So I've recently been rewatching the Disney movies for my MA thesis, and oh God. am I in love with Beauty and the Beast all over again! That is literally the most perfect Disney movie EVER!

So what are your favorites? No poll, since there's too many, and I don't want to exclude anyone's favorites.

My Top 10 is like

The Little Mermaid ( I swimming as exercise and the underwater universe is just so beautiful, I love the animation, the songs, the characters, just everything )
Aladdin ( to be honest this was my original big favorite, I'm just tired of it right now because I've watched the movie too many times, again I love the songs and the characters. )
Mulan ( who doesn't love a strong female main lead who saves her country ? )
Beauty and the Beast ( So well written and just perfect main heroine and main villian, Gaston is the best Disney Villian imo, because he's so smurfing real, scary real. )
Lady and the Tramp ( I love cute doggies, who doesn't love cute doggies ? )
Big Hero 6 ( helps me with depression. Baymax is love, Baymax is life )
The Lion King ( cute movie with lions and has some pretty deep and adult messages about life, sends a good message across about moving on from a painful past )
Lilo and Stitch ( Sister movie done right * coughs * )
Snow White ( The animation is just so good for it's time, you can tell that Walt and his team put every sweat and tear into this movie. Grumpy, I love Grumpy. When he starts crying when he believes that Snow is dead ? Holy crumbcakes. )

Either Bolt or The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Strangely these are both movies I saw in later life so it's not nostalgia tinted glasses.

Bolt had a story that resonated well with me, I went into it not knowing what to expect and was ready to turn it off at the 10 minute mark then it threw me a great curveball and from then it was just ridiculously cute. I wouldve thought a movie with John Travolta and Miley Cyrus would be a musical but a great ending credit song makes up for that.
THoND had great music and animation and more complex themes than a normal disney movie.

Before I saw those two it was probably Mulan (which I saw some time in teens years)

Before I saw that it was probably The Lion King

But according to my family I really liked watching Dumbo when I was a kid.

Mulan, although The Lion King and Hercules get special mentions. Belle is my favorite princess though (as I identify most with her) but I love Mulan. One summer I literally spent the entire summer watching that film. I'd watch it, then rewind it, then watch it again. I knew every word by heart.

You know what other movie I really like that gets a ton of trout? The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. And The Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas is a Christmas must-watch for me.

Wow, I like every one I've seen. My favorite might be Alice in Wonderland. I also like Aladdin, Pinnocchio, & Lilo & Stitch. If we're including Pixar, then I'd have to add Up & the Toy Story Trilogy.

Out of every movie Disney has made, I'll have to go w/ Captain America: Winter Soldier. :D

If I had to pick a top five, we're looking at The Beauty and the Best, The Jungle Book, Aladdin, The Emperor's New Groove, and uhhh... The first Pirates of the Carribean film. Does that count?

Probably The Lion King. Pocahontas is a pretty close second.

I like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Mulan pretty equally as third.

The Lion King will always be my number one Disney movie. <3

Also love The Fox and the Hound, Finding Nemo, WALL·E and Up (in case Disney Pixar movies count as well).

Alice in Wonderland. Close follow-ups are Aladdin, Robin Hood, Peter Pan, The Great Mouse Detective, and The Little Mermaid. The Black Cauldron is also genius and I am honestly shocked and horrified that it was made into a children's movie because it is dark and disturbing af.

And then we have other gems like Newsies and Babes in Toyland and James and the Giant Peach but I'm assuming we're talking about cartoons. :shobon:

It's definitely Robin Hood first. I don't know from there. A lot of others were really good.

Disney films shaped me as a person. My top five favorites are all instrumental in my development.

1. The Lion King - The first movie I recall in theaters and the first film I can recall having strong emotions with, also I love the music. I feel the music in The Lion King is more iconic than any other Disney music to date. Yes, I said it. Come at me, bro. It was also one of the films that got me interested in storytelling in a visual way.

2. Aladdin - Underdogs man, underdogs. I didn't like how they were treating the poor people and the discrepancies between the rich royalty and the poor peons. It was then that my socialism awakened.

3. Mulan - It was at the tender age of 8 watching this movie that I knew I had to become an adult Mulan. It awakened the feminist in me. The song Reflection was also literally my life.

4. Tarzan - Basically people are terrible towards animals and that needs to stop. It awakened my inner Ricky Gervais and that we should accept people who are different. It also made me aware of my love for Phil Collins' music.

5. Pocohantas - Same feelings as with Mulan. Pocahantas was a strong female protagonist and also hastened my awareness that we shouldn't be close-minded to other people's cultures. This film is also personal to me because it was my grandmother's favorite film and she always called me "her strong little Pocahantas". We are also part Native American on her side of the family so she shared some history of that with me.

If I ever have children it is mandatory that they watch all of these films. I don't understand why stick-up-the-ass Christians abhor them. It said sex in leaves in one scene in The Lion King, boo-hoo. Of course, I'll be showing them some recent ones too like Big Hero 6 and make their day very emotional.

Non-cartoon Disney movies... I really only liked James and the Giant Peach, but that was mostly animated. The part where the women turn in to a monster always frightens me though. Haggard biddies.

The Little Mermaid.

Ariel <3 When I learned her appearance was based off one of my favorite actresses, Alyssa Milano, that just made me love her even more.
