Which decade do you prefer for your musical tastes? Do you like to rock around the clock like it's the '50s? Or are you a dancing fool who digs those '70s grooves?

The 1980s.

I flipflop on this. I love 80's gothwave and 90's punk, but the early and mid 2000's are where all of my jams are. My music taste was directly cultivated by The White Stripes, The Strokes, My Chemical Romance, Placebo, She Wants Revenge and Panic! at the Disco on MTV midnight vids.

Every decade has at least a few genres where real music is happening. So every decade has something to offer.

The decade with the most current influence is probably still the '60s. Large out door music festivals getting popular, political and social activism, a more globalized sound, etc.

The 1980s because new wave and the Second British Invasion.

The 1970s is a (distant) second because disco and funk.

I find this thread offensive and decadist. I dont judge a song by the year of their publishing date, but by the content of their composition

For me, it's close betwixt the 70s, 80s & 90s. I guess the 60s just fall short of my top 3. But the 70s win, because Rock was @ it's best then.

I wouldn't know what decade a lot of song came out in, but I'll vote for the 1990's because the 90's were awesome.

Based on what most of my favorite bands are I would probably say the 90s, but not by a huge margin. I also really dig the 70s and 80s, as well as tons of music from this decade and the last!

This decade is the best for music, because we have access to all the music that came before.

Plus, we get new stuff! And some of it's good!

90's and 00's.

Spice Girls and Destiny's Child/Beyonce are everything.

Also, come on, the 90's gave us this.

The 90s for me. Although I really like music from every decade listed, I just like the overall sound of 90s music best.

I like 90s music if we're talking about cheesy dance synthpop like Venga Bus and Blue da ba de da ba di but I didn't like most of the other stuff :shobon: the 90s did have probably the best video game music though.

I would say the 90's had the most influence on me in terms of music with all the great Indie rock music that came out so I voted for that.

My 90's vote is not for the generic pop crap (barring a few exceptions) that came out in this decade.

I reckon the biggest change and level of quality would be the 60's though.

But I also love 90s alt rock.

Too hard to answer. Every decade there has had some kind of influence on me musically (except the 80's of course, the 80's was trash). The music I'm most into lately has been released in the last 15 years, but I wouldn't be into it if it wasn't for bands like Soundgarden, Tool and Smashing Pumpkins in the 90s. Similarly, I wouldn't be into those bands of it wasn't for Led Zepellin, Black Sabbath, Rush and Deep Purple from 60s and 70s.

The 80s had two good albums; Appetite for Destruction and Whitesnake's self titled album, it also had prominent use of the keytar which is simply hilarious.

The 80s were the absolute worst.

While I'm most likely going to listen to something from the 2000s at any given time, I decided to throw my vote for the 1970s in honor of when music took the quantum leap to becoming great. Genesis, Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, Van der Graaf Generator, Rush, Mahavishnu Orchestra, and many many others really changed everything.

Some amazing jazz in the 60s though.

The 80's also saw the best of Bruce Springsteen, U2, & Michael Jackson to name a few!

The 90's for me. The best house music there ever was was released in this decade. It also saw Nirvana & 2Pac which are artists I love.

Depends on the genre. Each genre has gotten progressively worse or progressively amazing. For example, rap was better in the 90s than it is presently IMO. R&B was also better. It's pretty non-existent now.
