The nominations are in! All 49 Ciddies (number 8 is still on vacation). So like, now it's time for the real voting and stuff! Remember, this time around you only pick one member per category from the ones listed. Best Member is the exception - pick your top three here and arrange them in order. Voting is open until Friday, July 8th at 1 PM EDT. The Dude will not accept late votes unless you give him a heads-up earlier. Aww, my post got nominated. I didn't expect that at all :3: I feel like I should follow up on it. Last month was the most amazing time I've had in my life 1000x over, everything from all the places we went to see down to just relaxing at home and I can't get back to Norway soon enough. Also I don't mean to make anyone feel like an asshole if they do it. I've been really fortunate to win more than my fair share of Ciddies so feel free to ignore my preachy self-righteous trout. If you come here day after day then you deserve recognition, and if you haven't had that I'm sorry.

I remember this coming up in the Festival Committee page, actually. My response is the same: I don't self-vote or self-nominate out of principle, but that doesn't begrudge anyone who does. I pretty much agree with Freya. Nominating yourself is pretty harmless and if anything adds a quorum of potential voting choice. Voting for yourself is still within the rules, therefore I don't see any reason to dislike someone because of it.

I'd probably get more nominations or even outright Ciddies if I did self-vote, but I'd prefer it if I won because I was remembered and acknowledged without me nudging myself forward.

The Dude's official stance on self-voting and self-nominating is that you're all totally tubular no matter what you decide to do. Whether you want to help others more by not voting for yourself or you want to give yourself credit where you deserve it, it's all, like, equally fair. Sometimes you need to give yourself that pat on the back and stuff, and sometimes you feel like more of a giver. And stuff.
