Me and Mr. Carny will be going to a midnight service tonight. It's sort of a tradition I've been doing whenever I'm around home for the holidays.

Has any of you been to a midnight service or a midnight mass? Did you enjoy it?

Not really, most people around here are Protestant and my family wasn't especially religious.

Yep yep, my favourite Christmas tradition! Midnight mass, come home and open presents, enjoy them a while before bed, and sleep in on Christmas morning. I love mass and I'm always miserable when I miss it. Luckily I've been able to go every year the past few years and I am quite excited!

You don't open your Christmas presents on Christmas morning? :hot:

That's what I said? Midnight mass is at midnight so we get home and open them at 1 on Christmas morning.

It's very very Christmas morning :P

You don't sleep, wake up at say, 07:00 or 08:00, and don't open them then?

Laaaame. :p

Wake up early on Christmas? No!

It's the only day of the year I'm willing to wake up early for. :jess:

Never been to a midnight service, but I would, even though I'm atheist. I'm sure it's just beautiful.

RE: Opening presents
My family's tradition for the last 15 years is to open presents on Christmas Eve and open stockings on Christmas morning. It's the best tradition.

I guess that works, though I'd do the smaller stocking gifts on Christmas Eve, and having Christmas morning host the main presents, but that's just me. I really love Christmas morning, and I guess traditions pass down through families!

No my parents baptised me into a different religion than the one they follow for some reason and then I grew up into an agnostic

My real parents have never been church going people. My foster parents were wacky Pentecostals who thought Christmas was satanic so we stayed home and pretended like it was just any other day. We did, however, go to a late night mass on Halloween every year. I guess Halloween wasn't as evil as Christmas. :p

We arrived at the Church at around 11:30 to find they've cancelled midnight mass :( Oh well, will have to find a new Church for next year

I thought this thread was about something else entirely.
