I love Al Bundy, but Homer Simpson is probably the best television character ever. Obviously he has a lot of those classic TV dads in him, but I think he perfected that persona.

Al Bundy and Red Forman are my favourites, but I like Al more than Red, that's why I chose him in this poll. :P

Up until season 8 or so, I would say Homer Simpson. He was a clumsy, neglectful, alcoholic moron, but he actually tried to be a better father when he'd screw up. Eventually the show forgot that he actually tried to be a decent father some of the time though and he really just stopped being admirable in any way.

Vegeta is totally the best dad ever.
How is Bob Belcher not on the poll.

Frank Costanza is good, but Dr. Katz can't be beaten.

Better than Goku. At least Vegeta was there and not on other planets or dead for most of his children's lives.

Frank Reynolds from It's Always Sunny needs to be in this conversation as well.

DANNY TANNER!! You have to go with Bob Saggot, It was true acting for him to be that guy.

I went with Red Forman.
Dan Connor and Tim Taylor are also near and dear to my heart. Dan maybe more so, but I get mad at the last episode of Roseanne so I picked Red.

Nigel Thornberry. By far the best character on children's TV when I was growing up.
