Yes you read that right, there's an anime. Yes Square Enix did make an anime for Final Fantasy XV. Surprise! The first episode is already live! Hold you on to your excitement and check it out!

Is this like a prequel or what? It'd be pretty stupid if an anime had the same story as a game that hasn't been released yet

Prequel isn't right, because it's detailing events that are clearly happening around the time of the initial demo, which supposedly isn't the very beginning of the game (might be for all I know, but I'd expect a little more intro).

I see it as a sort-of trailer. Or a little set of miniature events that happen that weren't worth putting into the game, but are neat on their own. I don't have any problem with it - I think it was pretty neat.

It is supposed to give backstory to the main four guys. I am assuming this will be done mostly through flashbacks while showing generic road trip scenes during the present as to not spoil the game.

That's probably right! Also, Noctis is a picky eater. Of course. We knew a little of that from that kid video of him sticking his tongue out with the soup. Amusing to see the consistency on something so trivial.

Oh hey, just watched episode 1! Surprised at how OK it is. Not exactly the most in depth anime I've ever seen but some very nice animation and enjoyable character interactions make this a worthy entry into the XV hype machine!

Yeah, it was alright. Disappointed that it was only 10 minutes long, but hey ho. Another 4 to go!
