Has anyone here experienced this - you meet someone and think "Oh my God, I wanna be their friend so smurfing bad!"?

I've had this a couple times, but that might be because I'm both very shy and very sociable, and all my old friends are far away and I just can't make new ones.

If I want to be someones friend and our social classes allow it (eg, its not a celebrity platonic crush) I will generally try to find a way to subtly weasel myself into their life. Unfortunately for them I'm usually successful. Though generally they have to be at least a friend of a friend of a friend or circumstances have caused us to be acquaintances before I can make my move, I cant just go up to a stranger on a train I find fascinating.

I attribute this to playing table top RPGs in my formative years, and the shape of the dice used in those games.

Yes, I've had this quite a number of times in my life. I become fascinated with certain friends and want to hang out with them and talk to them constantly. It lasts a few months, normally, perhaps a bit longer. Sometimes it can blossom into a truly wonderful friendship that lasts for well over a decade. Sometimes it fizzles out slowly over time but the memories and bond remain in rare times we catch up. Sometimes I frighten them off. :') Oops.

When you find that friend that you just love being around, though, and they feel similarly, that kind of friendship is the best friendship life can offer.
