I would probably give it a try if I had a Wii U, but it wouldn't really be a first day buy or anything

When my kids are old enough so that we can make levels for each other, which is in like 5 years.

Just going to say my mad theory that Angus is secretly planning to convert EoFF into a Super Mario Maker out from underneath us.

People have been making their own levels in different Mario games for ages now.

I mean, it's a good idea, and I think will make a fun game. I just don't understand the level of hype it's getting.

It's like Nintendo said, "Well, it's a Mario anniversary, but we're running out of ideas. I know. Let's just make a game where they can make their own game and share it with friends. They've been doing it for years anyway."

EDIT: Waits for Colonial Agnus's fury.

I think what Nintendo has provided is the UI and flexibility to create Mario levels to all ages and skill levels and to access those creations in a common area. It's a bit different than individuals going off and making their own levels by modding the code and putting them on their website or whatever.

I believe the Target that's a couple of blocks away from my work opens @ 7 (same time I start). I may get into work a little late that day (Target is also the exclusive dealer for Dr. Mario amiibo).

Pumpkin is right, I am super hyped for this! :omgomg: Honestly, it took everything in me to hold back the tears of joy. I'm already saying this is my favorite game.

Yeah, it's just like hacking the game, but w/o all the technical jive. I tried using a program to do that once & I didn't like it.

Well, there isn't also an EoFF mod conspiracy relating to that topic THAT'S FOR SURE!!!!

I'm pretty sure all Targets open at 8am except for special events/holidays.

Source: I've worked for Target (on and off) for twelve years

Anyways I don't have a Wii U and don't plan on getting one any time soon, so no Mario Maker for me. This is one of those games that I really wish was on 3DS because it seems like it would be perfect for it.

Yeah, I know that, I just still don't get the level of hype. Level building as part of a game is nothing new. Lots of other games have been focused on this, or had it as part of a game and done it really well.

The big draw here is it's Mario! that's doing it. That's great, but I just think sometimes Nintendo get's too much credit for things they're doing simply because of the franchises attached to their ideas and not because the ideas themselves are anything that revolutionary.

I think it's a really neat idea for a game, but that's because I have memories of being like six years old and drawing my own ideas for SMB 3 levels on notebook paper. It's basically a kid's dream come true!

Who else is as jacked as I am? :hyper::heart::heart:

I'm jacked as a dude named Jack who is also a lumberjack that has a deck of cards full of jacks and the classic Jacks game in the other pocket and I happened to eat Apple jacks cereal that helps me stay jacked at the gym.

I've got it! However, I didn't yet get the Anniversary amiibo.

Unfortunately, I upgraded my internet service yesterday & my router no longer connects my devices to the internet. :mad2:

I'm going to have to get another router tomorrow. $100+ bucks wasted. :mad2:

I didn't think I was getting mario Maker. But then I picked it up anyways. Part of me was happy to see Gnat Attack in there in some form, but it just doesn't have the same charm as the original Mario Paint version.

You know, I don't own a WiiU or have any particular interest in owning Super Mario Maker, but I am beyond impressed with all of the options available to people in it -- there is an unbelievable amount of freedom given here. Kudos to Nintendo. ^_^ b

Got this yesterday and boy did time fly by! My girlfriend and I are super chuffed with this game, really awesome stuff. Imagine having something like this in the early 90's, that would have blown my mind.

At first I was a bit annoyed with gating of content, but I completely understand. Once you start mucking around with your toolkit they slowly introduce you to more things. I'd probably feel too overwhelmed if I had access to everything from day one. This game is full on.

I uploaded 2 levels if anyone wants to check them out. They're easy, but hopefully interesting enough, I love making multiple pathways through a level. :)

I'm not sure if this is already in the game, or planned for the game in the future, but I'd LOVE a way to create objectives within a level! (e.g. find all 8 red coins before the exit will appear) I think it'd add another extra adventure element that I'd love to see in a Mario game. :)

I was in love with LittleBigPlanet, so I know I will love this. Unfortunately, I don't have any money at the money, but as soon as I get my shit straight, you better believe this will be one of the first games I'll buy!

Colonel Angus

There's a lot they could add. Whether they do it as DLC, an update or save it for a sequel, who knows.

