You need to recommend someone 5 videogames. You do not know which genre that person might like or dislike.

What games are your choice?

With five games and no genre to narrow things down, it's probably best to spread around:

Persona 4: Golden
Dragon Age: Origins
Mass Effect
Mario Kart 8 (always a safe option, unless they're allergic to racing games)
The Sims 3

I admit, not the best spread, and I have included two Action RPGs up there, but I've not really played that many games, so I can't really recommend a straight up shooter.

I just did a mix of my favourite games that are very player friendly while still being revolutionary (for example no KotOR because Mass Effect is a similar but more polished product).

The Last of Us
Mass Effect
Kingdom Hearts
Final Fantasy X
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

Close Contenders were Batman: Arkham City, Crash Team Racing, God of War and Tekken 6.

Metal Gear Solid
Final Fantasy X
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Tekken Tag Tournament 2
Bust-a-Groove 2 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SaZGEyGmMRU) (yes, a rhythm game, and no, I'm not kidding)

If I were to add a 6th it'd be Gravity Rush: Remastered. I'd also like to throw in a visual novel game like Ace Attorney.

Role-Playing Game

Final Fantasy VII
The story of life and how everything is connected,
the journey of finding yourself and to find out,
what it is worth for you to fight for
Nier Gestalt
In my opinion best father-child story ever created in history
No The Last of Us
No Heavy Rain
Only a father
and how he would tear down
the sky
to save his child
Final Fantasy IX
A story about life, self-reflection and
how even those you would never expect
need no reason to be helped

Cinematic Movie Game

You can almost not do anything wrong with recommending a Cinematic Movie Game to someone.

Beyond Two Souls
A dramatic experience,
reflected through the life of Jodie Holmes,
a young woman connected to a spirit
Life is Strange
The story of two best friends and soul mates
and what you would do for each other

It is a pity that the RPGs already took away 3 slots but I cannot ignore them.

5. Worms 4: Mayhem[/QUOTE]

Best of the 3D versions, but the original 2D Worms Armageddon is still my favourite, for me.

You know what? I like this take on the thread better.

1.) Sword of Sodan
2.) Shadow of the Beast
3.) Shadow of the Beast 2
4.) Dark Castle
5.) Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

It's a tricky one as it'll have to be a good mix of genres.

1) The Last of Us
2) A Link to the Past
3) Final Fantasy VII
4) Mario Kart (any)
5) Shadow of the Colossus

If they weren't keen on any of them then I would refuse to acknowledge them as a human being.

DEATH FOR ALL MY FRIENDS!

Portal 2
Freelancer
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Civilization IV
Final Fantasy VII

Something real life, something fantasy, something sci-fi, action mixed in with "play at your own pace", some complex, some simple, some old, some new, some funny, some serious, some story-rich, some fairly story-absent... etc. Missed out on racing (Mark Kart most likely) and sport (Football Manager!) because, well, I could only list five games and in the end something had to give.

why would you recommend portal 2 and not 1?

Loony BoB

Because I've only played the second and I loved it to bits.

Weirdo. I'd understand it if the first game wasn't good, but it is in fact great.

Oh, I'm sure it is! I just haven't got around to playing it yet - I won't include a game I've never played on my list. Also, for me, a lot of the real enjoyment came from the co-op portion of Portal 2 and Wheatley, so I wouldn't be surprised if Portal 2 would remain my favourite of the two after I play the older one sometime.

1. Okami
2. You haven't finished Okami yet.
3. Alright, you've finished it. Now play it again.
4. ...
5. I'm sorry, I can't talk right now; I'm playing Okami.
