So Watching the YouTube channel the Gaming Histrorian He was talking about Mario Brothers 2. The booklet that came with the game showed Birdo, the thing that shoots eggs at you discription. It said:

Is a boy who thinks its a girl.

was he the first trans gender NPC in a video game?

The earliest I know of off the top of my head, though I have encountered people saying Ms. Pac-Man was transgendered, which I don't think is accurate.

She is, and it's not an argument I've ever well understood, seeing they have a baby in the game. Still, it is something I've heard. :shrug:

I think from memory Birdo is a male, but he prefers to be female. So yeah he or rather she's trans.

Yeah, pretty sure she's confirmed as trans at this point. So kudos for Nintendo, really, for being a family-friendly company and having a trans character be there! :D