I'm honestly hoping they'll do a LoZ Maker before they move away from the WiiU. Then they could do another mario maker.

I don't know where I found this video, but I think it's really good advice for level design in Mario Maker. :) I agree with him in that I kind of don't really like the over-saturation of troll or gimmicky levels, so it's nice to get an analysis on how to make levels that would fit into an actual Mario game.

Well, I've ended up making two sets of worlds that I've uploaded but I'm not sure how to get more people to play them. They're at an intermediate level, and are not troll or auto-levels, but those seem to get the most players. Is there a way to follow actual people? I'll gladly follow anyone on this forum and frequently check out your new levels if that's the case. :)

If anyone wants to check them out here they are:

Gallore! World:
Multiple ways to the end, have fun exploring.

1. 731D-0000-004E-C145
2. 3C12-0000-0053-9F7A
3. 6CDE-0000-0060-D60F
4. 59BA-0000-005C-781D

Secret World:
There's always at least one secret route to the end, but it won't be easy.

1. A023-0000-006F-B5FF
2. 0A6B-0000-007E-C11E
3. A49F-0000-0080-864F
4. 516D-0000-008B-9311

For my next world I wanted to do a set of single screen "arcade" type levels, just brainstorming some ideas so far.

You can follow people when you pull up their stage, before you click "Play", there's a heart icon. Click that & you can follow them.

It's kinda random whether or not you get people to play your levels. Some of mine have got a few plays & stars, like Red Pill/Blue Pill. Bowser's Keep hasn't gotten as much love.

Posting them here & on social media might help. I try to play other's levels when I get a chance. I'll check your's out next time I play.

I'm kinda getting tired of Expert 100 Mario being filled w/ troll levels. Played earlier & swiped @ least 8 stages. Didn't even beat one. The first time I made it to stage 15 before I died, the time after level 9. Today, there seemed to be a ton more FU stages. Maybe I was just impatient w/ some. I know all these stages are beatable, as they wouldn't be uploaded if not, but a lot on that level are ridiculous. Thank god for Medium. ^^;

Here are my stages for anyone interested:

Red Pill/Blue Pill: D376-0000-0046-E80F
Ancient Ruins: FD2C-0000-004D-34EC
Jumping Castle: 9E48-0000-004D-7097

Yeah same here! I've had so many levels where the moment it loads I get stacks of goombas just dropped on me, no time to react at all. Other times I have mega-bowser right in front of me as soon as the level starts, shooting fireballs and crap straight away before I can get my bearings. Sometimes it's all just so lame... Usually I'll give most levels a good go, but if I see really uninspired stuff that is obvious-troll material I'll skip it straight away.

I bought the game last week, so I made some levels and uploaded them. If any of you would like to try them, go right ahead! I'll say that most of them are moderately difficult, but a few are pretty easy.

Arowana Mall (F876-0000-008D-9F5F)
To use or not to use(the flower) (F876-0000-008D-9F5F)
Mega Man Dungeon (928C-0000-0089-CC23)
Ride up to the airship (B31D-0000-008A-F0FA)
Pipes Galore (F876-0000-008D-9F5F)
Get to the base! (EC92-0000-0092-4A42)

...yeah, enjoy!

Here's a stage some of you (Proto) might like. GameExplainer made a video for it. It was created by someone in Italy (not me). It's an Ace Attorney inspired level. I'll post the level code, so you can try to play it before watching the video, as it's kind of a puzzle stage.

Bump!

Just got this game after recently acquiring my Wii U. I'm gonna start working my way through all your levels now :D

OK, so I was hoping for an easier start, Sephex. Got past those two Bowsers at the end only to be killed by the third inches from the finish line! I'll get there. Good level!

In retrospect I tried too hard to make that level difficult. Glad you enjoyed it, regardless. If you click on my profile you will see much better levels. A couple of others are way too hard, but the last couple I made are far more reasonable and better designed.

The reason why the coins spell hidden and the other side shows that there is a question mark with a star bouncing around is that there is a hidden block with a star there.

If I had a Wii U, I'd probably just get one of the other games instead. I've gotten pretty creative in Terraria and Minecraft, but a level maker is a bit different.
