This was many years ago now but back then I posted a ton of threads on here debating which fictional character could beat which. I did a Colonel Volgin vs. Tifa thread. That was weird.

People gave me a lot of crap for this too. Yet I am still a huge fan of versus debates. I love debating what two characters from different series can pose a good fight for one another. It's just something cool to discuss and think about.

How about you all? Do you seriously debate stuff like this?

Sure, why not? It can be fun!

Gunner Yuna vs Sazh. [EDIT: in a GUN battle] Discuss. :spin:

I've never played FFX2 but Yuna in general would clean the clicks off him on her Summons alone. She could just keep calling the next then the next, then move into magic. Give it to Yuna!

Clarification: the battle is a GUN battle.

Also, there are no summons in X-2.

Yuna would be distracted by a frocobo and get shot in the face.

Magic Pot (FFVII) vs Magic Pot (FFX), in a neverending turgid nominal-damage-fight to the death.

FFX Magic Pot, obvs. :spin:

In Sazh vs Yuna, I'm leaning towards Yuna. Sazh's attack speed was pretty slow, whereas Yuna could shoot at quite a rate using Trigger Happy.

She has a power level of 20,000.

Accuracy>Pulling the trigger really fast unless you're fighting multiple opponents who happen to be clumped together.

Actually, Gunner Yuna has 100% accuracy (more or less). Under NORMAL circumstances, she can't miss. Neither can Sazh, if I remember rightly.

Therefore, speed becomes the primary deciding factor.

I stand by my belief that the distraction frocobo will be the real decider.

I don't mind these kind of debates but they get weird pretty fast depending on the people involved and bias becomes a real problem. I remember getting into a bizarre Luffy vs. Son Goku battle which while I feel the answer would win is pretty obvious, the justifications one person gave were pretty ridiculous considering how silly the topic is.

I also dislike video game ones cause you always get some asshole who tries to put gameplay stats into play and often I find that games tend to do the rule of "what happens in battles, stays in battles" and you can't accurately use that as judgement for this decision.

Sahz would also win because of Frocobo and Sahz would probably ask Yuna not to shoot, which she would comply because she's a doormat who can't say no to people, and Sahz seems like the type who would take advantage of that to pistol whip her into submission.

Okay, consensus seems to be that Sazh would win.

Kimhari vs Fran. Discuss.

If this is just going to be FF character vs FF Character, then it should be either in Wonder Square or General Final Fantasy. I get the feeling that this wasn't the original intention of Forsaken Lover for this thread, but whatevs.

So yeah, if you can clarify what exactly this thread is, I'll move it to the right place.

I was just doing FF ones to get people started.

The possibilities are endless, really. Death Star vs X is a very popular one.

Alf vs. E.T.

I say the Melmacian takes it.

Dumbledore vs Gandalf

Honestly no clue, but I'd probably bet on Gandalf if I had to.

It just goes dumb when characters from universes with different laws of physics come together. Which universe's physical laws do you go with? Whichever comes from that universe wins, because the other doesn't get any powers.

That's easily resolved: they can both use all of their powers. Done. :p

Now, back to the match-ups!

Alf vs ET: Alf.
ET is just too naive to win. Alf could fight dirty if he had to.

Dumbledore vs Gandalf: Gandalf
Gandalf can come back from the dead, and he single-handedly defeated a towering ancient demon of darkness and fire. Beat that, Dumbledore.

Kimhari vs Fran: Depends
In hand-to-hand, Fran wouldn't stand a chance. But, Kimhari has no aptitude for ranged combat, whereas Fran can potentially use bows, crossbows and guns. I really should have specified more clearly in the first place. Oh well. :spin:

Kimhari can use Ultima and doublecast. That's pretty ranged.

But if Kimhari can use ultima and doublecast, why can't fran? In the end, whoever attacks first wins.

Excellent point! But, my thinking was that their magic would sort of cancel each other out, seeing as they can both potentially use a wide range of spells.

Other than magic, Kimhari has no ranged abilities.

Why would the magic cancel each other out? Reflect doesn't stop ultima.

Mr. Carnelian

Well, I suppose Kimhari would win, then. :)

Karifean

I see Kimahri as sort of Fran's natural enemy, since Fran would want to keep her distance using her best weapons, but Kimahri can jump to clear distances like it's nothing and force her into CQC. Kimahri wins.

Mirage
07-23-2015, 01:51 AM
Jump is a limit break, not a normal attack. Its use would be limited.

Not to mention, fran can use *any* weapon.

I just meant for this thread to be a place to say whether or not you actually enjoyed these kinds of discussions, not to actually engage in these kinds of discussions. I think that makes sense.

Not that I really care what this has become.

Well, I suppose it proves that people DO engage in these kinds of discussions. Seeing as that's what we're doing. :p
