I expect this to be among the worst Superhero movies ever made.

The first preview that came out way back whenever ago made it look awful. In the past month, I'm become more and more excited about it, and will see it Saturday.

FWIW SS has been getting a lot of mixed to poor reviews. A lot of the same problems that plagued BvS' production seem to happen w/ this one, studio getting too much involved, poor editing. Makes you think Warner Bros. might be more of a problem than previously thought.

Interested to see what this iteration of the Joker is like in the film. I am very skeptical to say the least.

Man, it's getting slated. I hope it absolutely bombs then maybe the film industry will see less superhero movies which are currently getting churned out left right and centre.

Fantastic Four bombing hasn't stopped all the comic book films, I doubt this would. At the moment along with animated films superhero films are your best bet at a big hit, the MCU stuff rakes it in, and even Batman v Superman made almost $900 million despite being slammed by a lot of people.

And Suicide Squad is projected to make $140 million in its opening weekend in the US, so I wouldn't hold your breathe on it flopping.

People need to stop going to see crap films just because it has someone with special powers in it.

Are they ALL crap? I think the MCU films thus far have been pretty good on the whole. Not to mention Christopher Nolan's Batman films, and some of the X-Men films. I'd argue comic book adaptations have had a higher percentage of good films than most other blockbuster types over the last decade.

I didn't say they were all crap. I just said people need to stop going to see crap films. It just encourages more crapness.

I think at least a small percentage of those watching are watching just to see how crap it is. But Bubba's right; if it makes money it'll encourage them to produce more.

Superhero movies that have been released in 2016 (with Rotten Tomatoes score):

Deadpool (84%)
Batman vs. Superman (27%)
Captain America: Civil War (90%)
X-Men Apocalypse (48%)
Suicide Squad (30%)

2 flops, 2 good ones, and X-Men kind of in the middle. Pick any other 5 movies released in 2016 at random and you would probably see a similar distribution of scores. Superhero movies are like any other movie, if they have good writing and/or production value, they will be good movies. There is nothing special about the superhero genre that makes them more or less likely to be a 'crap' movie. Marvel proved this.

I haven't seen X-Men or Suicide Squad, but I agreed with the critics on the other three. I'll rent Suicide Squad on Amazon or something.

I'm so excited to see this film. The reviews I've been seeing have been so positive, but of course they are shit has looked good since day one. The first supervillain film I think ever. I'm trying to think of another one, but nah. Fuck a superhero movie, we got a supervillain movie in this shit! AYEEEEEE!

It was decent. I had issues, but I still enjoyed it for the most part

I enjoyed the heck out of this movie.

It was fun. Like, it didn't break new ground - it doesn't really do anything too different from an ensemble superhero movie like say the Avengers or X-Men but the characters were really likeable.

I enjoyed it. I wasn't too keen on Leto's joker. I feel they either didn't use him enough or they used him too much. Like there wasn't enough developed for him so they either needed to cut some of him out or expand on him more. I felt he was just unnecessary for a large bit of the movie.

I enjoyed Margot's Harley though! She played a great Harley.

Margot was definitely the star. It was all right, but even I want familiar with the main villain before hand and they gave me little reason to actually find said villain interesting. And Will Smith was once again great in the role of action movie Will Smith. The same guy he plays every time. Viola Davis and the Batman and Flash cameos were also great.

Not true. Will Smith has two different roles! Will Smith as a dad and Will Smith not as a dad!

I was just meh. It feels like they tried to carry the movie on the strength of the characters, but the characters didn't have the strength to do it.

Watched it today without high expectations and was totally surprised how much I liked it. I have watched three new movies in theatres this year and thought this one was the best. Harley Quinn, Deadshot, the setting, yes, even Jared Leto as the Joker did surprise me good.

Finally saw it. I wrote a long ass thing about it on another site, but I'm not going to do it here and doubt anyone would read all that, but it's highly mixed. I can see why it got the critiques that it did. There is some sloppy editing in it and the plot falls apart after the first act. I hope the second one has someone who's familiar with at least the animated versions of the squad.
