It's a new year which means it's time to try to clear out that backlog to make room for all the new stuff you obtained. :jess:

I'm breaking this up by console/platform. Please choose one game from each console, or if you feel I need to focus on one console, place the games on the list in the order I should play them in. Thank you for your time!

My List of important games to play:

Steam

Bastion
Half Life 1 and/or 2 - Started first entry, probably at the halfway point. Not really my thing.
Deus Ex
Knights of the Old Republic
Braid - Started, but never got hooked

Fallout 2
Undertale - Started, but never got hooked
Amnesia: The Dark Descent - Started, and learned I have a very high tolerance for horror.

The best choices on the list :)

Steam
Knights of the Old Republic. It's rare for me to say this, but being dated makes it a bit hard to play. It's still a good game though.

PS3
Mass Effect Series. Seriously, start at 1.

PS2
Zone of the Enders 2nd Runner. An enjoyable game.

PlayStation
Your choice

PSP
No experience here.

Wii
Or here

GameCube
Skies of Arcadia. I enjoyed it way back when. Maybe it's still fun?

N64
LoZ: Majora's Mask

SNES
Tactics Ogre. Not entirely sure here, just a hunch.

3DS
Bravely Default (Once you finish 4 Heroes of Light) By reputation alone.

DS
Finish one of the half dozen games you started... like Revenant Wings or DQIX.

Sega Stuff
Can Shadowrun be put on this list? It's the greatest Sega game. I may have bias from my pen and paper Shadowrun days.

Steam
Deus Ex (wanted to say HL1 but Deus Ex is probably a bit more up your alley)

PS3
Uncharted series (No brainer really though I'm disappointed in you for not liking Mirror's Edge)

PS2
Zone of the Enders 2nd Runner

PlayStation
Parasite Eve

PSP
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

Wii
Okami (of course the only thing worth playing on your Wii list is a PS2 game)

GameCube
Start over on Tales of Symphonia

N64
LoZ: Majora's Mask

SNES
Illusion of Gaia (almost said Mystic Quest so you could know true suffering, but my old LP of the game is marginally more enjoyable)

3DS
Persona Q (I still haven't played it but, you know, Persona)

DS
LoZ: Spirit Tracks (Don't even joke about finishing Revenant Wings. Ugh.)

GameBoy/Advance
Pokemon Silver

Sega Stuff
Sonic 2 (maybe play the others out of curiosity but Sonic 2 is the best of them by a fairly wide margin)

My recommendations: Digital Devil Saga, Tactics Ogre, Bravely Default. I've played a lot of the others from the list and many are very good, but here are the ones I think deserve priority over others.

PS3
Mass Effect Series. Seriously, start at 1.

Oh I've played the first two, I just never got around to starting 3.

Sega Stuff
Can Shadowrun be put on this list? It's the greatest Sega game. I may have bias from my pen and paper Shadowrun days.
Lol, well maybe I'll look into it.

killer 7 if you're feeling weird

It is a weird game, but I did enjoy what I played.

Steam
PS3
Uncharted series (No brainer really though I'm disappointed in you for not liking Mirror's Edge)
If it didn't have mandatory combat sections and was just about the free running and chase, I would adore this game, but combat slows this game down and feels out of place with the concept.

Wii
Okami (of course the only thing worth playing on your Wii list is a PS2 game)
Lmao, you sound like one of my friends.

SNES
Illusion of Gaia (almost said Mystic Quest so you could know true suffering, but my old LP of the game is marginally more enjoyable)
Might just finish Mystic Quest (not like starting over is going to do anything for me) and then hit this game up.

DS
LoZ: Spirit Tracks (Don't even joke about finishing Revenant Wings. Ugh.)
If I wasn't literally at the final boss battle, I would forget about it.

You know, I'm not even going to suggest anything else until Knights of the Old Republic and Deus Ex are off this list. You can skip these two in the same way your body can skip oxygen and food.

Steam
Bastion
Half Life 1 and/or 2
Deus Ex
Knights of the Old Republic
Braid

Not much knowledge, but Mr. Carny loved KotOR. I've also heard good things about Braid and Half Life, but they're rather different games, so it depends on what you fancy playing.

PS3
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Falg
Batman: Arkhum City (yes I'm that far behind in the series)
Mass Effect 3 (I have played the earlier entries)
Ni Nu Kuni: Wrath of the White Queen
Uncharted series (I have not played any of them)
3D Dot Game Heroes
Start over/finish Valkyria Chronicles... I know you'll love it WOLF CANOE IF YOU JUST GIVE IT ANOTHER CHANCE!
Same as above but replace VC with White Knight Chronicles
Same as above but replace VC and WKC with Mirror's Edge

Mr. Carny wasn't terribly favourable about Black Flag, thinking the series ended rather neatly on the third game. As for me, I'd recommend Mass Effect 3. Yes, ending blah blah (I personally didn't mind the ending) but everything else about the game is great, and is worth playing regardless if you've played 1 and 2.

I've heard good things about Ni Nu Kuni, and the Uncharted series is a classed PS exclusive (if you have a PS4, you might want to get the Nathan Drake collection). The other games? Not much experience with, so I can't say.

PS2
Beyond Good and Evil
The Bouncer
Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2
Drakengard
GTA: Vice City
Godhand
Killer 7
Shadow Hearts 1 and/or 2
Steambot Chronicles
Tales of the Abyss
Yakuza
Zone of the Enders 2nd Runner

GTA: Vice City is a very solid classic from this era, and if you've enjoyed other GTA games, it is worth playing. Not much knowledge of the others, frankly.

