We'll be live blogging the Playstation press conference from E3 2016. Last year saw the huge reveal of the Final Fantasy VII Remake as well as the unexpected World of Final Fantasy, alongside big names like Uncharted 4. What do you think is in store this year? Which titles are you hyped for?

Live blog to follow below:

I totally picked a wrong option when promoting this so the thread is now in the wrong forum haha

I'm glad I at least stayed up late enough to cringe at... whatever the hell this is!

Seriously? Another God of War? Is he actually going after the Norse Pantheon this time?

God of War is going in a completely different direction. Different tone and different genre.

Actually just going after deer. That was actually the final boss.

Kratos just wants to relax and enjoy his retirement you know?

God of War is the Last of Us now.

I felt like Days Gone was this.

Is it me or does Conner sound like he's voiced by Keanu Reeves? Either way, Detroit: Becoming Human looks pretty good despite the Uncanny Valley.

EDITGA:Resident Evil has also apparently become Silent Hill.

Depression Moon

That was Resident Evil?

Did not expect Call of Duty.

Not sure how I feel about the VR stuff. The Prompto mode for FFXV is a bit bewildering.

Oh shit, Crash!

I really like Quantic Dream stuff. It sounds interesting. VR stuff I can leave.

Isn't a bit too early for a Lego game based off the new Star Wars films?

Ooo, Crash Bandicoot! Now that I can dig.

Wolf Kanno

Well Kojima's new game looks trippy as hell. Wonder if it may be some of the left over ideas for Silent Hills since Norman is still involved.

Also Spider Man!

Another Last of Us game?

Well that was underwhelming.

Wtf that was amazing. They knocked it out of the park. I was thoroughly entertained and am now going to buy a PS4

Days Gone had liquid zombies. There were so many coming so fast they made like a river avalanche of zombies and holy trout I want that game.

The best part, the absolute best part was Bear McCreary scoring the entire thing. That was a amazing. He can do no wrong. I love every score he ever does.

I just don't like zombies. I can't find them scary.

Well... it was boring.

Also as a Skylanders Fan... i don't like the idea of Crash being in the game and now people are getting salty.

Crash is too cool for your skylanders anyway :colbert:

What's so bad about Crash being in Skylanders?

EDITGA:Resident Evil has also apparently become Silent Hill.

Yeah, I don't like this. Resident Evil shouldn't be trying to emulate Silent Hill (or anything for that matter) they're two entirely different games. I'm holding out hope that the final product plays a lot more RE than that trailer is giving off.

I was excited when I saw Crash Bandicoot mentioned, but if it's just the first three games remastered I'm less excited. Spider-Man looks cool.

That was a very strange take on God of War.

Crash would probably fit in fine in a Skylanders game. He's got that cartoonish look about him.

Just as long as they do a better job designing him than they did Spyro.

Never forgive.
Never forget.

Yeah Skylanders Spyro was totally the worst iteration of Spyro. Yep. Definitely.

That does sound cringey. To be fair, it was that or fade into obscurity after a bad modern run of games. Spyro sort of headlined for Skylanders.

Like with Spyro... Fans ******* about the design. As a fan of that series, designs doesn't matter.

Director's comments regarding RE7:

"The teaser is kind of a tonal preview instead of a content preview. It’s also not showing off all the gameplay pillars we’re going to have. It’s focusing on up front to the key pillars, which are fear, horror, and exploration of an environment. The other key pillars of Resident Evil – puzzle solving, resource management, and combat – they're coming down the line. They’re all in there, but we’re focusing on 'horror has come home' as a kind of theme for the teaser demo. So if you thought the games were going away from horror in previous years, this is just a statement of intent, purpose, to say it’s back."

"The demo is not actually a slice from the game. It’s not the opening sequence of the game or anything like that."

"We wanted to focus on what concepts we wanted players to focus on in the game, and that’s obviously horror. So this is a tonal preview of what to expect from the game rather than a little bit of game content you’re getting in advance."

So, it's as I hoped.

More stuff confirmed:

It isn't a reboot. It's set after Resident Evil 6 and ties into the story/world, but features an entirely new cast of characters.
New characters used to help with the horror. "One of the places we got to in the series until now is that you’re playing these superhero characters…to bring horror experience right to the player…can’t be seeing through a macho hero character"
Herbs return as your only source of health regen. Combining/mixing, etc.
Stronger, but fewer, enemies. "One thing I can say is it’s not going to be some kind of zombie horror where you have to mow down zombies"
Inventory system is a mix between traditional Resident Evil and Resi 4's Attache case.
It was first-person before VR. "If you want people to experience horror, and you want it in the most direct and visceral way possible, you know putting yourself in the position to see what the character sees is the best possible way to do that."
Resident Evil 1 REmake is the main inspiration.

Citing REmake as the main inspiration gives me hope. Also:

"There are no Quick Time Events in RE7."

Thank the Maker.

I know REmake was praised for how they stayed faithful to RE: 1 while just enhancing the experience. And that 'statement of intent' was well thought out: many fans were tired of the direction it took in 5 and 6. I mean, it is horror so I could never play the series, but I do want it to do well.

It looks like Marvel is looking to take the console market by storm, too.
