Oh yes, been watching it since season 1

Denmark at the start of the episode: "Eh, I don't think I'll be watching next season."
Denmark at the end of the episode: "FINE, WESTWORLD, YOU CONVINCED ME."

Wow. FUCKING WOW. I've been optimistic all season that it would all be pulled together at the end; I didn't think it would be THE VERY END. I saw a picture last week on Reddit of Hale's host, but I didn't think it would be DOLORES (nod to the people who DID guess that, by the way).

This episode destroyed me. I UGLY CRIED through the mob scene and Maeve watching her daughter get to safety, then dying. I'm happy knowing she, at least, will be coming back next season. And that her main drive was fulfilled. True, she will never have a life with her daughter. Her daughter has another mother. WE DON'T EVEN KNOW HER DAUGHTER'S NAME. But she's safe. The one thing every parent truly wants for their child. All parents say they would die for their children, and she did.

But Hector's not coming back. Armistice isn't coming back. Japanese Armistice isn't coming back. Lee Sizemore died, to give Maeve the time she needed (we finally got the hear Hector's speech). Aketcha died. Elsie died. Emily is confirmed dead. It was the goddamn Red Wedding.

Stubbs? I don't think he's a host. But he knows Charlores is. He might even know it's Dolores herself. I can't wait to see what his motives are, since they've only been hinted at.

Wow. JUST WOW.

P sure Stubbs is a host as we saw him in the control room in Season 1 when Logan and William were in the park, and he hasn't aged a day.

Very Red Wedding indeed! All our beloved side characters gone. RIP Sizemore especially, what a precious boy :(

Bernard vs Dolores should be fun but radically different, no more west in Westworld.

Pretty sure that took place in the current timeline. When he asks if there are any guests with her, it's deemed inconclusive. Later we see her in the Spanish village and with the Pinkerton-esque dude come to take her back to her loop before William steps in. It's intentionally framed that way to make it seem as if that scene was a direct result of Stubbs' scene. At the very least, it's left ambiguous.

Stubbs is human.

Also on Reddit people seem to think Hector and Armistice are coming back, but I think not. I read an interview with Nolan and he basically said, yeah, nah. The intended to get rid of a bunch of characters. And the people who made it to the Valley are definitely gone (at least from next season, big picture, he hinted they're coming back).

The nature of this show allows for people to come back within the plot, but it cheapens things to constantly do that. Death should mean something, even for seemingly immortal beings. Especially after the Cradle was destroyed. Flashbacks are always welcome, however.

Yeah I'm not gonna lie keeping my head up with that episode was a wreck and I think I failed the exam. I mean I have a lot of what happened set in my mind but there is a absolute buttload of what the smurf going on and I'm going to have to read up on what I just watched later so I can get my head around it. This episode, for a schmuck like me, was just being a wee bit too clever.

EDIT: Oh, and Stubbs is deliberately inconclusive on the current evidence provided, imho, and is written to be exactly that.

Bubba at the end of the episode: “Yeah, I’m definitely not watching next season.”

Apart from a few cool moments over the season, I’ve just stopped caring about any of the characters... human or host. Maeve was my favourite host but got properly shafted this series. Apart from the pointless trip to Eastworld, she spent most of her time dead on a guerney. I think the only humans I liked were Elsie and Sizemore and... *waves*

The whole thing was messy, confusing and poorly structured... which is a shame as some of the acting was still excellent.

That final shot of Bernard walking through that door was a metaphor for my brain walking out of this series. Might still check out some of the show’s piano covers though...

I still think those scenes can be read as ambiguous, and the scene you mentioned as clever editing.

However, the director of the episode confirmed that Stubbs is a host.

So, I concede.

Still holding out for robot baby, btw. ROBOBABY WATCH 2020

I ended up reading a timeline they posted on reddit and I think for the most part I've wrapped my head around it all now. Neat.

As for Stubbs being confirmed a host, I wish they'd stop doing that off-screen. Confirm it in the show or leave us debating. It's so much more fun that way. If you have to explain something off-screen, I start questioning the writing of the show.

I'm actually with... Loony BoB on this one. This show has some great acting, characters (many of whom are now dead...), and tries things no other show has to my knowledge, but man it's such a mindsmurf. Even without the layered timelines it would be difficult to keep track of who is doing what and why. Even Maeve who had a straightforward goal, got confusing with her new powers and the random sidetrack to Shogunworld. It's so hard to follow that it becomes less interesting.

“Okay, here’s what quantum computing is. You know Schrodinger’s cat? It’s a cat inside a box and it’s either living or dead. Boom, you got a rudimentary understanding of an incredible complex scientific field.”

“Now, imagine that instead of a cat, it’s a person. And it doesn’t matter if it’s living or dead, because either way, it doesn’t understand the plot of Westworld because no one understands the plot of Westworld, not even the people who wrote it, because they’re all making it up as they go,” Barbado continued.

“Now imagine there’s two cats in the box. And both of them are Dolores. But one of them is played by Tessa Thompson. What the smurf is up with that?”

I'm still not sure I fancy coming back to this show after the mess that was Season 2... but damn this trailer looks great. I approve of the casting of Aaron Paul.

The season 2 finale was great, though.

Looks like HBO's sound mixing is still total shit. Can't understand a single word he's saying.

Actually five episodes in because I thought the trailer looked interesting but it’s been utter garbage.

Yeah, I watched maybe 5 episodes. One or two good moments like Aaron Paul (don't even remember his character's name anymore) and his character history, and the space oddity moment, as well as the Warworld stuff, but other than that... meh. I just... don't care.

So is the third season better or worse than season 2? I can't watch one-episode-a-week TV anymore; I wait until the season is over and binge it all (GoT is the last show I watched consistently live). From the comments so far, it sounds worse.

This season wasn't very good. There were definitely good moments, but overall it was...meh. I'll give it one more season.

Is anyone still watching :monocle:

Much like The Walking Dead, I find my friend group who talks about this show continues to grow smaller.

In Westworld's case it's not even that people stopped liking it, even if they preferred earlier seasons. It's just that there's 100 shows to watch at any given time and they just haven't gotten around to it.

The two year breaks in between seasons doesn't help the momentum. It doesn't really stay in the public eye in the off season.

I haven't watched the past couple of seasons, but the person I work with most keeps saying I need to get back into it, she loves it. How are you finding it?

I'm really enjoying it. Better than the previous season.

I don't know if any season has touched the highs of season 1 for me, but it's basically been a consistently good, thought provoking show.