PlayStation
Arc the Lad III
Parasite Eve
Finish Saga Frontier II
Finish one of my playthroughs...

I've heard of Parasite Eve, which is something. Other than that, I've got nothing.

PSP
Prinny: Can I really be the hero?
Loco Roco
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
Assassin's Creed:Bloodlines
Finish P3P or Star Ocean 1

I'd recommend finishing P3P if you've never beaten either the Male or Female stories. If you've beaten only the Male one, then finishing the Female route is also recommended.

Tactics Ogre is good, from what I hear.

N64
LoZ: Majora's Mask

Majora's Mask is a classic, really. Well worth playing.

3DS
Bravely Default (Once you finish 4 Heroes of Light)
Persona Q
Soul Hackers

I'm playing Persona Q now. It's by no means the best Persona/SMT game ever, but it is good, and pays good tribute to the characters. Yes, they're flanderised somewhat, but it is interesting watching the two sets of characters interact, and the story is surprisingly interesting.

Bravely Default is obviously well known about. If you don't fancy PQ, then that's also decent.

DS
LoZ: Spirit Tracks
Rhaspsody: A Musical Adventure
Finish one of the half dozen games you started... like Revenant Wings or DQIX.

I've played Spirit Tracks and it's a decent Zelda game. Nothing truly special about it, though there are some interesting puzzles involving the use of Zelda's spirit.

GameBoy/Advance
DemiKids Light and/or Dark Edition
Pokemon Silver
Mega Man Xtreme

Pokemon Silver is often seen as the best Pokemon game, so it is a good call to play it.

Pumpkin

Steam
Bastion
Half Life 1 and/or 2
Deus Ex
Knights of the Old Republic
Braid

Don't know any of these

PS3
Mass Effect 3 (I have played the earlier entries)
Ni Nu Kuni: Wrath of the White Queen

I've only played a bit of Mass Effect 3 so I can't comment too much, but I enjoyed 2 a lot. Ni No Kuni is also good but it's very long so be prepared for a time investment!

PS2
Tales of the Abyss

Tales yes. Abyss is a really good game

PlayStation
Arc the Lad III

Haven't played any but I have heard good things about this one. Can't say from a personal point though

PSP
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

This one so you can give me help and tips ;_;

Wii
Arc Rise Fantasia
Okami
Pandora's Tower
No More Heroes 2
Finish one of the half dozen games you started but never finished...

Haven't played any of these

GameCube
Start over on Tales of Symphonia
Start over on Skies of Arcadia

Both excellent games. I prefer Symphonia but can't go wrong with either

N64
LoZ: Majora's Mask

Second favourite game ever. Should tell you what you need to know

3DS
Bravely Default (Once you finish 4 Heroes of Light)

WE CAN PLAY AT THE SAME TIME

Steam
Knights of the Old Republic (The game is really dated, but it's also really good)

PS3 (This one is hard)
Mass Effect 3 (The Citadel alone makes it worth it, otherwise it's okay)
Ni Nu Kuni: Wrath of the White Queen (This game is fun and very pretty, but then everything grinds to a halt, while you grind)
White Knight Chronicles (I have the same problem)

PS2 (These are two (3) of my all time favorite games)
Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2
Tales of the Abyss

PlayStation
Parasite Eve

PSP
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together

Wii
Pandora's Tower (I've heard really good things about this. I didn't like the motion controls on Okami, get it on the PS3)

GameCube
Skies of Arcadia

N64
LoZ: Majora's Mask

SNES
FF: Mystic Quest (It's like five hours long and very tongue in cheek and music is great)

3DS
Persona Q

DS
DQIX.

Pokemon Silver

Just Knights of the Old Republic 1? Or both? Because the second one just got a really good update after like 10 years, and they added achievements, upgraded resolutions options, added the ability to utilize the steam workshop, and added controller support. So it's really the best of all worlds right now. Like playing a modded Skyrim on PC with a console controller. I love it. Now if Bethesda would do that with Oblivion. Or BioWare with Mass Effect. Maybe I'd actually play those games on PC

Yeah, no, I'm pretty sure Wolf likes to try out older games in their original release format first :p Tried to get him to try the Enhanced Edition of Baldur's Gate instead of the broke original. No go.

Listen, if you're busted ass game can't hold up without mods, fan patches, and updates then it obviously wasn't that good to begin with. :colbert:

Kidding aside, I prefer playing games in their original format for the most part. Hard to appreciate good changes to a game if you don't know the original, and sometimes the original version has its own unique charm that gets changed when the game gets updated to modern taste. Final Fantasy III pretty much taught me that much.

I don't have KotOR 2 yet, figured I should give the original a whirl first to see if I like it, but seeing how I have an almost masochistic pleasure with old school clunky RPGs and the fact that I actually love Star Wars despite rarely talking about it on the forum, I have a feeling it will be in my future at some point. ;)

I had to play through the first one twice because of a glitch. It didn't bother me in the slightest. So much fun. Tried it on PC a couple times and it didn't stick. Probably due to my loathing of WASD.

Playing the sequel on PC now that it has controller support and I can't stop. And I can patch in lost content for a directors cut version

Here's my input!

Steam: Stanley Parable
PS3: Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag or the Uncharted series
PS2: Beyond Good and Evil
PSP: P3P
Gamecube: Tales of Symphonia (although there are bits where it drags, tbh)
SNES: Lufia. It's not the best game but I'm personally quite fond of it and think it's worth a playthrough.
3DS: Bravely Default (although I wouldn't worry about getting the "true" ending tbh, talk about frustrating)
GBA: Pokemon Silver if you can make it work!
PS4: Fallout 4
Switch: BoTW
