When you save your game are you the sort to save at every special moment, every chapter, or do you just keep the one save?

I generally keep 2. One for the game as I go on and a second for special sections that I can't leave or whatever.

Depends. For visual novels - especially when they don't have a quick chapter select feature - I keep a save file at every important point in the story. For RPGs I stick with two (the extra is for security reasons)

I only keep one. Helps with immersion.

If I'm playing on PC and I'm allowed unlimited saves I'll pretty much always use a new save every time I manually save. Except for in Starcraft.

Most WRPGs I make a new save each time. Good ol' JRPGs get one save each. I think this is just habit from memory cards having limited space.

I keep 3. Both in case one of them gets corrupted, as well as if I screw up and can't progress properly in the game. It's nice to be able to go back a bit and fix it.

On pc i make a new save every time incase i want to go back and take screenshots or something

on old consoles with limited space i liked to cycle between 3 saves. I went up to about 12 on the ps3 generation. everything in the latest generation is all autosave though but ill wtill make a backup if im about to do something irrevesible

I keep about 8 slaves.

...Uh, I mean saves. Yes, of course.

I generally run with two, a primary and a secondary I typically use before entering dungeons, especially if I have a feeling it is a major plot dungeon.

One per playthrough.
I also prefer this method. I think it's fine in most cases.

Two. One main, one 'just in case I miss something' which is usually an hour or two behind the main one. It then become one save per playthrough right at the end, like a record, for NG+ and the like.

I used to keep only one, but then I got scared about games glitching out and messing up my saves. So now I rotate through 3 saves.

If I really enjoy the game I will have several different save points in my favorite spots so I can reply those scenes as much as I want. Used to do it pretty often with FFVII and FFVIII.

I probably should do that. Then again, I tend to replay my games at least once.

Dragon Age: Inquisition is pretty good. It auto saves, but also keeps 'milestone' saves that chart your major progress through the story. I've had to drop down to an auto-save once or twice if I forgot to change someone's equipment before embarking on an mission.

anywhere from 3 to 6 depending on the type of game... RPGs usually get 6 with "save slot 1" reserved for the save at the beginning of each new chapter then i begin to overwrite 2 through 6 as i reach new save points... with this system i don't have to backtrack too far if i miss something early in the chapter or if a file gets corrupted i have plenty of backups that aren't too far from each other...
