Hey all,

do any of you sims fans download and install custom content? I'd like to have a go but no idea what sites are reliable and not crap! I have the sims 3 and I'm interested in downloading clothes, hairstyles, furniture mostly. Is it a pain in the arse to do or can a simpleton like me manage it?

Oh, I mod my Sims game to death, and I'm a simpleton so it is quite simple once you know how!

Mod The Sims (http://modthesims.info/) is a very good place to start off with, offering clothing, sims, objects and even whole worlds. If you're looking for a large-scale modification, the NRaas (http://nraas.wikispaces.com/NRaas+Industries+Home+Continued#The%20Mods) suite is very effective and I use it myself. The Sims 3 Resource (http://www.thesimsresource.com/) is a massive site that does near about everything, but especially clothes and hair. It is a good website but a few items you have to pay for; just bear that in mind. And don't forget the Sims 3 Exchange (http://gb.thesims3.com/exchange) itself; you can get some lovely buildings and other fun stuff from there.

Those are probably the four most prominent websites I can think of, off the top of my head. But there are plenty of people hosting their own blogs with their own creations.

I would just say be very careful and don't overdo it. The more CC you have, the longer your load times and the more likely you are to experience a glitch. So, slow and steady!

This is true. Only download items that you think you must have. Be careful with mods as well, as they can conflict each other (though they usually warn you if they can).
