In some cases, the first FF game you played isn't necessarily the first one you beat.

What's the first FF game you finished all the way through? Was it also your first FF?

Final Fantasy IX

I was all like "pow pow whoosh whazzam shoop shoop" and then the boss was all like "ugh blah no garg sjahdhd jk"

and then I won the game

Mine was likely the first FF. I remember it taking me forever to beat the, as they were then known, Wizards in the Marsh Cave. Once I finally did, the rest of the game seemed like a breeze.

Final Fantasy 9 ! Defeating Kuja and seeing Zidane and Garnet run up to each other after being separated for so long. So many memories.

I think a lot of people would say it was VII

Me it was the original FF. Just like Angus said, once through the Marsh Cave it was all a breeze. Still loved dropping Chaos. The second one I beat was VI, followed bye IV.

Edit: Before I beat VI, I also beat Mystic Quest. That game was that forgettable.

Mine was Mystic Quest. It was also the first one I played.

I think I beat IV before Mystic Quest, as I think I had it first.

If I remember correctly, the order I beat them in was: I, IV, MQ, VII, VIII, IX, VI, V, X, X-2, XII, II, III.

The ones after IX might be a little mixed. I know I beat the PSX & PS2 one's in order. II, V, & VI were the PSX rereleases & III was the DS one.

In my case my first FF was also the first one that I beat - VII.

FF7. Europe!!!!

Almost no-one in Europe had heard of the series before 7 (outside of RPG crazies). So it had that quasi-ironic effect of making us think "well it must be quite good to be on the 7th game".

FFVII, but it was a close one. FF8 is actually a lot easier to beat than FFVII. At least, I saw my brother finish it, and I didn't want to until I did everything.

I'm pretty sure the original was the first FF game I beat, and also the first one I owned. Still one of my favorites in the series, too. :)

I NES - IV Hardmode Rom - VI Rom - VII PC - V Rom - IV SNES - VI SNES - VIII PS - IX PS - VII PS - Mystic Quest SNES - IV PS - VI PS - V PS - Tactics PS - II ROM - III ROM - X PS2 - I PS - II PS - 1 GB - II GB - X2 PS2 - I ROM - XII PS2 - VI GB - XII PS2 - XIII PS3.

The order I beat each version of the game although there were several times I beat each game in-between before a new game. FFI on the NES was my first as well as the first one I beat. If I were to count the FF Legends games, Crono series, or Secret of Mana/other SE games they would fall pretty early into the list.

Yeah, FFVII for me too. Strangely, I had heard of Final Fantasy before this came out as I was collector of the Super Play magazines. They gave FFVI a huge score and I've always regretted not asking for it for a birthday/Christmas. Oh, to have been born into a rich family.

Mystic Quest which I beat the cartridge to pieces using a sledgehammer as I was stuck. FFVI was the second one that I beat without my hammer.
