Which is your favourite Final Fantasy Era? Feel free to choose them all if you think there's something to be said for each :-)

I choose Golden Era, but I do have time for Old School (up to a point)

How's about you guys?

I'm more of a fan of VII VIII and IX so saying VII is still original I'll go with it. VI is the best in old school era imo. I'd say that I hate x, XI XII and almost XIII. XIII being the best in modern for me.

I think I prefer the Old School, even if I love them all.

I'm a hybrid of Golden/Modern Era. There's a few from both I rather enjoy.

Golden Era all the way.

Old School followed by Golden Era. XII is the only thing to come out of the Modern Era that is worth it.

I'd assumed it's part of Golden. At least the categorization in EoFF seems to imply as much.

My bad, I was thinking of an old SE interview that listed the Golden Era as the PS1 through FFX and everything else was Modern Era.

Well then there is nothing I care for in the Modern Era then.

Ten years ago is not modern.

I wouldn't call the PS2 era the Golden Age either. :p

I thought it was PS1 and FFX that was "Golden." FFVII is the best selling JRPG ever IIRC and then FFVIII sold even better than VII I do believe, at least initially and then X was another smash hit. VII and X have huge, enduring popularity as well.

I can hardly blame Square for considering this their golden age.

Honestly, I wouldn't call FFX the Golden Age either but more of the beginning of the end. Though I'll concur it probably deserves to be in that category due to being the last popular FF.

The PS2 era pretty much spelled the end of Square's honeymoon with the fanbase, and it's been divisive ever since. So yeah, I guess the point here is that FFXII falls into SE's Modern Era while it's part of the Golden Era on this forum.

They way I always seen it was 1-6 old school, 7-9 Golden Age, 10-14 Modern. With tactics and Ivalice related games within 12.

Every prequel/sequel with the main titles, Final Fantasy Spin Off, Other Square Enix.

Whichever era FFX is in, seeing as you people can't decide and I simply don't care.

I, III, IV, and VI are my favorites in the series, so I guess that drops my preference clearly in the 'old school' era. :)
