View Full Version : What is your opinion of bacon?
Does it deserve its reputation as the truly greatest of foods?

It's okay but people get all crazy about it and act like it's god's gift to man. I don't eat it plain and mainly just use it as an ingredient in other things.
The only reason it's the american staple for breakfast is because a propagandist was paid to promote it and it worked quite well.

Bacon's nice, but not like, the best thing ever. Americans put bacon in anything. Bacon Ice Cream Sundaes? Really?

It's great but I've always held the belief that Americans fuck it up by scorching it to all hell.

Bacon is good, but it isn't a stand alone food. Also if i could only eat one part of a pug for the rest if my life I'd choose the rubs instead. Though it is good it's best as a side.

Love bacon, not the food of gods. But I still love it. Unless someone brings in deer meat for deer burgers.

Bacon's good, but sausage is better.
I love it but yeah. Not worth the cholesterol.

Moose sausage is where it's at.
I like bacon, it is useful in some type recipes and a good food enhancer as in a bacon cheese burger or a BLT..etc. Something about its saltiness, slight crispiness and smoked flavor that i find appealing. I use it as combination with plain white rice.

I never know when it's done and whether or not I over cook it.
I like it when I have it but if it stopped existing I wouldn't be too fussed, I dont explicitly order things with bacon when Im out, but if I order a meal and it happens to come with bacon, neither do I pick it off.

Bacon is definitely God tier food. The only criticism I have is that it doesn't stay warm for very long. If someone brings me a bacon sandwich that has been off the grill for more than five minutes... it is truly devastating.
Bacon is fantastic, I have it most mornings. I don't understand why Americans love it so much though, US bacon is god awful, it tastes and feels like hard rubber.

I am not ashamed to be a proud American who likes his crispy bacon on pretty much anything. On sweets it's kind of weird but sometimes good. Sometimes.

I don't like chocolate bacon and I prefer my bacon limp and wiggly to crisp and brittle, so it's ok. I like it on a cheeseburger and on an egg and cheese sandwich and in a quiche.

Pretty much what maybee said. I try to eat healthy. The greasiness of bacon, while I enjoy it, after I eat too much of it, makes me feel really sick. And I'm pretty sure indulging in it too often can be good for your health.

You can cook it in healthier ways, but yeah, it is never going to be called a health food.

Maybe turkey bacon for you? It's definitely not bacon, but it's not bad.

Bacon with everything. Like bacon wrapped peppers. Or bacon wrapped avocados. Bacon wrapped chicken. Bacon wrapped meatloaf.
I'm like the bubba gump with bacon.
Might help I get "fresh" bacon. Aka local bacon. By local I mean my dad raised them. He won't be doing so this year though. I may get a piggy off my boss this next year though, he raises them too.

Don't like turkey either, I'm sorry, I'm a real big fussy eater ^^; Or I just don't enjoy or like food or that much ?

as someone who goes through massive hate for not liking cheese and mayo, I have no problem not judging anyone for food likes and dislikes.
Hey, I hate tomatoes, and everyone seems to put those everywhere :monster:

It's weird! I love tomato sauce, and tomato soup, but I find tomatoes as themselves to be rather meh.

Same, but replace "meh" with "absolutely revolting".

Fresh tomatoes with some olive oil and salt are godly. I can't stand them in burgers though.

Charcoal meat is actually good. It's Texas-style. smurfing delicious. I make my bacon well-done crisp and brown though. It's rare that I do have pork, but when I do it's typically bacon. There's two people in my life who make bacon exactly like I like it without me even having to say: my bf and my dad because they know wtf is up.
