So everyone loves Nobuo Uematsu, but which other Final Fantasy composer do you think does the series justice the most?

Poll only covers main composers, not those that helped others in collaboration (so, sorry Naoshi Mizuta and Junya Nakano, you're out), but if you feel they deserve a spot, that's what the "Other" option is for ;) Also, I count Bravely Default as FF, so Revo and Ryo get spots of their own :3:

From what I've heard of XV's soundtrack, I'd be tempted to go for Shimomura-san. But so far that's only been a very small highlight reel, I can't judge an actual soundtrack.

I recently discovered the genius that is Revo and love what I've heard of Bravely Default... but again, I don't know the entire soundtrack. So gonna give it to Ishimoto-san - some very nice work on CC and Type-0.

originally, i had 3. but i realize i only like a few song in Type-0.

but choosing between XIII and XII is tough.
though XII had some... thing... in it that i like, im not sure why.

so... XII composer for me

I could do this all day.

FFX-2 had maybe four or five really good songs and then a lot of crap.
XII had a lot of good songs but was overall mediocre.
XIII had pretty much nothing but great songs with several absolutely amazing pieces.

So Hamauzu it is.

P.S.
Just learned Mizuta composed Caius' Theme. Otherwise this would have been even more of a no-brainer.

Since when has Bravely Default been considered a Final Fantasy game?

I think FFXII had the best non-Nobuo music, though. So that guy.

Revo from Bravely Default, the music for that game is fantastic. Also loving Yoko's tracks for FF 15.

The Bravely games have alot of Final Fantasy feeling and emotions to them. It's only not a Final Fantasy game, in name only.

I like the rock music from Type-0 and Crisis Core. And Price of Freedom is one of my favorite soundtracks. Also didn't know the same person did the music for both of them, but it makes since.

You just wanted to talk about Bravery Default's composer more didn't you Fynn?

Hitoshi Sakimoto, while I would usually say Yoko in this instance, the majority of the tracks I like from them are from their non-FF works.

Ivalaice has always been close to me, and I feel Sakimoto is underrated because he composes some great stuff (hell check out his non-Ivalice works) and often he does create some really powerful themes that get overshadowed by the more recurring musical themes in his games, like battle and map themes.

Yup, the Bravely series is classic FF in all but name. The actual first game in the series was called Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light, though the tie may seem loose. (expect a lot of Bravely inclusion in upcoming polls, btw :p) You need to try them, Jinx! They kinda feel similar to FFIX in some regards

For me, this was a really tough choice, as I love all of these composers, and four were actually contenders for my vote.

Hitoshi Sakimoto writes these great, sweeping, movie-like soundtracks that are just such an important part of the presentation of Ivalice that I really can't imagine anyone else doing the music.

Yoko Shimomura is just the master of dramatic sounding music that just sends chills down my spine. Lots of romantic piano.

Revo is the guy behind the Attack on Titan opening theme. As you can imagine, the Bravely Default soundtrack is a classic FF OST on steroids. It's quite possibly my favorite video game soundtrack of all time - I literally never grow tired of it.

But ultimately my vote goes to Hamauzu. He's classically trained, just like Shimomura, but I've really never heard anyone utilize an impressionistic style in video game music quite so effectively. He's definitely one of the most original composers out there and the feel his music provides is very FF, in my opinion. Plus, he's probably the only one on the list to really use the piano to its full potential.

Yep. Along with the original FFT, Vagrant Story - everything by Matsuno, really.

Toss up between the dude who did FFX and the dude who did FFXII. Both excellent soundtracks.

I think my favorite one is Masashi Hamauzu for the wonderful music of FFX and FFXIII Trilogy, but FFXV's soundtrack seems very beautiful, so it could change eventually.
