Legendary Pictures got the rights (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/pokemon-movie-rights-land-at-912400)for a live action Pokemon movie... based on Detective Pikachu.

Also, for those of you guys flabbergasted by all this, this is based on a so far Japan-only cinematic adventure game for the 3DS called Great Detective Pikachu (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Detective_Pikachu). It stars a deep-voiced Pikachu who is a detective and solves cases with his human companion. The game itself looks pretty friggin' great and I wish it got a Western release.
