nearby is free game. I've found anything between $1-$20 and kept it all.

When I was in my early teens I saw a money clip fall and hit the floor in a store. I gave it back to the guy who dropped it and he said thanks and gave me $100 from the clip. There had to be thousands in that clip.

$50 blew at and hit my feet in an empty parking lot. I held onto it and looked around to see if anyone reported it lost for a few days, but no one did so I pocketed it after a bit.

If I find like $5, I'll scan around and ask someone if it's theirs. One time I found a wallet with what appeared to be over $100 (I didn't count) but luckily I was able to find the person and give it back. They were quite distraught. It didn't have an ID or anything it seemed mostly for cash and debit cards.

A few years ago I found $180 in a Safeway parking lot. My first thought was to go inside and report it at the front counter, but a friend who was with me convinced me to keep it and hit a nearby Gamestop. I tried to reconcile my guilt with fantasies of drug dealers dropping this fat wad of cash, but I still feel awful about it. :shobon:

I found a hundred bucks on the floor of a department store I worked in. We locked it in the cash room for like three on the and since no one ever came looking I got to keep it.

When I lived in Phoenix, a bunch of us had gone to South Mountain to hang out for a bit and get stoned... On the way down, we saw a purse sitting on a bench on the side of the road. We went back and took it and it had like $100 in it.

Paid for our night of partying. :D
