What is your favourite type of role-playing video game and what are some examples of that?

Action RPGs because in a good number of cases, you have to use strategy and think on your feet at the same time. I also like how they are reflex based in a good number of situations. FFXV.....mauahaahahahahahaha.

Anyone that let's me make my character. I went with MMORPG because that's what I've been playing the most.

I can't really decide
JRPG's are the one's I've played the most and while I have fond memories of the good times I can't really get involved enough to play one now. Too much grinding and I dont really find random encounters fun anymore.
WRPG's can be fun but they have to be really good to hook me for more than 10 minutes.
Never really been into tactical rpgs but if the right one came along that could change.
Action RPG's again depend strongly on the actual quality of the RPG.
Dungeon crawling RPG's do not interest me.
I've enjoyed free MMORPG's but the monthly subscriptions are a major turnoff for me.
Alpha protocol is the only mixed Genre RPG I've played and I really enjoyed it.
JRPGs, easily. I still countr tactical RPGs like FFT and Tactics Ogre or Action RPGs like Kingdom Hearts as JRPGs, though, so it's kinda cheating. But if I had do separate them and choose just one, I still think I'd choose JRPGs if only because Dragon Quest exists and I am showering it with my undying love.

Where's the "Turn-Based RPG" option?! :argh:
It doesn't matter if it's JRPG or WRPG - it must be turn-based! :colbert:

I side pretty strongly with JRPGs overall, though this is largely due to most of my favorite RPGs being JRPGs more than due to particularly favoring anything about JRPGs themselves.

I voted tactical to give it some love, but I'm pretty torn among the first four options. I love them all! I probably lean most on JRPGs and Tactical RPGs.
I'm gonna go with ARPG because I LOVE me some Diablo

CRPG with ARPG in a very VERY close second.

Oh man, it'd be JRPGs for Final Fantasy and Star Ocean, but there's an old game from the 90s, a WRPG called Might and Might: World of Xeen, that game alone makes WRPGs my second favorite.

WRPG. Obviously.

Tough one. I really love JRPGs and WRPGs, but I feel WRPGs tend to offer greater customisation of your character, allowing you to craft your own story. Dragon Age and Mass Effect rank very highly.
Action RPGs are fine as well, I guess. I prefer pausing combat when I want to, which I'm not sure is always a feature of them (I can't even think of any examples of ARPGs that I've played).
You've played Kingdom Hearts and the Tales series!

Oh, are those ARPGs? Sometimes the categories blur, I would have placed Tales games in JRPGs, which just shows that describing an entire genre on location gets confusing.
That's why I said I lumped SRPGs and ARPGs together with JRPGs. I mean, FF Tactics is a JRPG, but also an SRPG. Same with KH being both ARPG and JRPG. So yeah.

Officially Tales of are JRPG's and not ARPG's. I don't know why. But Star Ocean and KH are indeed ARPG's

Strategy/tactical or action, although the two can have a lot of overlap. I went for strategy/tactical in the end!

The first games I ever finished were JRPGs (Breath of Fire 2 and Shining Force 2) and I have probably finished more JRPGs by three times than my next most played genre. There's just something about them that sits perfectly with me. I can enjoy JRPGs that most people think are awful more than good or great games in other genres. Which probably makes me crazy.
