I've been into this show since I was 17, and I have good memories (in between playing Tony Hawk's Skateboarding and Woody Allen Films) of watching this refreshing and intelligent show ^_______________^

At Christmas I got the entire seasons and movies all in one!

And now, I like it even more. I understand it on a deeper level. So good, I watched all the eps twice :-)

I identify with Daria very strongly, in fact she practically is me. But I'm kinda like Jane too.

Here are some of my favourite lines:

Boy at Party: So heh heh, where have you like been all our lives?
Daria: Here, waiting for you. We were born in this room, we grew up in this room and we thought we would die here alone

Stacey: Ohhhw heard in third world countries they don't have diet soda
Tiffany: Oh that's so saaaaaad, like how do they stay thin?

Daria: My hormones don't rage, sure they get angry once in a while

And so many more I can't remember.

Its opinion time again, have at it.

Actually watching the episode where Jane and Dariah get invited to a party for doing this girl's school work. 11/10 good show

Daria: Do you think you could teach me to twiddle my hair and look vacant?
Britney: Hmm I don't think that's something you can teach

Daria: How often do you dye your hair?
Woman in Car: Well, I never in my life....!
Daria: (writes) Never in my life

I always liked Daria's father, one of the great hapless TV fathers.

Also, Daria has two of the best quotes ever about relationships:

'I mean someone you can get along with for more than one evening. Who can share your hopes and dreams, your trials and disappointments. Someone you look forward to seeing day after day, week after week, (angrier) month after month, year after year, the same old complaints about his uncaring father. God is he ever going to get over-'

'Daria, do you ever think that maybe guys and girls aren't meant to understand each other? Like it's all part of some big unfunny joke on us that we'll be struggling with for the rest of our lives? Oh look, celery stalks.'

I like Jake and Helen's couple dynamic. In the end it works well for them.

I also see myself in Jake too. I tend to hold onto past resentments I can't do a damn thing about in the present. I can identify with how cold and inconsiderate people can be, even when those people are your parents. In his case, an Alpha Male Military Man.

I used to watch it all the time in high school. It's been years since I've seen any episodes though.

It was pretty funny. I'd watch it whenever it was on.

The older I get the less I identify with Daria.

Both her and Jane are kind of assholes. They are super judgey of their peers and then complain about being judged themselves. I was just talking about this with someone recently actually! What's that phenomenon that once you see something you see it everywhere? That has happened with Daria lately for me haha

I still enjoy the show but I identify with them much less than I used to. Maybe it's that adult perspective on it thing.

Yeah, I have to agree with you Freya. Coincidentally enough, I was watching Daria a couple days ago for the first time since I was in high school, and yeah, it just doesn't speak to me the way it did back then. I no longer relate to the protagonist and her friends. They all seem like self absorbed holier than thou assholes, which I suppose is typical of their age group. I actually find myself relating to and sympathizing with Daria's parents more than anyone. Never saw that coming. :p

But I suppose it's because I'm simply no longer in the show's target audience, and it is a highly entertaining show for said target audience (even though now all the music that plays throughout the show that's trapped it in the current copyright hell it resides in is way too old for the current batch of young-uns).

Its interesting how Daria and Jane speak to me even more, the older I get. Interesting how one person differs from the other on such things.
