According to a recent interview with Game Informer, Final Fantasy XV will boast over 200 quests! While they currently have that many, the team is working on adding even more, assuring that fans will have a ton of stuff to do in the game.

The quests are reportedly going to be divided in to four categories: Main story, regional, monster hunts, and fun. I don't know about you, but the fun ones certainly interest me the most! I hope we get some silly and lighthearted ones to give us a breather from the main story every now and again.

Are you impressed by the number of quests? Which type sounds most interesting to you?

I do like fun, off-beat missions, and this game seems ripe for them.

I think it's gonna be Final Fantasy XII all over again.

is this a good thing?

quantity over quality might be a thing

having 200 quests doesn't mean anything

They've certainly had long enough time to implement 200 quests.

I imagine at least 70% of them will be irrelevant, purely for completionist, stuff like kill X of Y or find A of B or escort 1 to 2 - all for a small amount of XP and nothing of significance. Hopefully they aren't as copy paste as I'm expecting... but well, just have to look at the likes of Dragon Age Inquisition to temper expectations!

You see, I actually don't mind quests like that as long as there's some story attached. Where DA: I failed is attaching no story to these quests whatsoever besides some diary entry or logbook to fill in the blanks yourself.

Didn't they say in the GameInformer interview that they were going to avoid overloading of quests? Like you won't be tripping over them as in other open world games? I mean it doesn't stop them from being fetch quests without much story, but here's hoping? Also, maybe the main plot is broken into a bunch of small quests instead of a larger quest with a bunch of objectives? So 200 is maybe really "120"? Or something like that.

Is 200 quests even a lot? Sure it sounds like a lot because 200 is a big number, but does someone have another RPG (or whatever other type of game) that they could compare it to? How many quests does, say, GTAV have? Or the Witcher 3, Skyrim, DA:I etc.

Skyrim used a "radial quest" system that would forever generate random fetch quests, so infinity in theory? I mean DA:I has the same thing with the requisition quests too...I would guess Witcher 3, sans DLC, being around 120 including the weapon/armour individual pieces quests and upgrades?

As far as total number of quests in an open world RPG goes, 200 isn't as many as it sounds like. Dragon Age Inquisition for example has around 400 quests, and it's considered pretty sparse compared to other western RPGs. Skyrim has around 500 unique quests, ignoring the randomly generated ones. The Witcher III last I checked was over 600 quests, and that was before the last DLC expansion came out.

So yeah, 200 sounds perfectly reasonable.
