MOBAs are all the rage with the kids these days. Which one has your loyalty?

Awesomenauts is just plain fun but of the more dota style ones I play Heroes of the Storm the most. I wouldn't argue that others don't have more depth, but the changes they made which remove all of the boring shit that makes up the first 15-20 minutes of the other ones are a god send. You end I p with more activity between players, more team fights, and less screwing around with boring mechanics like last hits and such. Sure, those things add some depth to those games, but that stuff isn't actually fun.

I'd rather try to eek out those tiny advantages against human players directly, rather than against AI mobs.

Where's Smite? Also I don't play them. They attract the biggest bunch of assholes.

I've played heroes of the storm but I was hella bad at it.

I don't regularly play them though.

Smite is probably popular enough to at least make the poll.

Anyway I play or have played all or almost all of them, Dota is still the best overall, on the condition that you're willing to sell it your soul. It certainly isn't without flaws, but I think its flaws are the least damaging of the flaws of any of them.

Anyone who answers AoS is a liar.

Dota 2 is my choice. Part of why I like it is the difficulty and I feel like I've come quite a way through the mechanics. I usually play support and this role has given me some of the most rewarding and disappointing gaming experiences ever in my life. Setting up early ganks is very rewarding. Supporting a dumb carry that just decides to go #yolo after you've stacked, pulled, ganked and rescued him is frustrating as hell. I need occasional breaks from the game to keep my sanity.

I've played a lot of MOBAs over the years, and I almost always find elements about various titles I really like, but in the end League is the game I keep coming back to. While I have some complaints here and there, it has the mechanics and scaling I like the most, and I have a general preference towards its item selection over most other MOBAs, even in instances where they are largely the same. That said, however, I find Heroes of Newerth has my favorite character pool -- a chunk of which is shared with DotA -- and that in instances where rough analogues exist between the three titles, League ends up with my least favorite of the bunch.
