I found out when I went to military basic training that I was much better at following directions than the average person. I was the first in my flight to disassemble and reassemble my rifle, and I did both in under 30 seconds each. The next closest person took over a minute for each.

The big tradeoff: Making decisions by myself is really really hard. That's why I play most non-linear games with a guide... And why I find it really really hard to play Elder Scrolls and Fallout games unless I get specific inspiration. It's a terrible, terrible thing having to decide your character's looks, skills, name, allegiances, morals, etc etc. Though, I am trying really hard to overcome that by playing the ultimate sandbox more often: D&D.

Yes I am. And "pick this option" wasn't in the directions, it was an option :p

I start trying very hard to follow, but if I find an easier way I always wonder from them

Oh gosh yes. I'm terrible. I'm fine if someone tells me "Go do this, then this, then that..." and so on, but as soon as I'm by myself I'm awful at thinking what to do next.

Depends on what's being asked. Often time I need specific instructions like where's something is at, otherwise I could be looking right at it and not know because the description I was given was horrible.

Nah I deliberately do what I choose to do and sometimes that means not doing exactly what is instructed. If it's a work thing, it is is often times because I have a better way of doing something. People who are older and less technology savvy tend to think there is only one way to do things. I never read instructions for IKEA or Legos either. I don't got time for that.

If I pick the option: "No, I'm a rebel", would I still be following orders, and therefore negating my rebellious option?

Yep, that's why I didn't answer it.

I am when I need to. I am utterly awful at giving directions though, out of all skills and talents I honestly think it's probably the thing I'm worst at.

I'm great at it.

I forget directions easily, my short term memory isnt good. But say its a game guide or in game instructions, once it goes into my long term memory it becomes second nature.
