Let's Play Romance Of The Three Kingdoms VI

I have always been a huge fan of the Romance games and have beaten all of them with the exception of V, and X

I had the urge to play the series again and stuck to an emulator for my consoles are in storage at the moment I decided to turn back on VI. I am currently playing around with it right now to refamiliarize with the game play and will start the Let's Play tomorrow.

If you played Dynasty Warriors it's a strategic version of that. Basically you have to take over China and unit the land. There are 52 cities to conquer and also tribes that attack. You must for each city manage resources and keep population up as you draft to up your troops to defend and take over and become emperor

They also tend to mix things up in different versions of the game, so in some you control your country or state, whilst in others you're just one guy and you issue orders and stuff. I kind of prefer the latter because you can also just go be an officer in someone else's army, which is pretty neat.

I will make Mr. Adequate an officer! The series they started making it so you could be just an officer is VII. My favorite two of the series is IX, and XII.

We are officially started in the year 194 AD. I created a new ruler bye the name of Ki Ng. And our officers are:

our city we started with is Luo Yang. Population is at 220,500 citizens. It is October and we are working on civil affairs getting the city rebuilt and standing tall.

As as for big threats we have Cao Cao to the east, Yan Feng to our North, and Li Jue to the west of us that could strike at any minute.

Well it's now January 197 and we continue working on the city. We have hired a new officer as well named Jia Kui who will help with public safety.

We were also visited bye the Emperor and asked us for money. Being the loyal seventh we are we agreed and gave him 2000 gold. In return he gave us rank in his army of Lt. governor.

Fy Nn was named head advisor to Ki Ng

February 198 We hired an officer bye the name of Uxe Zong

In March Sun Ce borrowed large amounts of grain for his army in a cut scene. We will have to keep an eye on him as he looks to be looking at expansion.

In april we hired another officer bye the Name of Gong Du who was a former rebel. He was put to work on public safety as well.

In September Li Jue attacked us. FF Nutt, and Bubba to meet them and we lost. We will begin again in a easier location.

So here is the new setup. We are starting in December 189 AD, we are in the southern city of Jian Ning. Our closest threats are the Nanman to the South, and Lui Yan to the North. We have a population in the city of 200,030 people as we must first work on getting the city profitable, hen deal with our biggest threat which is to the South the Nanman. Here we begin and I'll update at the beginning of year 191 or if a big event happens.

December 189 Fy Nn named head advisor.

January 190 Cao Cao has formed a collation against Dong Zhuo many rulers have come together in their cause they are:

March 190 Dong Zhuo abandons the capital of Luo Yang and torches it to the ground moves the Capital to Chang An and takes the Emporer with him.

Aug 190 Yuan Shao attacked Liu Yong and has defeated him executing Liu Yong and taking his land for himself.

December 190 Dong Zhuo attacks Yuan Shu and destroys his army ending the army of Yuan Shu

as we head into the year 191 we are still in Jian Ning working on city improvements. We have yet to find any new officers to head our call and help us.
Pour biggest threat is the barbarians to the south in Nanman who's troops are 2X ours at present and we must look to deal with soon as they will come for blood if left alone.

Jan 191. We have successfully recruited an officer bye the name of Yong Kai and he is working on the cities public safety.

March 191, Liu Yan attacks us. We meet him in the field with Mr. adequate and FF Nutt. We successfully fought off the invasion and captured Zhang Wei of his force. We kept him prisoner for now.

July 191 the Emperor asks us for funds. Being loyal servants we accept and give him 2000 gold. In return he makes us Lt. Govenor.
July 191 Yong Kai defects to Ma Teng. We will have his head latter for this deception.

December 191 we finish the year still working on the city development, having fought off one attack and having an officer defect to another ruler(we will hang his head in time mono worries)

Jian Ning Population is at 219,200 people. Nanman is still our biggest threat as we make plans to strike in 192 to take control and secure our southern boarder.

It it truley is one of my favorite series to play. You get biographies on all the officers, plus each is different ranging from useless to game breaking. If you were to start in the series I'd suggest XII as it has the easier gameplay and civil side of things were sped up a ton. Plus it is one of the strongest in the series.

January 192 Dong Zhuo falls in love with Wang Yun's daughter Diao Chan and marries her.


Feb 192 Diao Chan falls in love with Lu Bu which causes a rift between Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu. Lu Bu plots revenge on Dong Zhou for taking Diao Chan from his arms.

March 192 Li Su disguises himself as the emperors envoy and tells Dong Zhou to meet him later in the garden so the Emporer can give his throne up to Dong. Lu Bu agrees to escort him to the emporor.

March 192. Ga Luf convinces an officer bye the name of Li Hui to join us.

