BRACKET ROUND

The time has finally come! You have battled bravely over the past month, and now your efforts will be put to the true test! Who will emerge victorious? That can only be decided through combat! Is your bond with your Pokemon strong enough to withstand this trial? Show us your devotion!

The rules are as follows:

There are three brackets - gold, silver and bronze.
Contestants are assigned to the groups based on their points gained in the preliminary round.
Since the number of contestants is odd, here's how all the brackets will look:

Therefore, we'll begin with a single battle for each bracket.
The time limit for each battle is 3 days. I will notify all the contestants once their battle window begins. If any of the contestants are absent from the forum at the time and could not receive the information, or should they be unable to battle then and will request the match to be postponed, the deadline will be extended.
Likewise, if the scheduled battles finish earlier, the round will be ended earlier and the next battles will be scheduled.
If a contestant doesn't show in the period and makes no notice about their participation, that will be considered a dropout.
The order within a bracket has been determined through a dice roll, with the person with the highest amount of points getting the first roll.

Yes, it is. But GameFreak hates patching/updating games (including making DLC), so they refuse to update XY. And rather than bother to check if XY could play the match's replay (which, if an XY game took part, it could), it just blocks any match with an ORAS game.

So here's something. I've been playing random online battles with my team and it's held up pretty well. Especially considering I frequently go up against legendaries and mega evolutions and the like.

Well you've got a good team. They're all pretty solid Pokemon overall, and you've got some excellent diversity, both in terms of Typing and in terms of stat distribution.

So...what's going to happen in the Gold bracket? I don't think Sky has any intention of facing Ultima.

I think the bracket part of the tournament really fell apart. There were too few matches spread across too much time. If we do something like this in the future, we'll probably need to schedule a date and time to hold the finale tournament to make sure it gets completed in a timely manner, and people maintain interest.

The drawing out of the first phase led to people losing interest in the second phase, which was also drawn out. I think the multiple brackets also added to this. A single bracket with a strict time limit for matches would be better.

I still intend to have a 'final' match with Shae when ever she is back from vacation. Ultima and Sky should play too, and the winner of our two matches should battle for ultimate supremacy.

To be perfectly honest, the fun of this tournament was ruined for me months ago, when it became clear that the most likely victor had never heard the term "sportsmanship". I've only been tuning back in with hopes that someone would beat Ultima, and now that there is no chance of that, I have given up on the tournament completely.

I have no desire to face someone who is a sore loser (at least I'm trying to correct that flaw of my own, instead of delighting in it), a spiteful winner, and one of the least pleasant competitors I've ever encountered.

I already turned the Giratina over to Fynn, simply because if Ultima won, I would rather release the damn thing and claim a trade error than let him have it. His behavior has been utterly appalling to me, and he has turned this fun tournament into the worst competitive experience I've ever had.

Good battle. It was closer than implied with a lot of intense switch ins. As I sized you up I noticed that I had a good type coverage over your team with all the big dinosaurs on it so it would have been tough for you no matter what. Honestly I think I got the most diverse team of the bunch which is just the luck of the dice.

Yeah a couple of your moves with Togekiss and Espeon were questionable with some 'does not effect' attacks. They were the two I was most afraid of because they have access to some crippling moves. If you have the TM for Dazzling Gleam, it's definitely a better move than Fairy Wind and actually a great move for coverage on Espeon. Honestly I spent most of my time trying to figure out which pokemon to soak up the Dazzling Gleam hits but it never came. :p

Future Sight is so annoying. I always forget it's coming, and Aegislash took one to the face in sword form which was dumb of me. Then he got crit out of the battle and I got a little nervous. Just a little.

This was a very fun tournament and I was super happy with my performance win or lose against Ultima. I made some tweaks since our last meeting and I'm fairly certain that if I ran the same set against him again I would lose because he would be more prepared.

For those of you curious, here's the set I ran:

Flygon made a great scouter with U-Turn and was usually my lead. Rock Slide was also great coverage for flying types.

The goal is to set up with Nasty Plot and then sweep, but he was too fragile and I used Close Combat more often than not. Doing it again I would focus on all out attack.

Empoleon soaked up specials with his great type and stats and the ice/water move combo has good coverage. Toxic was for those bulky types and Roar was for anyone who tried to set up.

Had a hard time pinning Ampharos down since he's so slow but he did come in handy in the last battle. Thunder Wave is always annoying. Agility to make up for that speed (thanks Skyblade).

Aegislash is a godly pokemon and I don't think I even ran his best set, but he's a sword so Swords Dance just made sense. Straightforward dance then whack them with Iron Head with a priority Shadow Sneak to finish.

This guy was my wild card. I hated him at first but then gave him some sneaky status moves in Taunt and Hypnosis and he became really annoying. His ability makes Superpower actually build his stats which is crazy.
