Despite being a person who really enjoys the concept of this genre and liking what I have read of it so far, I have really little experience with it! I've only really read the Cormoran Strike novels by Robert Galbraith (actually J.K. Rowling) and am now reading "A Murder on the Orient Express" by Agatha Christie, but I've enjoyed all of them immensely so far. Heck, I've even tried my hand writing a detective story. It wasn't a very good one, but at least it's a start! I'm sure I can do better if I read more of them!

So I wanted to ask you all: do you like detective stories? What do you like about the genre? Any particular works you can recommend?

The main ones I've read are The Three Coffins and of course Umineko. I guess And Then There Were None doesn't count as a detective story since it has no detective, but it's a story of a similar nature. Naturally I recommend Umineko to any fans of detective novels since it's partly a love letter to the genre as a whole. :jess:
