Do you like the new jobs? The new way to get some of the jobs? Miss some of the old ones?

Discuss!

I was very pleasantly surprised with the new jobs! They're all very interesting mechanically and add a lot of new ideas into the mix. All the old jobs were based on classic FF jobs, while here all the new jobs are completely original, which is very nice! I used pretty much parts of all of them in my final party

I'm not crazy about a lot of them aesthetically, I'm also really disappointed to find that we're playing two new and two old characters. I haven't finished the Demo so I was very excited to have a large character in the party to offset all the shrimps.

I'm not a big fan of item-based magic but Catmancer gets a pass since it is basically blue mage. Patissier is dumb though. Wizard's spells suck later on but Spellcraft (it's real ability) is awesome on any other magics. Bishop is cool in that the cures are based on % of HP and not stats so you can toss it on an attacker as a subjob for decent cures, but White Mage is still better overall. Fencer has basically been Edea's subjob the whole game. Wolf stance + the attacks that keep switching stances are very potent. Charioteer is innovative in that it plays off of the weapon rankings and Triple Wield is awesome on a Ninja. Didn't use Astrologian or Hawkeye much and haven't gotten the other jobs.

Overall I think they did a good job of trying to come up with a decent job set that wasn't tied too much to classic FF jobs. I still rely on some of the classic jobs like Ninja, White Mage, Black Mage, Thief quite a bit though.

Ah, yes. Throughout the game I had Yew spellcrafting Summons. It was glorious.

Spellcraft turned Summoner from an afterthought to a juggernaut.

It also makes him extremely versatile because this time around there's also a healing summon, so Yew could do everything, basically.

Add to that Yokai's echo and you have yourself a devastating killing machine.

Hm, I need to find the healing summon! One thing great about summoner is that you have all the elements in one set of magic. Wizard has this too but the magic is way too weak. Summoner is basically the evolution of Wizard so Spellcraft goes great with it.