Apr 192 Li Su takes Dong Zhou to the emporor's palace the long way and convinces Dng to continue on the road.
Once at the palace Dong is met bye Lu Bu and Wang Yun. Lu Bu kills Dong Zhou and Dongs whole family is put to death
Diao Chan marries Lu Bu

Dongs Land is split in two between Li Jue and Lu Bu.

May 192
Zhang Wei joins our army

Aug 192 Tao Qian dies of illness and Chen Gui takes over as ruler. Plague also hits Jian Ning delaying plans of attack on Nanman.

September 192 Cao Cao takes Chang An form Lu Bu electing to suport the emporor

Oct 192 we suppress the plague in Jian Ning

Dec 192 We attack Nanman with FF Nutt, and Bu Bba, with Ga Luf watching our supplies and Fy Nn as our military advisor. We beat them in the field but couldn't take their castle

Dec 192 Liu Yun attacks Mr Adaquete meets them with the rest of our troops and captures their commander Wu Lan who we imprision.

March 193 Han Sui's force destroyed bye the rebel force Qiang

May 193 we formed an alliance with the ruler Kong Rong

May 193 Liu Yan attacks again with reinforcements. We send out to meet them Bu Bba, Mr Adequate, and FF Nutt
FF Nutt takes on Yan Pu's troops first in the field and is successful and captures Yan Pu
Mr. Adequate takes on Lu Kai's troops and was able to capture him and route the troops
Bu Bba keeps at the gate as a last minute defence with Fy Nn advising them as head advisor.

Gao Pei and Yang Huai arrive as reinforcements For Liu Yan
FF Nutt heads over to cut off Yang Huai and routes his troops
Mr. Adequate moves over to challenge Gao Pei and is able to route him.
Bu Bbacontinues to be the man watching the main gate to the city to keep the enemy out as our last defence.
FF Nutt then turns his attention on the battle commander Dong He and routes his troops and captures him and the battle ends
The city is safe

Dec 193 Prisoner Wu Lan agrees to join us then defects the same month back to Liu Yan. Head will roll.

March 194 we form an alliance with Wang Kuang

May 194 we recruit prisoners

It was a slow year for us however we have stocked up resources and should be able to take a stab at the Nanman again in 195
we will be launching an attack soon to take down the Barbarian Giant.

Feb 195 Dong He leaves to serve Yuan Shao

April 195 Bu Bba, Ga Luf, FF Nutt, Gao Pei, Zhang Wei all suit up to make our move on the Nanman.
Ga Luf was made head commander for the assault. Yan Pu serves as the advisor.

The Nanman met us is the field. All officers except Zhang Wei concentrate on the Nanman officer. Zhang Wei stays back to protect the supplies.

Our troops overwelm the Nanman officer then move to attack the Nanman King who has their supplies. Yan Pu puts a plan in action and makes the Nanman troops confused unable to attack and defend. We do heavy damage while that happens.

We we destroy the Nanman King in the field and advance to the Nanman castle!

As as we go to the main Gates of Nanman all but Gao Pei attack. He stays behind to protect supplies.

Nanman an were able to hold us off at the gates and keep their independence.

June 195 we form an alliance with Kong Zhou

Sept 195 Liu Yan Attacks us. We meet him in the field with Mr. Adequate, FF Nutt, and Bu Bba
while Bu Bba protects our food, FF Nutt goes after Lu Kai, and Mr. Adequate goes after Liu Zhang

!r Adequate makes short work of Liu Zhang routing his troops, and FF Nutt defeats Lu Kai just as reinforcements arrive for Liu Yan.
it is Wu Lan who betrayed us earlier. FF Nutt goes at him and routes him.

Mr. Adequate then presues Yang Huai and routes him for victory for us.

We we imprision all except Wu Ban who we execute for treason!

Year review. With 194 being very quite 195 was filled with all lords going to war with each other with no real gains bye any of them. We are rebuilding after the Nanman loss and are getting troops together again.

Apr 196 Sun Jian dies. Sun Ce is named his successor.

June 196 we assault Nanman again

Bu Bba, FF Nutt, Ga Luf, and Gao Pei are the officers while Yan Pu is the advisor.
Ga Luf leads the attack
They meet us in the field. Ga Luf, FF Nutt, and BuBba attack the enemies while Gao Pei protects the supplies.
As a group the route the Nanman officer, then the king and preps to storm the castle

We lost at the gates but weakened the Nanman.

Jun196 attacked bye Liu Yan. Mr Adequate goes to meet them in the field but is beaten bye Gan Ning.

Liu Yan's troops attack the city and break through our west gate. They route Ki Ng's troops and take the city.

Game over

I may look at trying a did rent scenario soon in a new location. Biggest issue this time was the Nanman who were just to strong for us.

I was a fan back in those days! The latest versions are just piss and poo priced ridiculously. How the series have fallen. I guess it can never erect again. :(

Also, tangentially relevant: the San Guo Sha card game is fucking amazing, and I would kiss any volume of ass to get it direct translated and ported to Western markets.
